Peloni:  It is a disturbing observation to note that Trump having suggested the possibility of talking with Hezbollah.  Doing so would only serve to raise their political standing while ignoring literally thousands of American deaths on their hands, as well as their role in the subsidizing and coordinating with the ongoing drug trade which Trump has been facing down in America.  While it is stated that ‘conventional’ approaches have thus far failed, it should be noted that the only approaches to deal with Hezbollah have been thru negotiations based on promises of disarmament used to force Israel back across an undefensible border which ultimately led to the continued slaughter of Israelis in the North.  What would be an unconventional step would be to support an Israeli buffer zone til such time as already agreed upon stipulations made by Lebanon, including by Pres. Aoun himself, of disarming Hezbollah was enacted.  Of course, Aoun wants Israel out of Lebanon first, but that is the very mechanism on which the past ‘conventional’ approaches were based and failed.  Time for a new approach, and talking with terrorists won’t solve the crisis.  It will only serve to distract from the fact that the old approaches of forcing Israeli concessions is also the basis of the new approach.  Thus far Aoun has disarmed not a single Hezbollah soldier and Israel is being forced into a ‘pilot’ test program.  Forcing Lebanon to act would be a new approach, but it seems thus far that is not the path being pursued, which is why it will almost certainly fail.

Terror group has built network across the continent, established multiple weapons caches

The Hamas terrorist organization planned to carry out a large-scale terror attack on Jewish or Israeli targets in Europe to coincide with the second anniversary of the Oct. 7 invasion and massacre in Israel, according to a report by the Swiss Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) this week.

The report came on the heels of the latest in a series of arrests of Hamas operatives in Europe, highlighting the consistent efforts by the terror group to exploit the ability to easily travel within the European Union to coordinate attacks and create weapon depots.

Peloni:  The lack of oversight associated with the US-Saudi nuclear deal is beyond belief.  Is it truly Washington’s intent that Saudi Arabia become a nuclear power?  The transactional nature of Trump’s foreign policy is going to form a very troubling outcome for the future of both the region and for America’s future.  Instead of pursuing even a temporary stabilizing policy for the region, which would come from the Abraham Accords, Trump is providing the region with the means of pursuing nuclear proliferation.  There is no good outcome from this, none at all.

Peloni: This is a must see video by Dr. Sheila Nazrian in which she provides a stirring description of the deep connection between what is taking place in America today with what took place in Iran during the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979.  Nazarian recounts her family’s harrowing escape from Iran during the Islamic Revolution, describing how they were smuggled out in 1985 hidden under burlap sacks and corn in the back of a truck. She details the terrifying journey across the desert to the Pakistani border, where they endured gunshots from border police before eventually making their way to Vienna and finally entering the United States. Drawing from this lived experience, Nazarian warns her audience that she recognizes the patterns of that revolution— which she says turned Iran into a “prison for women” and a state sponsor of terrorism—emerging again today. She asserts that she has “seen this movie before” and urges Americans to recognize these dangerous ideological shifts before history repeats itself.  At about 12 minutes into the speech, Nazarian addresses the students who are today acting as useful idiots in the remaking of the tragedy of her childhood, challenging them with the fact that they have no conception of what the world would look like without America and that Israel stands on the front line of battle in the war between civilization and barbarism.

Peloni:  Was Netanyahu’s move to take significant if not full control over the Likud list the real reason that we saw the recent resignations of MKs Yuli Edelstein and Dan Illouz?  While the mirage of an emerging anti-Likud party seemed to evaporate over the past several months, the close timing of these resignations to Bibi’s consolidating power around himself makes this conclusion reasonable.  It is noytable that Likud used to be remarkable for its democratic election of leader and party lists.  Ultimately, the voters will stand in judgement of Bibi’s move to solidify his control in the party, but it isn’t a point of strength which led him towards this policy shift, even as it may have the potential of making the party stronger.  Time will tell.

Of further note, the Right needs to focus on solidarity as the election draws closer.  Maximizing the preservation of lost votes is how the national camp came to power in 2022 and if such a focus is not once again the fundamental focus of the entire Right Bloc, it may see their majority electoral support dissolve before a Left Bloc victory.
