Elections 2024: What elites are MISSING about the working class

Peloni:  This is a very sharp conversation between Jonathan Tobin and Batya Ungar-Sargon relating the various campaign topics of the 2024 election, including the more Jewish related topics on Israel, antisemitism, and Jews voting for the Dems per rote.  Regarding the 2024 election, Batya expresses some concerns about Trump running against Harris.  She expresses the point that while Trump is acting on behalf of the working man and woman, it is easy to forget that many of the working class men and women might be easily insulted  by some of the campaign rhetoric being used to fairly characterize Harris.  Batya warns that Harris will use these attacks on herself to mobilize anger against Trump from the very working class base which he has grown in support of his MAGA agenda.

Iran’s House of Cards

The Islamic Republic’s succession games are just getting started.

Janatan Sayeh & Saeed Ghasseminejad | FDD | July 27, 2024

Masoud Pezeshkian’s election to Iran’s presidency remains a sideshow to the true contest for power in the Islamic Republic. Who will succeed to the leadership of the regime upon the death of eighty-five-year-old Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who has ruled Iran with an iron fist for the past thirty-five years? Until his death in a helicopter crash, Ebrahim Raisi was a favorite. He had the right credentials, serving not only in the presidency but also within the judiciary and managing a major religious shrine.

Israel’s assassinations will not defeat Hamas and Hezbollah, but they are an effective tool for weakening them

In the short term there now may be an escaltion

Eliminating key leaders of terror organisations is a practice often used by states such as the US and Israel in their war against terror. Muhammad Deif, Fouad Shukr and Ismail Haniyeh follow many of their predecessors in the Palestinian terror organisations (Abu Jihad, Fathi Shikaki, Ahmad Yassin to mention a few) and in other terror groups (Osama Bin Laden, Qasem Soleimani, Imad Moghnieh; Abu Bakr AlBaghdadi for example).

The strategic significance of Haniyeh’s justified assassination

Iranian leaders have begun to internalize the understanding that has resonated in every capital of the Middle East, that anyone who attacks the State of Israel should fear for his own fate as well.

Hamas military leaders eliminated   IDF Spokesperson

Israel is bracing and preparing for the expected response by the Middle East’s axis of evil; Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, Iraqi militias, and the Houthis of Yemen. Over the past few days hours Israel eliminated Fuad Shukr- the Chief of Staff of Hezbollah, Ismail Haniyeh – a top leader of Hamas, and earlier in the month Mohammed Deif, the Chief of Staff of Hamas.

No Plea Deal for 9/11 Terrorists

Peloni: It is a mark of national ineptitude or complicity that such a move was attempted to protect the men who slaughtered over 3,000 Americans and who changed America from the land of free to to land of the security state, as it exists as today.  These men must face their fate, and the families of the victims must finally be allowed some aliquot of justice, albeit now delayed for nearly two and half decades already, still with no trial date set, even as this attempt to waylay the need for such judicial niceties has been refused by popular demand.  How many generations must pass before these men who supposedly turned the the Twin Towers to literal dust might be finally tried for their crimes.  At long last, bring these monsters to trial.

Even If Moses Endorsed Donald Trump, Jews Would Not Vote For Him

By Alexander G. Markovsky | August 2, 2024

Image: YouTube screen grab.

The Republican National Committee unanimously voted on Holocaust Remembrance Day to pass a resolution condemning anti-Semitism. This resolution provides strong evidence of the Party and its leader, Donald J. Trump’s stance towards Jews. Nevertheless, if the Party leaders expect a positive response from the Jewish community in November, they may be disappointed.

Ismail Haniyeh’s Killing in Iran Brings Israel Closer to Victory

Peloni:  Let us not forget that an Israeli victory provides for increased regional stability, preserving US interests, and Israeli sovereignty, all of which is ironically why the Harris-Biden administration is postured to partner with Iran.

The death of Hamas’ leader leaves the organization headless and less able to develop a strategy going forward.

by Seth J. Frantzman | July 31, 2024

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Iran on July 31. Haniyeh was one of the most well-known faces of Hamas in the region. Ever since he took over Hamas’ Political Bureau in 2017, he has been a key leader in navigating the rising power of Hamas in the region and globally. Now, Haniyeh is dead, and his group is suffering blows in both Gaza and throughout the Middle East. Ten months of war in Gaza may now move in a fundamentally new direction.

How the Biden/Harris Policies Are Endangering Israel | Think Twice

Peloni:  In this conversation between Jonathan Tobin and Mike Doran, we come to gain a greater understanding of the ideological mentality which explains the seemingly inexplicable duplicity of the current US administration and its openly hostile posture towards America’s historic allies in preference of its open partnership with Iran.  Very revealing conversation, even for those who might already be well clued into this plot twist.

Professor Lichtman’s Crystal Ball

By Joe Fried,  August 2, 2024

Perhaps you have heard of Professor Allan Lichtman and his prediction for the 2024 presidential election.  He says that Kamala will win.

Lichtman uses a prediction system based on 13 historical “keys” that measure the strength of the incumbent party in a presidential election.  Some of his keys, such as the charisma level of the challenger, are highly subjective.  A list of keys is found here in a post by Andrea Widburg.

Israel Needs a War with Lebanon: Historian Gadi Taub

Peloni:  This is a must watch video.  Gadi is entirely correct.  Victory is essential to Israel’s survival, but the victory can not be limited to Hamas.  Israel needs to defeat Hezbollah, drive it North, and transfer the war zone in Israel into Lebanon.  The problem with this, of course, is the hostile position of the Americans which are protecting Hezbollah, as the US represents the interests of Iran against that of all its allies in the region including Israel.

J.D. Vance on fire over the plea deal for 9/11 dirty-tshirt terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohamma

Monica Showalter | August 1, 2024

Who the heck came up with the vile idea of letting Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, architect of 9/11, off with a plea deal?

J.D. Vance, a combat veteran of the George Bush-led wars set off as a result of that act, said what a lot of us would like to hear said, according to Fox News:

During a campaign speech Wednesday in Glendale, Arizona, Trump campaign vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance slammed the plea deal taken by three of the terrorists behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks awaiting trial in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.

From Israel: A Shift of Major Proportions!!

Arlene Kushner | August 1, 2024

Amos Ben-Gershom/GPO

Following the Hezbollah attack on 12 Israeli Druze children from the village of Majdal Shams last Saturday evening, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that the terror organization would pay a heavier price than it has paid to this point. But while it would be reprisal of significant proportions, it would not be so severe as to trigger a war with Hezbollah.

‘Astonishing’: Douglas Murray blasts Kamala Harris for ‘lecturing’ Israeli PM about war

Peloni:  The disingenuous attempt to rebrand Harris as mainstream overnight is even more insulting than the attempt to brand Biden as competent.  The choices could not be more distinct on every issue in this election, and most acutely so on the topic of Israel.  Should she become president, it will be a disaster for Israel no matter whom she might take as her VP.  Her debasement of Israel has been a mainstay of her commentary of the Gaza war.

Media Mourns ‘Moderate,’ ‘Pragmatic’ Hamas Leader Who Wanted to Kill All the Jews

“We love death like our enemies love life.”

Daniel Greenfield | August 1, 2024

After attending the inauguration of Iran’s new president among the festive chants of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh found death waiting for him.

“We always shout: ‘Death for the sake of Allah is our loftiest aspiration,’” Haniyeh had claimed.

The Hamas billionaire who lived in luxury in Qatar hadn’t actually wanted to die, but he should have been careful what he wished for before the missile granted him the death he cheered for.

U.S. Military Strikes Iran-Backed Militias in Iraq

FDD | July 31, 2024

Latest Developments

U.S. forces conducted a self-defense airstrike against Iran-backed terrorists in Iraq on July 30, according to U.S. officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to The Washington Post. According to Reuters, citing Iraqi police and medical sources, the United States targeted a base south of Baghdad, killing four fighters and injuring an additional four. The base is used by Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) — an Iraqi state-sponsored paramilitary network that was originally formed to combat ISIS but has been coopted by Iran and now contains multiple Iranian-backed militias that oppose the United States and Israel.
