Israel won’t stop demolishing homes of accused terrorists to appease Washington, a minister said Saturday, as the father of a terror victim expressed “shock” at the recent US criticism of the razing of his son’s killer’s home.
“We are doing what’s good for the State of Israel,” Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel of the New Hope party told the Kan public broadcaster.

Interestingly, near the end, Professor Gelernter (Computer Science, Yale) observes that despite the entirely scientific nature of the arguments raised showing the inability of Darwin’s theory to account for origins, rather that fine-tuning of species, the push-back from his colleagues was highly emotional, ad hominem and did not address the scientific issues (e.g., lack of sufficient time, missing predicted fossil records, top-down rather than bottom-up nature of communicating systems.)
It would appear that there is now an ideological component to Darwinisn, and anyone attacking it is dealt with in very much like someone attacking some religions during medieval times or attacking favoured ideologies at the ptesent. Regardless, an interesting and enlightening conversation.

The American Raymond Ibrahim has just published a fascinating and erudite history of the centuries-old conflicts between Islam and Christianity: L’épée et le cimeterre (Jean-Cyrille Godefroy Editions). This book is the almost exhaustive account of the fourteen centuries of antagonisms and fights, major or minor, which took place…. A historian, linguist and philologist, and a specialist in oriental languages, Ibrahim has methodically exploited first-hand sources, both Muslim and “Western”, and has consulted numerous manuscripts from the Library of Congress in Washington. His book is not only a detailed chronicle of the battles, it is also and above all a rigorous analysis of the intentions and strategies of the various warring leaders. Ibrahim shows that the Muslim forces were essentially obeying a religious, messianic, expansionist, conquering logic, whereas the Christian armies wanted above all to recover territories that for centuries had been Roman, Greek and Christian. He also shows that the religious fervor of today’s Islamists overlaps exactly with ancestral Islamic dogmas, that Western reactions are 1400-year-old self-defense mechanisms, and that current rivalries are the reflection of a very old existential struggle. This is quite a coincidence: 2 days after Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano announced that the committee he heads was preparing a forensic audit of the 2020 presidential election, the White House announced a trip to Pennsylvania by President Biden “to deliver remarks on actions to protect the sacred constitutional right to vote.”

A large explosion was heard in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Friday evening, local media reported.
The explosion was reportedly heard in the northern part of the city. A fire department spokesman said that fire and rescue teams were sent to the scene.
After the disputed 2020 election with questionable results in numerous states, millions of President Trump supporters were enraged. There were election challenges and protests across the country.
The major protest on January 6 in Washington D.C. was the culmination of weeks of rallies across the country. Although estimates vary widely, the January 6 rally featuring President Trump, attracted at least 500,000 supporters.
The overwhelming majority of the participants heeded President Trump’s plea to “peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” Some participants marched to the U.S. Capitol and about 900 people entered the building.

This week, Israel signed a deal for the immediate transfer to South Korea of 700,000 doses of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine which are due to expire at the end of this month. In exchange, South Korea will return the same amount of vaccines to Israel from a future order later this year.
This is a win-win deal. Israel has found a good use for vaccines surplus to its current requirements and which would otherwise shortly expire; South Korea is being helped to accelerate its vaccination program.

The United Nations, the successor to the failed League of Nations, is now in its 75th session. However, while seventy-five may be a big milestone, the UN has few reasons to celebrate. Although born amidst high hopes, the UN is now a systemically rotten organization that is embracing failure, repeating the errors its founders warned to avoid.
One factor in the League’s failure – an often cited one – was the departure of many states, including Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Imperial Japan, and Soviet Russia. Germany left due to disagreements about disarmament, Italy left after the League imposed sanctions on it for its invasion of Abyssinia and its use of chemical weapons, Japan departed after the League published a report blaming its conduct in Manchuria, and the USSR was expelled after it invaded Finland in 1939.

Joe Biden’s Justice Department wants the Lego Man kept behind bars—indefinitely.
Federal agents seized a plastic replica of the Capitol building from the Pennsylvania home of Robert Morss during his arrest on June 11. Justice Department officials are citing the Lego model as evidence in the criminal case against Morss for his involvement in the January 6 protest: “During his arrest, law enforcement recovered some clothing and other items that appear to match those he carried with him on the 6th—including a ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ flag, a neck gaiter, a military utility bag, a black tourniquet, and military fatigues. (Law enforcement also recoverd [sic] a fully constructed U.S. Capitol Lego set.)”
So wrote government prosecutors in a July 2 filing asking the D.C. District Court to deny Morss’ release while he awaits trial on nine counts, including assaulting police officers and disorderly conduct.
