The Pew Research Center today released a report of their survey, Jewish Americans in 2020. The new study of the size and character of US Jewry coincidentally appears just as Jews around the world prepare to celebrate Shabbat Bamidbar when we read the Book of Numbers’ description of the census of the Israelites in the desert. A scientific survey is not a census but does serve a similar function of providing a portrait of a community and highlighting its strengths and weaknesses.

Washington’s agenda is completely wrong – and incendiary

Jake Sullivan, President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, needs to get his facts right and his priorities straight.

By  Caroline B. Glick, ISRAEL HAYOM

Throughout the month of Ramadan, the Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority and Hamas have been inciting Arab Israelis in Jerusalem and throughout the country to attack Jews. And so it happened that at the outset of the month, Jews in Jerusalem, Jaffa and beyond found themselves beset by gangs of Arab thugs who beat them on the streets and light-rail cars just because they were Jews.

Last week, Hamas’ leaders announced their detailed plans to open a new campaign against Israel on May 9. May 9 was a conflation of three events: Jerusalem Day – Israel’s national holiday celebrating the unification of Jerusalem in 1967; Muslims marked the holiest day of the month of Ramadan, and Iran marked its own Jerusalem Day, whose purpose is to call for the destruction of Israel and end Jewish rule in Jerusalem.

Iran Building Precision-Guided Missiles for Hezbollah

What “resisting” Israel really means.

By Hugh Fitzgerald, FPM

Iran claims that its citizens are in Syria mainly to help with rebuilding the country’s infrastructure. Israel has good reason to think — and act — otherwise. Asked to comment on reports that Iran was building highly lethal weapons– precision-guided missiles — for Hezbollah, Iran feigned indignation. “Israel Intensifying Air War in Syria Against Iranian Encroachment,” Algemeiner, April 22, 2021:

Iran’s Foreign Ministry did not respond to requests for comment. Iran has said it has military advisers in Syria to help Assad’s forces, and will continue a policy “resisting” US and Israeli power in the wider Middle East.

Over 120 generals and admirals warn that administration policies are ‘national security threat’

By Carol Greenwald, AM THINKER

A day before the Senate markup of HR1 on May 11, 2021,( the Democrats’ power grab to federalize election laws in favor of progressive candidates), 124 retired admirals and generals issued an open letter to the American people warning that “Our nation is in deep peril. We are fighting for our survival as a Constitutional Republic like no other time since our founding in 1776.”

Biden Administration Supports Globalist Version of Multilateralism at the UN

By ——

U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken delivered virtual remarks on May 7th at the United Nations Security Council Open Debate on Multilateralism. The meeting was chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on behalf of China, which is this month’s president of the Security Council. Blinken spewed forth the same old same old Biden administration rhetoric about the critical importance of an international “rules-based order” and the administration’s commitment to multilateralism.

What you won’t read in western media about the Jerusalem riots

Ignore the lies. Here are some important facts

By Melanie Phillips      May 10/21

Israeli motorist rescued from attempted lynch, Arab riots, Jerusalem

As I write here in Jerusalem, sirens have sounded and explosions have been heard. It appears that rockets were fired by Hamas at the city. I am posting this now before finding out what is happening.

Further to my piece here yesterday about the Jerusalem riots, here’s some more information you won’t read in the venomously slanted media coverage which continues to obscure the Palestinian Arabs’ incitement and attacks that sparked these disturbances and which continues falsely to blame Israel instead for its behavior. In this twisted reporting, much of the British and American media continue to parrot the Palestinians’ narrative which, as always, seeks to obscure their own murderous and bigoted aggression by pretending that their Israeli victims are the aggressors while the Arabs are merely defending themselves.

East Jerusalem land ownership: Different rules for Jews, Arabs

T. Belman.  Why should the rules be the same. We won and they lost. Besides the Sheik Jarrod lands were taken from Jews in the first place and they are entitled to take it back.

Not mentioned in this analysis is that when Israel confiscated the land of absentee Arab owners, they placed money in trust in place of the land and equivalent to its value at that time.  Many absentee owners refused to accept the money. Now the money is a small fraction of the current value.

Just after the 1948-1949 War of Independence, the Absentee Assets Law was used to take over homes and lands that Arabs had left empty or abandoned during or following the fighting.

Wadi al-Joz in east Jerusalem

Although the bigger issues headlining the current dispute at Sheikh Jarrah and the Temple Mount are about nationalism and religion, the immediate impetus for the crisis comes out of the little understood Absentee Assets Law.

How did this law come about historically, what does it mean today and why does it seem to favor Jews over Arabs?

IDF International Spokesperson: We see this as a severe attack against Israel, an attack that will not go unanswered.

By Elad Benari, INN      May 10 , 2021 11:35 PM

IDF International Spokesperson Jonathan Conricus on Monday evening provided an update on the situation in Israel after dozens of rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel.

America’s blood chit: Is our promise worth the silk it’s written on?

T. Belman.  This “blood chit” reminded me of  Israel’s similar dilemma.  She invaded South Lebanon  to drive out Arafat’s PLO and to protect the “Marcionite Christians who lived there.  She helped the Christians form an army that worked in conjunction with the IDF.  When Israel decided to leave she left the Christian Army high and dry. Ultimately she let perhaps 3000 Christian soldiers  emigrate to Israel with their families. This was a small number and and Israel was seriously criticised for abandoning the Christians.

BY Retired Maj. Gen. Steven Lepper, THE HILL

I was first introduced to a “blood chit” as a young major at the Pentagon. My boss put a file on my desk filled with yellowed newspaper clippings describing how a Korean farmer helped an Air Force pilot downed behind enemy lines return to friendly territory. The farmer was killed by the North Koreans for “sympathizing” with Americans. The file also contained a request from the farmer’s family for compensation based on the promises contained in the downed airman’s “blood chit.” My job as the legal advisor to the Joint Services Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) Agency was to adjudicate the claim based on the evidence available.

A blood chit is a document, originally printed on silk and today printed on Tyvek, that contains a promise written in multiple languages. A 1951 version’s English text read:

Caroline Glick: A powder keg, courtesy of Washington

Israel’s ruling class refuses to see the effect the U.S. administration is having on the Middle East—from the Taliban in Afghanistan to Syria to surging Palestinian violence against Israelis.

By Caroline Glick, Israel Hayom via JNS

Since the Democrats took control of the White House and both houses of Congress 100 days ago, the Middle East has become a powder keg. But Israel’s ruling class sees nothing.

In Afghanistan and Iraq, violent attacks against U.S. forces are rising steeply. From January through April, attacks on U.S. forces increased 40 percent. President Joe Biden’s announcement that the United States will withdraw its forces from the country by Sept. 11, the 20th anniversary of the jihadist attacks on the United States, worsened the situation by communicating a message of profound American weakness and defeatism. The Taliban, Al-Qaeda and Iran clearly believe they are now free to humiliate and bleed the United States as they take control of the country.

Accessories to evil

The US and EU are conniving at murderous violence against Israeli Jews

By Melanie Phillips    May 9/21

Second Jewish Temple: model in Israel Museum, Jerusalem

Jerusalem tonight is very tense, with the planned Jewish celebrations of Jerusalem Day on Monday provoking fears of a further escalation of the recent violence that has been erupting in the city and which has rippled into attacks against southern Israel.

In the last few days, there have been violent Arab riots around Temple Mount, the Jerusalem religious site sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims; on Saturday night, a rocket was fired into southern Israel from Gaza, and two more were launched from there on Sunday; and incendiary balloons are once again also being fired from Gaza to attack Israeli civilians, their property and farmland, causing on Sunday some 39 fires, mainly in open areas.

Please take the trouble to support my work. I really could use it.

I am now paying out for technical assistance about $400/month. This is due in large part because of deplatforming and blacklisting of many of my subscribers.

The Jordan Option is still in the works and I have been called upon for financial support.

Running my blog may seem like a little matter but It requires a daily 10 hour effort and then some. I spend a great deal of time selecting the articles which are the most interesting, topical and important and keeping myself informed.
