PELONI: Take note that there is no reference to forming a Broad Unity Govt in Netanyahu’s speech, but he does call for the uniting of the “Zionist Jewish Majority”. Is this a reference to the Right Bloc alone, or the inclusion of the Left as well. I think it will be the latter, rather than just the former.

PELONI: Exit Poll Upset — In another miraculous turn of events, it seems that Avigdor Lieberman’s party has failed to pass the minimum threshold and has thus burned every vote cast for him.

The potential failure of Israel Beitenu to pass the threshold leaves the Right bloc with the numbers needed to form a government but the question remains if this can actually  be accomplished.  It is highly ironic that Lieberman’s poor showing in this election is what might offer his former allies on the Right the means by which to remain in power.  Yet the irony extends beyond this, as the only reason that Liberman fell below the threshold was due to the historic Arab vote, which means that the Left’s attempt to motivate a strong Arab vote to support their defeat of the national camp resulted in burning Lieberman’s vote bloc and providing the national camp with a majority and a possibility of forming a new Right wing govt.

Time will tell, of course, if this is actually what happens.

If Channel 14’s projection proves accurate, Netanyahu would have enough seats to form a government with his existing right-wing and religious partners.

PELONI: Channel twelve shows Netanyahu with more votes than Eisenkot , but Eisenkot having a larger block.

Channel 12 shows lacude, with 24 seats, Yashar with 22, but i24 news reports that Likud has 27 to 20 seats. Meanwhile, channel 14 exit polls show Netanyahu having 60 seats just one seat short of being able to form a government.

Now we have to wait for election returns to see how accurate any of these numbers are.  Recall that in 2022, the Right block brought in 64 seats, but they were  only expected to have as many as sixty two seats by channel Channel 14’s polling.

PELONI:  Like a fist, Israelis must unite with a forward looking vision for a better, safer and more prosperous tomorrow.  While differences persist among the nation’s various factions, the most unsettling aspect of Israeli society over the last 5 years has been the effort to actually grow divisions into insurrection, something which ultimately motivated the assault on the Gaza envelop and triggering the war which began soon afterwards.  In the twilight which breached the end of the slaughter and the beginning of the resulting war, Israelis found a strength which stretched beyond the inciting rhetoric and which saw the nation as a whole act as one to face its enemies one by one.  While the conclusion of these wars are still before us, the need for that sense of unity, the oneness of purpose and the quiet resolve of a nation which will not be defeated are required now more than ever.   Only thru unity while rejecting the calls for divisions will Israel push thru the serious dilemmas which still face it today, from challenges coming from both allies and enemies.

PELONI:  Bill Ackman provides a very troubling call to have Netanyahu set aside his Right bloc partners so as to regain “credibility” and American support.  This presupposes that the loss of credibility and of American support has actually been substantially based on Israeli actions rather than on the campaign of Jew Hatred which saw Astroturf parades supporting the Hamas attacks on October 7 form on the streets across the world within 24 hours of the attack.  More than this, the Democratic party has sold out to embracing and promoting Jew Hating candidates in their party who actually promote the normalization of terror groups who have actual American blood on their hands, while the efforts of Tucker Carlson and others to promote Jew Hatred on the Right support an equally alarming embrace of America’s enemies including Iran and Qatar.  Meanwhile the rejection of the Two State Solution and Israel’s refusal to surrender to Hamas and Iran have been the formative bases on which Israel’s “credibility” with the international community, and the Arab states, has been challenged.

Meanwhile what is true about the international effort to delegitimize Ben Gvir and Smotrich is that they represent an intolerance for what is known as the Old Conceptzia which has over the years adopted the premise that hostile actors should be tolerated both inside and outside Israel’s borders so as to appease US, European and Arab state interlocutors who are determined to pursue the creation of a second Muslim Palestinians State (Jordan was the original Muslim Palestinian state).  In fact, this is the publicly stated reason voiced by MBS for why he will not normalize relations with Israel.

Removing Ben Gvir and Smotrich from Netanyahu’s govt would change none of this and it would leave either the Left in power or a Netanyahu led govt which was dependent upon the Left which would at best be dysfunctional if not openly accepting of American demands of surrendering to Hamas and the renewal of the Two State nightmares.

Israel needs a strong independent nation, capable of resisting foreign pressure, something that Netanyahu recently referenced, rather than a return to the Old Conceptzia which was based in no small part on appeasing Israel’s erstwhile allies and enemies alike.
