Fear, Control and the Authoritarian Abuse of Power

By |July 13th, 2021

The primary method by which governments increase their control is by creating fear. —Charles EisensteinAuthor

Neither a man nor a crowd nor a nation can be trusted to act humanely or to think sanely under the influence of a great fear. —Bertrand Russell

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. —H. L. Mencken

Power of the deep state.

T. Belman. This is a fascinating interview. In it, Cashill informs us that 25 years ago the deep state was powerful enough to coverup the truth about the downing of TWA flight 800. He continued his narrative to explain how it was used to coverup Obama’s true identity and his date of birth and to take Pres Trump down. He went so far as to explain that SCOTUS is a puppet of the deep state due to its fear about being assassinated by it.

The government’s diplomatic collapse

The most alarming aspect of Bennett’s secret meeting with Abdullah is the regional context in which it took place.

By Caroline B. Glick, ISRAEL HAYOM 07-12-2021 20:06

Jordan’s King Abdullah is the newest member of the Iranian axis. On June 27, Abdullah met in Baghdad with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kadhimi. The three leaders signed a deal to transport Iraqi oil to Europe through Jordan and Egypt. As Arab affairs scholar Dr. Edy Cohen put it in the Jerusalem Post, “This agreement is King Abdullah’s ‘coming out of the closet’ with Iran. It’s now official: Jordan is allied with Iran because Iraq is actually under Iran’s control.”

Just as Iran controls Lebanon through its Shiite proxy army Hezbollah, so Iran controls Iraq through the Iraqi Shiite militias that operate as its proxies.

Lapid to EU’s Top Diplomats: Two-state Solution Is Unfeasible

T. Belman.  It would appear that neither side is willing to change their position on Israel/Palestinian relations.

Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid is expected to announce Israel’s intention to join the Creative Europe program, which grants generous support to cultural initiatives but bars funding for projects in settlements

By Jonathan Lis, HAARETZ

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said on Monday that although he supports a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it is currently unfeasible. Lapid made the remarks as the main guest at a meeting of the European Union Foreign Affairs Council, which was attended by 26 EU foreign ministers.

“It is no secret that I support a two-state solution. Unfortunately, there is no current plan for this. However, there is one thing we all need to remember. If there is eventually a Palestinian state, it must be a peace-loving democracy. We cannot be asked to take part in the building of another threat to our lives,” the Israeli foreign minister said.

Is Israel preparing for the inevitable civil war in the West Bank?

By Eric Mandel, THE HILL  —

As President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken ponder how to entice the Palestinian Authority (PA) to negotiate with Israel, a far more significant problem is being ignored. The Biden team marched along, facilitating a transfer of money to the PA and reopening the U.S. Consulate in East Jerusalem, another Palestinian demand, without tangible reciprocity. But this will not reveal the elephant in the room: an inevitable, coming uprising by Hamas in the West Bank.

Hamas instigated the Gaza war in May as part of a strategy to weaken Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah party and increase Hamas’s popularity among Palestinian Arabs living in the West Bank. As Amos Harel writes in Haaretz, the rule of Abbas “is less stable. … The succession battles among his subordinates are being waged openly and, above all, Hamas is continuing to gain popularity against the backdrop of what is perceived as its success in standing up to Israel during the fighting in May.”

EU: New Political Alliance to Fight Creation of European Superstate

by Soeren Kern, GATESTONE INSTITUTE  •  July 12, 2021 at 5:00 am

    • The July 2 “Joint Declaration on the Future of the European Union” represents the first significant endeavor by euroskeptic parties to jointly oppose efforts by European federalists to transform the European Union into a godless multicultural superstate.
    • The document states that the European Union requires “profound reform” because, “instead of protecting Europe,” it has itself become “a source of problems, anxiety and uncertainty.” The signatories say that the EU has become a tool of “radical forces” that are determined to carry out a civilizational transformation of Europe. Their objective, they say, is to create a European superstate void of European traditions, social institutions or moral principles.

The end of Critical Race Theory

By Gamaliel Isaac, AM THINKER

Critical Race Theory is liable to end for reasons very similar to the reasons the Salem witch trials ended.

In January 1692, nine-year-old Elizabeth (Betty) Parris and 11-year-old Abigail Williams (the daughter and niece of Samuel Parris, minister of Salem Village) began having fits, including violent contortions and uncontrollable outbursts of screaming. After a local doctor, William Griggs, diagnosed bewitchment, other young girls in the community began to exhibit similar symptoms.

A special court, the court of Oyer and Terminer convened in Salem to hear the cases; and based on spectral evidence the first convicted witch, Bridget Bishop, was hanged that June. Eighteen others followed Bishop to Salem’s Gallows Hill, while some 150 more men, women, and children were accused over the next several months.

Leftwing Jewish groups Come to Defense of Antisemitic Muslim Nominated by ‘Biden’

By Gabriel Greschler, Jewish Weekly |

The American Jewish Committee and two figures in the Bay Area Jewish community have come out in defense of a nominee for a federal position who has been accused by GOP lawmakers of holding anti-Israel sentiments.

Dilawar Syed was nominated March 3 by President Joe Biden to be deputy administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration. If confirmed, he would become the highest ranking Muslim American in the Biden administration.

Who are the real colonizers in the Israel-Palestinian conflict?

Rather than condemning Israel, progressives in the West who recoil at “settler colonial projects” should embrace the Jewish state as an example of decolonization.

By James Sinkinson, JNS

Israel’s enemies have accused it of many outlandish transgressions over its 73 years. It has been called an offspring of Nazi Germany, a socialist outpost, a “Crusader nation” and an apartheid state. The Palestinian Arabs and their Western apologists happily appropriate the latest fad terminology describing something evil and attach it to the Jewish state.

One of the most persistent slurs against Israel in recent years, especially among academics, is pinning to it the label of “settler-colonial project” or simply “imperialist state.”

Like almost all the slanders against Israel, this one has a zero factual basis.

Bennett more American than Netanyahu as PM? – why it matters

Only three PMs out of 13 have lived in US for extensive periods – Meir, Netanyahu, and Bennett.

By TOVAH LAZAROFF, JPOST JULY 12, 2021

PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Education Minister Naftali Bennet (photo credit: SASSON TIRAM,REUTERS)
Can Prime Minister Naftali Bennett become the new face of Israel to the United States, effectively stripping his predecessor  Benjamin Netanyahu of the unofficial title he has held for almost four decades?

There have been only 13 prime ministers during Israel’s 73-year history.

Only three of them – Golda Meir, Netanyahu and Bennett – had lived in the US for extensive periods, including as children.

Arab Reactions to the New Israeli Government

By July 11, 2021

Mansour Abbas, Raam politician in the new Israeli government coalition, image via Twitter @MansourAbbas

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Arab states and their leaders do not treat Israel as they treat other countries. This includes even simple greetings on the occasion of a new government’s being installed. The main reason is the sympathy the Palestinian issue enjoys on the street in those nations, though the leaders themselves largely despise the Palestinians. The ascent of a Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated politician to the ruling coalition in Israel attracted much more interest in the Arab press than the ascent of Naftali Bennett to the PM position.

It is no surprise that Arab leaders can be very touchy on the subject of Israel. Consider, for example, the recent visit of the new UAE ambassador to Israel, Muhammad Mahmoud Khaja, to Rabbi Shalom HaCohen. The blessing given by the rabbi to the ambassador made headlines around the world, but the Arabic press called it the “scandal of the century.”

Bennett gives in to Ra’am’s demands: Bedouin affairs to be transferred to Welfare Min.

The government approved transfer of the Bedouin Development and Settlement Authority from the Ministry of Economy to Welfare.

 By Hezki Baruch , INN   Jul 11 , 2021 8:28 PM

????? ??????

At the request of the United Arab List (Ra’am) party, the government this evening (Sunday) approved the transfer of the senior branch of economic and social development in the Bedouin sector and the Bedouin Development and Settlement Authority from the Ministry of Economy to the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Services.

The move comes as part of a coalition agreements signed prior to the formation of the government. The Ra’am party announced this morning it would not be voting according to coalition demands until the move was enacted. In wake of the threat, Prime Minister Bennett decided to bring the issue before a vote.

Ivy League University President Insists Critical Race Theory’s ‘Scholarship’ Is ‘Urgent and Necessary’

By Alex Parker, RED STATE | Jul 10, 2021 6:00 PM ET

John Minchillo

We’re at war over Critical Race Theory.

That seems a reasonable conclusion, as forces presently fight for and against the ideology.

While legislatures move to ban CRT, academia and industry are increasingly embracing it (see “College President Claims ‘Critical Race Theory Is the New Communism,’ Means It as a Compliment“)

What We Can Do About It

by Victor Rosenthal    July 11, 2021

Last week I explained How They Did It, how the enemies of Israel – the Arabs, the Soviets, the international Left, and others – turned much of the West against us. What can we do about it?

I concentrated on the ‘softer’ aspects of cognitive warfare, such as the infiltration of higher education and international organizations like NGOs and UN agencies, corporations, the use of social media, the exploitation of minorities with grievances, and the support of public antisemites (e.g., Ilhan Omar). But we should keep in mind that more kinetic actions can also have primarily cognitive objectives. The PLO’s European terrorism during the 1970s paved the way for its conversion from a gang of despicable terrorists into a member of the UN, and for murderer and thief Yasser Arafat to become a “statesman.” The 9/11 attacks against the US changed the media portrayal of its Arab and Muslim citizens from “billionaires, bombers, and belly dancers” to hardworking citizens who are targets for islamophobic hatred (this is not the case with Jews, despite the fact that Jews are far more likely to be the victims of hate crimes today).

Israel vows to keep razing terrorists’ homes, as victim’s father pans US rebuke

Israel won’t stop demolishing homes of accused terrorists to appease Washington, a minister said Saturday, as the father of a terror victim expressed “shock” at the recent US criticism of the razing of his son’s killer’s home.

“We are doing what’s good for the State of Israel,” Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel of the New Hope party told the Kan public broadcaster.

Mathematical Challenges to Darwin’s Theory of Evolution

Prof David Nussbaum. If you want to enjoy an intellectual workout that perhaps will challenge some of your basic assumptions about the universe, this is a good way to spend an hour.

Interestingly, near the end, Professor Gelernter (Computer Science, Yale) observes that despite the entirely scientific nature of the arguments raised showing the inability of Darwin’s theory to account for origins, rather that fine-tuning of species, the push-back from his colleagues was highly emotional, ad hominem and did not address the scientific issues (e.g., lack of sufficient time, missing predicted fossil records, top-down rather than bottom-up nature of communicating systems.)

It would appear that there is now an ideological component to Darwinisn, and anyone attacking it is dealt with in very much like someone attacking some religions during medieval times or attacking favoured ideologies at the ptesent. Regardless, an interesting and enlightening conversation.
