“I grew up in an America that made room for different points of view that could tolerate political differences. I grew up where we could attend ball games together without worrying about who voted for whom, where we could attend different schools and recognize our differences without trying to beat each other into submission… Most of all, I grew up in an America where we could all participate in a search for truth, without fear that the mere searching would end in our societal excommunication.”

That America is rapidly disappearing.

Opposition Leader Benjamin Netanyahu has again proposed a coalition deal to Defense Minister Benny Gantz whereby the Blue and White chief would become prime minister, it was reported Friday.

Unnamed sources close to Gantz, who himself did not comment on the Channel 12 report, confirmed that the defense minister met with Netanyahu at the end of the most recent Knesset session, saying it was part of attempts to shore up support for a law that regulates exemptions from army service for many members of the ultra-Orthodox community.

A year after the photo-ops in Washington DC and the breathless reports from the footsteps of the Burj Khalifa, the United Arab Emirates believes that economic activity with Israel could reach more than $1 trillion over the next decade.

That stratospheric figure was touted this week by Emirati Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al-Marri during a virtual event marking the first anniversary of the Abraham Accords, the historic US-brokered agreement that normalized ties between Israel and the UAE, quickly followed by Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.

T. Belman.  On the one hand he wants to annex Judea and Samaria and on the other hand he does not talk about extending sovereignty. Be that as it may, I agree that Bennett policies regarding the Arabs in Judea and Samaria is to make them feel good about being part of Israel. His efforts to strengthen the PA flies in the face of this.

Perhaps this is why he is not worked up about illegal Arab construction in Area C.

So what did we have in Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s holiday interviews? He spoke politely to his interviewers, was careful not to anger them or the viewers at home, and handed out an abundance of credits to his ministers and coalition partners. What can we say – the very essence of change. It’s hard to believe that the polite reader of the talking points is the same Bennett who once competed with former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over pithy slogans. Where are the days of “no more apologies,” and “Bennett will beat Hamas,” and of course, the hit that catapulted him into government: “How to beat a pandemic.”

As any casual observer could tell, the 2020 election was a mess. Now we have real data—from a federal agency, no less—that proves it.

Based on data from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, an analysis by the Public Interest Legal Foundation shows almost 15 million mail ballots effectively disappeared after election officials gave them to the U.S. Postal Service to deliver to voters.

Gone, like the Bermuda Triangle of the election.

Legal experts are puzzled by why the Tax Court of Canada prevented a Jewish judge from presiding for several months in cases involving members of the Islamic faith rather than removing him entirely from the bench until allegations against him were resolved.

It is more puzzling that Judge David Spiro would be subjected to the humiliating and severe measure of being barred from presiding over cases involving Muslims, suggesting that there is far more involved in this story than meets the eye. The suggestion of temporarily removing him from the bench altogether until resolution of the “allegations” is even more jarring.

Most Americans are unaware of the phrase “War Between the Wars.” It describes Israel’s low-grade war with Iran, Hezbollah and Iranian proxies in Iraq and Syria to stop Iran from transforming “Syria and Iraq into missile-launching pads,” as it has in Lebanon. The goal is to prevent a permanent Iranian presence on Israel’s doorstep with advanced weaponry that could tip the scales against Israel’s qualitative military edge.

In 2012, Israel began targeting the transfer of missiles from Iran to Lebanon through Syria and Iraq. In response to Israel’s success, Iran began building missile and drone factories throughout the region, which Israel subsequently also attacked. Preventing a permanent Iranian presence in Syria analogous to Iran’s foothold in Lebanon is a “red line” that Israel will not allow Iran to cross again, or the War Between the Wars will turn hot very quickly.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The violent Arab-Israeli riots that took place in Israel’s cities during the last Gaza war are a corollary of the widespread lawlessness and rebelliousness that has been taking root in parts of Israel’s Arab society for some time, and which can cause vast damage to the fabric of Israeli life if left unattended.

Over the last two decades, Israeli citizens, especially in the Negev and the Galilee, have been suffering from steadily growing domestic terrorism in the form of violent extortion, racketeering, and plundering committed by Israeli Arabs. There is hardly a Jewish farmer whose property or crops have not been stolen or set on fire. And while the phenomenon has not been exclusively targeted at Jews, it has distinctly nationalist dimensions, both in its deliberate violation of the sovereignty of the State of Israel and in its trampling on the physical safety and dignity of the Jewish population. So much so that it echoes the precarious millenarian existence of the Jews as an eternal minority living on the sufferance of the respective majorities (known in the Islamic world as Dhimmis)—a status that the establishment of a Jewish state was supposed to obliterate.

Defense Minister Benny Gantz said he is prepared to accept a scenario in which the US manages to revive an Iran nuclear deal, in a rare comment from a senior government official not rejecting the multilateral accord out of hand.

“The current US approach of putting the Iran nuclear program back in a box, I’d accept that,” Gantz told Foreign Policy in an interview published Tuesday, employing rhetoric used by the Biden administration to describe the goal of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Pro-Iranian militias have increasingly used drones to target US forces. In the last week they allegedly flew a drone toward Erbil International Airport to target US forces in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Could those militias in Iraq now be working more closely with Palestinians? In an article at the pro-Iranian site Al-Mayadeen, hints of closer cooperation emerged this week.
