When Times of Israel published West Bank settlements are legal, Foreign Ministry asserts in Dec/15, I was generally pleased, thinking that the document the Foreign Ministry was publishing, supported the legality of the settlements. I assumed that it also asserted our rights to the land. I shouldn’t have assumed anything and I should have read the article.

[The document] states that Israel has “valid property claims” to West Bank territory, as “Jewish affinity” with the region and in cities such as Hebron is thousands of years old.

When reading this, I failed to notice that it didn’t support our “valid property claims” based on San Remo Resolution, The Palestine Mandate, and Article 80 of the UN Charter, which specifically preserves these rights. To my mind this was a huge omission and must have been intended.

David Singer has been alone in promoting the so-called, Saudi Plan, for the Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine.  Arutz Sheva mistitled his last attempt as Israel set to uncork Hashemite Kingdom genie at UN.

Nowhere in the article is there any mention of Israel’s reaction to the “Saudi Plan” let alone its intention to promote it at the UN.

Not only has Israel not mentioned it, Saudi Arabia hasn’t either.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s incoming government’s coalition agreement begins with a declaration that the Jewish people have a “natural right” to the Land of Israel. Regarding annexation of the West Bank, the agreement remains vague but says the prime minister will advance policies within whose framework the West Bank will be annexed, taking into consideration timing and both international and national interests.

The death of a Jordanian police officer during riots that began with fuel price protests in Jordan appears to represent a rare and violent challenge to authority. The incident took place in the southern city of Ma’an.

“The authorities said the policeman was killed on Thursday night by a gunshot fired by an unidentified individual when armed officers entered a neighborhood of Ma’an to quell riots,” Al Jazeera reported. “Youths had attacked government property in the city.”
