U.S. Aid to Israel Hurts Israel. Biden Just Proved It. | Opinion

Peloni:  Israel needs to reestablish its independence from American by ending its dependence from Amerian ‘aid’.  Bibi recognized the problematic nature of the aid back in his first term in office and committed to ending the aid within ten years.  That was in 1996.  It is most regretful that this policy commitment failed to materialize, and even more regretful that Israeli reliance upon the aid actually became more acute in the nearly three decades which have passed.  It is time to cut the ties that bind Israel’s freedom of action, threatening its raison d’etre, the defense of the Jewish people.

By Liel Leibovitz Editor at large | Newsweek | Tablet Magazine

Last July, my colleague Jacob Siegel and I wrote a piece for Tablet Magazine entitled “End U.S. Aid to Israel.” It made three simple arguments.

First, American aid is anything but. The roughly $3.8 billion that flows from Washington to Jerusalem each year isn’t a gimme—it’s a backdoor subsidy to defense contractors that may be nominally based in the U.S. but are global corporations invested in global conflict. And whereas Israelis were previously allowed to spend up to 26 percent of the aid package on domestic products, the Obama administration changed the terms to make sure not a single dollar ever left the United States. To call this arrangement aid, then, is misleading; if you want to see what real American aid looks like, follow the dollars, $75 billion of which were awarded to Ukraine in 2022 alone.

Eden Golan: “Every scorn gave me strength, I dedicate the participation to the abductees”

Peloni:  The sense of bravery and spirit embodied by Golan, both on and off stage, has been highly effective in embodying the pluck of the Israeli people, refusing to be cowered into accepting defeat, and persevering against great odds as they effectively face their abusers with poise and skill.  Indeed, it is very inspiring to know that the the coming generation is characterized by people of such strength, vitality and creativity as demonstrated by Eden Golan.  The fact that her performance won a close second highest televoting score demonstrates the resonance with which her persona and performance resonated with the general publics of the world.

Israel’s representative finished fifth in Eurovision 2024 and Switzerland was crowned the winner. “We had one goal – to make Israel’s strong voice known to the world – and we achieved it in a big way,” Golan said, adding, “There were difficult moments, but we didn’t give up and gave it our all.” Keren Pels: “There are women and men who go through the worst of all in Gaza. We will continue to express their voice even after Eurovision”

After almost completely ignoring the judges, Eden Golan came in fifth place tonight (between Saturday and Sunday) in Eurovision thanks to the score from the audience. “I’m so proud of where we got to,” she said shortly after the results were announced. “Proud for the privilege I was given to represent my country with honor, and proud to be the one sent on this mission this year.”

How Far Trump Would Go

T. Belman. The transcript of the full interview is at the bottom of page. This article omits, inter alia, what Trump had to say about the two-state solujtion.

“There was a time when I thought two states could work. Now I think two states is going to be very, very tough.”

“A Palestinian state would be a terrorist state that would endanger the existence of Israel and the international pressure to establish it is an injustice on a historical scale,”

By ERIC CORTELLESSA , TIME

What emerged in two interviews with Trump, and conversations with more than a dozen of his closest advisers and confidants, were the outlines of an imperial presidency that would reshape America and its role in the world. To carry out a deportation operation designed to remove more than 11 million people from the country, Trump told me, he would be willing to build migrant detention camps and deploy the U.S. military, both at the border and inland.

Biden ends the US-Israel alliance at a fortuitous moment

Peloni:  Glick describes the fundamental shift of support by the Democratic party from being a strong supporter of Israel to being a strong supporter of Iran.  She notes that there is but one choice for American Jews in the coming US election, as both Israel and Jewish rights will be on November ballot.  What goes unstated however is that there is but one choice for Americans in general, Jews and Gentiles alike, in the coming election, as America too will be on the ballot.  Hopefully, the support for Trump will be too great to be defeated once again by the election fraud which betrayed the will of the American people in the 2020 election.

So far, administration sychophants have not succeeded in turning the American people against either the Jewish state or the Jewish people.

War Against the Weak: The Chilling Story of America’s Dark Dalliance with Eugenics

Peloni:  This is an important article which chronicles the use of eugenics to support attempts to support racists agendas, a policy which began in America and was later exported to Germany.

By Janet Levy | American Thinker | May 10, 2024

Nazi Germany wasn’t the first nation to be enamored with racial purity and a master race.

It was America.

Proponents of eugenics gained immense influence here in the early 20th century.  They hoped to incarcerate millions of “unfit” Americans in colonies, forbid them from marrying, or forcibly sterilize them so that, within several generations, only white Nordics would remain.  For them, this was ultimately a global enterprise.

Historian and prolific author Edwin Black chronicles this dark phase of American history in his extensively researched book War Against the Weak: Eugenics and America’s Campaign to Create a Master Race.  He charts how dubious scientific studies gained support and led to forced sterilizations, segregation, marriage prohibitions, and immigration restrictions for targeted populations. Haunted by Weimar

Israel’s Supreme Court relies on the discredited theories of Nazi jurist Carl Schmitt to justify its antidemocratic rule

During the turbulent years of the Weimar Republic, the idea that there are limits on the people’s power to amend the constitution was raised in public discourse by Adolf Hitler. In preparing for the 1932 presidential election, the parties supporting the Weimar Republic united behind the incumbent President Paul von Hindenburg. However, the 84-year-old ex-general wanted to avoid campaigning for reelection. For this reason, the “Weimar coalition” proposed an amendment to Article 41 of the Weimar Constitution to enable the Reichstag to extend Hindenburg’s term through a simple parliamentary vote. In opposition to this amendment, Hitler argued that there were limits on the ability to amend the Weimar Constitution.

An Open Letter to the Jewish People

“Gather about you all who observe the law, and avenge your people. Pay back the Gentiles what they deserve, and observe the precepts of the law.”

By Stephen Schecter, FUTURE OF JEWISH    11 May 2024

When the ancient Greek king’s emissary came to the ancient Israeli city of Modi’in and demanded that the Jews make a sacrifice to the pagan gods, Mattityahu refused, stabbed the Jew who was ready to submit, and called his people to revolt.

“Let everyone who is zealous for the law and who stands by the covenant follow me,” he cried.

Race Hustlers Are Destroying America

A new book underlines the desperate straits of the nation qua nation.

By Jude Russo, AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE    10 May 2024

The Unprotected Class: How Anti-White Racism Is Tearing America ApartJeremy Carl, Regnery, 256 pages.

The latter decades of the Ottoman empire are occasionally held up as a golden age of pluralism and tolerance; in some respects, they were, particularly after the British put the kibosh on the lion’s share of the Arab slave trade. The empire’s non-Turkish, non-Muslim populations were organized into millets, or “nations,” governed by the laws particular to their religious and national groups. Armenians, Syrian Christians, Greek Orthodox, a variety of Jews, Arab Catholics—all were able to practice their religions and participate in public life with relative impunity under their own leaders, who answered to the sovereign of the sublime House of Osman, sultan of sultans, khan of khans, kalif, padishah, etc., who generally had more pressing concerns than micromanaging the affairs of the millets.

Here’s Why Russia’s Making A Fresh Push Into Ukraine’s Kharkov Region

By ANDREW KORYBKO’S NEWSLETTER    11 May 2024

The five objectives that are enumerated in this piece encapsulate what Russia nowadays aims to achieve after over two years of intense proxy warfare with NATO.

Zelensky claimed on Friday that Russia’s long-awaited offensive had finally begun following its fresh push into Kharkov Region from which it tactically pulled back in September 2022. This precedes him likely clinging to power on legally dubious pretexts once his term expires on 21 May and aligns with the Ukrainian Intelligence Committee’s prediction of political-military troubles heading into his summer. Here are the five objectives that Russia arguably aims to achieve in view of the conflict’s larger context:

Politicians – the Enemy of the People

E. Rowell:  This critique is written from the standpoint of politicians in the U.K., the EU, Canada, and the U.S.A.  While some politicians in Israel fit this description, I do not think Prime Minister Netanyahu deserves this particular critique.  Of all heads of state across the globe, he is one of the very few who are standing up for his people and protecting the country. Many globalist billionaires support empowering Iran, Hamas, and the anti-Zionist movement in the US, as part of that goal to destroy the US and Israel.

By Paul Weston, THE CONSERVATIVE WOMAN 10 May 2024

HAS there ever been a time when the ideology and actions of Western politicians have been so out of kilter with the wishes of the electorate? I would say no, there has not. An honest appraisal would conclude that our ruling class long ago crossed the democratic Rubicon and is now a genuine enemy of the people.

Defending Freedom: A Tribute to the Warriors of Israel

By Nils A. Haug, GATESTONE    10 May 2024

As with the warriors of King David, the soldiers of Israel are again surrounded by enemies driven by hatred for the values represented by the Jewish nation and seeking their eradication. Once more, Israelis are called upon to resist forces threatening their destiny.  Pictured:  Israeli soldiers inspect the entrance to a Hamas terror tunnel just outside an UNRRWA compound in Gaza City, on February 8, 2024. • These assaults are not only aimed at Israel and its inhabitants but, ultimately, at the West.
  • Adversaries of the West — whether religious fundamentalists or authoritarian states such as China, Russia, and Iran and its allies — appear intent upon imposing a new totalitarian world order. To do so, they seek destruction of the two main countries standing in their way: United States of America and Israel, the global champions of democracy, freedom, Western values, and human rights.

Biden is betraying American interests as well as Israel

The arms cutoff shows that Washington wants to let Hamas win the war it started on Oct. 7. This will do incalculable harm to U.S. interests abroad and at home.

This isn’t the first dispute between the governments of the United States and Israel. Nor is it the first time that Washington has used the supply of arms to try to pressure the Jewish state to bend to its will. But there is no precedent for what President Joe Biden has just done.

By declaring that he will stop supplying weapons to Israel, including high-tech heavy bombs and artillery shells, if it seeks to enter Rafah and eliminate Hamas’s last remaining stronghold in Gaza, the president was making a clear declaration that the United States was mandating an end to the war that the terrorist group began with the massacre of men, women and children on Oct. 7.
