Speaking to UN Security Council, Foreign Minister Lavrov suggests ministerial-level multinational summit in the spring or summer

UNITED NATIONS, United States — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday backed a Palestinian proposal for a Middle East peace conference, saying at the UN that it could be held at ministerial level in the spring or summer.

Recalling that Moscow had backed Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s idea for international talks in early 2021 when he first proposed it in September, Lavrov offered ideas about who could be invited.

Every now and then China comes up with a diplomatic proposal to resolve the conflicts of the Greater Middle East. In 2014, China made a five-point proposal to end the Gaza armed conflict raging that year and in 2012 Beijing produced a four-point proposal to end the Syrian civil war. As for the wide-ranging Israeli-Palestinian conflict specifically, the last Chinese proposal was in 2013.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says China will advance a five-point plan to realize “regional peace and stability in the Middle East.”

As part of the initiative, Wang backs a recent Saudi initiative to end its long-running war in Yemen. He also invites Israeli and Palestinian “notables” to meet for talks in Beijing.

Jordan Peterson became world-famous in 2016 because he stood up to Canada’s human rights law, which made it a crime to “misgender” someone. Since then, Canada has slid even further into gender totalitarianism. The latest example is a Canadian man who was sent to prison for refusing to adopt his teenage daughter’s new masculine pronouns.

The father and mother were not raising the child together, so it was only when his daughter was 13 that the father learned that the girl’s public school and his ex-wife had been working with the child to turn her into a boy. This included pushing the child to take hormones to mimic male sexual attributes such as facial hair and a deep voice.

T. Belman. Netanyahu will have no trouble forming a government even if Yamina brings him to only 59 seats.. He can either try to get a couple of people to defect to Likud or he can negotiate with New Hope or Ra’am or even Gantz.

Right-wing bloc led by Likud and joined by UTJ, Shas, Religious Zionist Party and Naftali Bennett’s Yamina, receives 59 with 87% of votes counted..

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would not be able to form a government for the seventh time in his three-decade political career, according to preliminary results from 89% of the regular polling stations reported by the Central Elections Committee.

Netanyahu’s bloc of Likud, Shas, United Torah Judaism and the Religious Party was found to have won 59 seats along with Yamina, two short of a majority.

Some 1,900 years ago, Jewish refugees fleeing the Romans made their way to the Judean Desert. Among the belongings they carried with them were scrolls featuring the biblical books of Zechariah and Nahum. Two millennia later, fragments of those texts have reemerged, the Antiquities Authority (IAA) announced Tuesday.

All three polls indicated that his bloc of Likud, Shas, United Torah Judaism and the Religious Zionist Party received enough support together with the Yamina Party of Naftali Bennett, who said during the campaign that he was ready to join a coalition with either political bloc.

I was fortunate enough to attend college in the 1970s, when it was still taken for granted that campuses were meant to be robust marketplaces of ideas and that the clash of opinions was essential to the search for truth. During my years at George Washington University, students could and did attend speeches by guest speakers from across the political spectrum – from liberal Democrats like Eugene McCarthy to conservative Republicans like Trent Lott, from hard-core leftists like Amiri Baraka to fierce anticommunists like Vladimir Bukovsky. Politically unpopular points of view were not silenced by ideological mobs. Left-wing protesters didn’t disrupt right-wing presentation – or vice versa. No one demanded that guest speakers be disinvited because their message was politically incorrect or apt to offend some of their listeners.

Jonathan Pollard, an American who served a 30-year sentence for spying for Israel, defended his actions in his first interview since arriving in Israel late last year. He said America had “stabbed Israel in the back” by withholding intelligence from its ally.

In excerpts from the interview with the Israel Hayom daily published Monday, Pollard described his happiness at being a free man in Israel while expressing regret that he was not able to father children because of his incarceration.

In the Golden Era of Sports (1920s) through the following decades, until sometime in the late 1960s or early 1970s, it was traditional for people to dress up whenever they stepped outside or went to an event. Pictures of hockey arenas and baseball stadiums show the ladies, of which there were far fewer than today, dressed in their finery and the men in suits and even dressy hats. The hats eventually went away and the suits… followed suit, replaced by more casual but still nice outfits. In recent years the nicer casual outfits have often been supplanted by ripped shorts, “message” tee shirts or sweatpants and sweatshirts, frequently far from fresh.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United States and the United Nations Gilad Erdan said the momentum of the Abraham Accords may soon begin to transfer into friendlier treatment toward Israel within the UN, an institution that has long displayed deeply-rooted anti-Israel sentiments.

“I believe that the effects of the Abraham Accords will soon be felt at this institution…that the new voices emerging from within the Arab world, accepting and embracing Israel will grow louder and turn into votes for truth and peace at the UN,” Erdan said at the UN Watch database launch Thursday, adding that “peace is spreading in the Middle East, and the anti-Israel consensus in the region is crumbling.”
