Israel’s War Cabinet approves first phase of Rafah operation

After residents of southern most city in Strip told to evacuate to safe zones, ministers vote unanimously in favor of operation following Hamas deadly strike on Kerem Shalom crossing and failure of hostage release negotiations

Itamar Eichner, Einav Halabi | YNET | May 6, 2024

Israel’s War Cabinet approved on Sunday the launch of a military operation in Rafah, which began with the evacuation of Gazans from the eastern part of the city near the border with Israel earlier on Monday. Two incidents preceded the decision – Hamas’ insistence on ending the war and the deadly rocket attack on the Kerem Shalom crossing in which four soldiers were killed.

Despite the ongoing public threats, mainly from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sunday marked the first time in the last four months — since an operation in Rafah was put on the agenda — that Netanyahu presented the first phase of the Rafah operation and demanded that War Cabinet ministers state their position on the matter. Ministers raised questions during the discussion, and eventually, one by one, decided to approve the operation’s first stage.

Senior Biden administration officials have been coordinating since at least early 2022 with an outside anti-Israel group to isolate Jewish Israelis living in the West Bank, internal government emails show. The previously unreported emails show top officials at both the State and Defense Departments fielding concerns from Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN), a human rights group that is highly critical of the Israeli government and has lobbied the Biden administration to cut off military aid to the Jewish state. Yom HaShoah: Comparing US protests against a real genocide in the 1940s with the parties on campus in 2024

By ELDER OF ZIYON    6 May 2024

Mass rally inside and outside Madison Square Garden against the Holocaust, July 31, 1944

The best evidence that even the college students who joined the anti-Israel encampments don’t really believe that there is a genocide in Gaza comes from the students themselves.
These camps were not places of anguish, but parties.

The End of Old Left-wing Mythologies

The one-eyed Jack American Left has been flipped over, and what turned up proved frightening.

By Victor Davis Hanson,    AMERICAN GREATNESS    6 May 2024

The current radical and often violent protests on mostly blue-state, supposedly elite campuses have exposed in toxic fashion what the left has become. And yet, in a paradoxical fashion, the campus insanity has offered the nation some moral clarity.

What’s surprising is not that the demonstrators are violent and nihilist, but that they are, on the one hand, so openly and crudely anti-Semitic, racist, and anti-American, and yet on the other hand, so passive-aggressive, narcissistic, and weepy.

Men Begin the Masculine Pushback

Like the UNC frat brothers, real men will fight back against relentless attacks.

By Lou Aguilar, AMERICAN SPECTATOR    5 May 2024

There was a Code of the West — in the movie West if not the old one. You can mock a man, attack his manhood, humiliate him. You can even believe the things you say to him, and about him. But you’d better be ready when he shows you what he’s made of, or you’ll end up on the saloon floor. The best depiction of this principle appears in the Western masterpiece, Shane.

Netanyahu Cabinet Unanimously Votes to Shut Down Al Jazeera in Israel

Peloni: This has been long overdue.  The govt should follow this up by defunding Haaretz and ending govt subscriptions to a new organization which, contrasting with Al Jazeera, provides an Israeli perspective much aligned with Al Jazeera and whose reportings are routinely used to attack the Israeli govt and undermine the state by all of Israel’s enemies and many of her ‘friends’.

Israel’s communications minister lauded the decision as ‘an end to the network’s well-oiled incitement machine’; Israel Police raided the channel’s Jerusalem office and confiscated equipment; Al Jazeera slammed the decision, calling it a ‘slanderous and deceptive move’

The Machinery of Fascism Revisited

By Jeffrey Tucker | Brownstone Institute | May 5, 2024

Fascism became a swear word in the US and UK during the Second World War. It has been ever since, to the point that the content of the term has been drained away completely. It is not a system of political economy but an insult.

If we go back a decade before the war, you find a completely different situation. Read any writings from polite society from 1932 to 1940 or so, and you find a consensus that freedom and democracy, along with Enlightenment-style liberalism of the 18th century, were completely doomed. They should be replaced by some version of what was called the planned society, of which fascism was one option.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have been embroiled in high-intensity battles across multiple fronts, both within and outside of Israel. The replenishment of damaged military platforms and components and the provision of essential ammunition have become paramount to the war effort. However, two key factors have significantly complicated this mission.

Biden to Trade Nukes to Terrorists for Election Day Bribes

An impeachable quid-pro-quo that could kill millions of Americans.

Daniel Greenfield | Front Page Magazine | May 6, 2024

The Biden administration and the Saudis are reportedly cooking up a deal.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Saudis will get nuclear capability, defense guarantees and a terrorist state inside Israel. And what will the United States get? Temporarily lower prices.

The Saudis are not offering to boost oil production to bring down prices as a favor to America, but to Biden. And it’s an election quid-pro-quo that may cost millions of Americans their lives.

The Biden administration has halted a shipment of U.S.-made ammunition to Israel, Axios reported on Sunday, citing two officials in Jerusalem.

According to the U.S. news outlet, last week’s decision to place the shipment on hold left the Israeli government concerned, as it is the first time since Hamas’s Oct. 7 massacre that the U.S. has halted military aid to the Israel Defense Forces.

Do We Have What it Takes to Live in the Middle East?

By Victor Rosenthal  May 5, 2024

The struggle to establish and maintain a Jewish sovereign state in Eretz Yisrael has lasted more than one hundred years. Since 1948, the existence of the state has hung in the balance several times. This is one of them.

Our endless war is primarily with the Palestinian Arabs, but other nations join in confrontation from time to time. The war is at bottom a tribal/religious war, between Muslims and Jews over this land. Despite various shifting alliances, and despite the involvement on either side of various non-Muslim powers and their maneuvering for access to the resources and strategic aspects of the Middle East, one single fact is unchanging and underlies the hostility directed at Israel: Muslims cannot tolerate a sovereign Jewish entity in Dar al Islam. It is an affront to Islam and an affront to the honor of the Muslims who have been defeated – to their minds, only temporarily – by Jews.

PM addresses the negotiations for a hostage deal, blames Hamas intransigence for lack of deal and says surrendering to its demands would invite repeats of October 7.

After the cabinet meeting today (Sunday), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the negotiations for a deal to secure the release of the hostages held by Hamas and accused the media of harming the efforts to free the hostages.

“I would like to refer to trending publications in the media, publications that cause damage to the negotiations for the release of the hostages, and also to unnecessary suffering for the families of the hostages who are going through a nightmare,” Netanyahu began.
