In recent years, Iranians have launched countless uprisings, each filled with hope and courage, only to be met with violent repression from the regime, and mainly indifference from abroad. Each wave of protests saw security forces killing thousands of demonstrators, and imprisoning and torturing many more. The time is long overdue for Western nations to take a real stand. • European governments, rather than risking confrontation with Iran’s regime, have preferred to maintain business relations and avoid taking any position that might upset the mullahs. Those countries are complicit in the suffering of the Iranian people. The unalleviated silence emboldens the regime, rather than holds it accountable.

In his speech to the Knesset on Monday, November 18, Netanyahu called out Biden’s advice throughout the war for being “repeatedly off the mark.” By Thursday, three days after the Israeli Prime Minister publicly criticized the U.S. President, the ICC issued arrest warrants for the prime minister and his former defense minister following months of delays from the international court due to U.S. pressure.

Peloni:  Here is a very important analysis of what must be done to permanently defeat Regulatory Capture.  Many are looking to RFK to achieve this feat.  The question is whether his ultimate aims are support reform of Regulatory Capture or to eliminate it utterly, with the distinction being far more important than is commonly understood and which is discussed by Shaffer in the article below.  Recall that RFK is an old time liberal.  This philosophy usually seeks govt solutions for every problem, and when govt solutions fail to be useful, they usually attribute it to being due to poor management of govt policy.  So is this the ultimate end of RFK’s reforms, to deliver better management of Regulatory Capture as explicitly, or is it to end Regulatory Capture altogether (again, as explained below)?  Time will tell.

Kennedy, Jr. to head the Department of Health and Human Services is cause for celebration for anyone who cares about the pharmaceutical industry’s influence over regulatory agencies, and the deleterious effect it has had on the health of Americans.

It is nearly impossible to express just how remarkable and potentially world-changing this is. Only a few years ago, it would have been beyond the imagination of any serious political commentator. As of this writing (Wednesday, November 20, 2024), Reuters reported that Ukraine fired a volley of up to twelve Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles into Russia’s Kursk region, a day after Ukraine fired six U.S.-manufactured ATACMS missiles into Russia’s Bryansk region.

In recent articles on Hezbollah’s rocket attacks on northern Israel, the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal all referred to the “Israeli-occupied” or “Israeli-controlled” Golan Heights. The terms were revealing. In March 2019, President Trump recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan, making it an indivisible part of the Jewish state. In describing the Heights as “occupied” and “controlled” by Israel, America’s papers of record were publicly rejecting the position of the country’s democratically elected leader in favor of those of Belgium, China, and the Obama administration.

Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem has said that Israel “attacked the heart of Beirut to assassinate the Resistance group’s media chief, Mohammad Afif, and now must await a counter-response in the heart of Tel Aviv.” This is interesting, because Hezbollah already targeted Tel Aviv in the wake of the killing of Afif.

The statement is a reminder of how Hezbollah ran this war prior to Israel’s Operation Northern Arrows; Hezbollah would always say there was an equation. Basically “if Israel does X then we do Y.” One would have thought this changed with Israel’s operation, because Israel expanded the attacks so much.
