Iran’s Proxy War Against Israel

by Khaled Abu Toameh , GATESTONE INSTITUTE •  May 12, 2021 at 5:00 am

Were it not for Iran’s financial and military aid, the Palestinian terrorist groups would not have been able to attack Israel with thousands of rockets and missiles.

    • Last year, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei admitted for the first time that his country was supplying the Palestinian terrorist groups with weapons….”Iran realized Palestinian fighters’ only problem was lack of access to weapons” — Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Reuters, May 22, 2020.
    • The [earlier] denial exposes the extent of Iran’s scheme to deceive the international community not only regarding its supply of weapons to the Palestinian terrorist groups, but also concerning its plan to acquire a nuclear bomb and bolster its production of nuclear material.

The demand follows several weeks of Arab violence towards Jews, including lynchings, rock attacks, and mass riots.

Defense Minister Benny Gantz on Tuesday said Israel’s goal with its ongoing strikes in the Gaza Strip in response to rocket fire from the enclave is to severely weaken the Hamas terror group and restore calm to southern Israel.

Gantz said the operation, dubbed Guardian of the Walls, was likely to last at least several days as Israeli aircraft, ground forces and naval ships bombed assets and operatives of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Unreal On-the-Ground Video Shows What Israelis Are Experiencing as Iron Dome Systems Take On Hamas Missile Swarm

By Jared Harris , WESTERN JOURNALISM   May 11, 2021 at 10:00 pm

As Israel suffers under a continuous heavy rocket barrage, footage coming out of the Holy Land is giving the world a look at the horrors Hamas rains down on innocent civilians. Thankfully, the footage also shows the country’s Iron Dome systems coming to life, countering the terrifying missile swarms with precision-guided munitions.

The onslaught started Monday, with over 1000  rockets raining down on civilian areas.“The terrorist groups in Gaza crossed a red line on the eve of Jerusalem Day, a red line, and attacked us with rockets on the outskirts of Jerusalem,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said of the ongoing attacks.  Footage out of Israel shows the rockets falling from the sky before spots of light — missiles fired by Iron Dome systems — rush up to meet them. The massive rocket barrage – involving some 1000 rockets from Gaza in a 24-hour period, reaching the crescendo of hundreds of rockets fired around nine in the evening, blanketing central and southern Israel – may be linked to Iran’s warnings about a single, large operation.

Iran’s IRGC head Hossein Salami warned last week that Israel was vulnerable to one large tactical operation because the country is so small. He pointed to the S-200 fired from Syria near Dimona and other threats to Israel as an example of how vulnerable the country is.

The Pew Research Center today released a report of their survey, Jewish Americans in 2020. The new study of the size and character of US Jewry coincidentally appears just as Jews around the world prepare to celebrate Shabbat Bamidbar when we read the Book of Numbers’ description of the census of the Israelites in the desert. A scientific survey is not a census but does serve a similar function of providing a portrait of a community and highlighting its strengths and weaknesses.

Washington’s agenda is completely wrong – and incendiary

Jake Sullivan, President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, needs to get his facts right and his priorities straight.

By  Caroline B. Glick, ISRAEL HAYOM

Throughout the month of Ramadan, the Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority and Hamas have been inciting Arab Israelis in Jerusalem and throughout the country to attack Jews. And so it happened that at the outset of the month, Jews in Jerusalem, Jaffa and beyond found themselves beset by gangs of Arab thugs who beat them on the streets and light-rail cars just because they were Jews.

Last week, Hamas’ leaders announced their detailed plans to open a new campaign against Israel on May 9. May 9 was a conflation of three events: Jerusalem Day – Israel’s national holiday celebrating the unification of Jerusalem in 1967; Muslims marked the holiest day of the month of Ramadan, and Iran marked its own Jerusalem Day, whose purpose is to call for the destruction of Israel and end Jewish rule in Jerusalem.

Iran Building Precision-Guided Missiles for Hezbollah

What “resisting” Israel really means.

By Hugh Fitzgerald, FPM

Iran claims that its citizens are in Syria mainly to help with rebuilding the country’s infrastructure. Israel has good reason to think — and act — otherwise. Asked to comment on reports that Iran was building highly lethal weapons– precision-guided missiles — for Hezbollah, Iran feigned indignation. “Israel Intensifying Air War in Syria Against Iranian Encroachment,” Algemeiner, April 22, 2021:

Iran’s Foreign Ministry did not respond to requests for comment. Iran has said it has military advisers in Syria to help Assad’s forces, and will continue a policy “resisting” US and Israeli power in the wider Middle East.

Over 120 generals and admirals warn that administration policies are ‘national security threat’

By Carol Greenwald, AM THINKER

A day before the Senate markup of HR1 on May 11, 2021,( the Democrats’ power grab to federalize election laws in favor of progressive candidates), 124 retired admirals and generals issued an open letter to the American people warning that “Our nation is in deep peril. We are fighting for our survival as a Constitutional Republic like no other time since our founding in 1776.”

Biden Administration Supports Globalist Version of Multilateralism at the UN

By ——

U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken delivered virtual remarks on May 7th at the United Nations Security Council Open Debate on Multilateralism. The meeting was chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on behalf of China, which is this month’s president of the Security Council. Blinken spewed forth the same old same old Biden administration rhetoric about the critical importance of an international “rules-based order” and the administration’s commitment to multilateralism.

What you won’t read in western media about the Jerusalem riots

Ignore the lies. Here are some important facts

By Melanie Phillips      May 10/21

Israeli motorist rescued from attempted lynch, Arab riots, Jerusalem

As I write here in Jerusalem, sirens have sounded and explosions have been heard. It appears that rockets were fired by Hamas at the city. I am posting this now before finding out what is happening.

Further to my piece here yesterday about the Jerusalem riots, here’s some more information you won’t read in the venomously slanted media coverage which continues to obscure the Palestinian Arabs’ incitement and attacks that sparked these disturbances and which continues falsely to blame Israel instead for its behavior. In this twisted reporting, much of the British and American media continue to parrot the Palestinians’ narrative which, as always, seeks to obscure their own murderous and bigoted aggression by pretending that their Israeli victims are the aggressors while the Arabs are merely defending themselves.

East Jerusalem land ownership: Different rules for Jews, Arabs

T. Belman.  Why should the rules be the same. We won and they lost. Besides the Sheik Jarrod lands were taken from Jews in the first place and they are entitled to take it back.

Not mentioned in this analysis is that when Israel confiscated the land of absentee Arab owners, they placed money in trust in place of the land and equivalent to its value at that time.  Many absentee owners refused to accept the money. Now the money is a small fraction of the current value.

Just after the 1948-1949 War of Independence, the Absentee Assets Law was used to take over homes and lands that Arabs had left empty or abandoned during or following the fighting.

Wadi al-Joz in east Jerusalem

Although the bigger issues headlining the current dispute at Sheikh Jarrah and the Temple Mount are about nationalism and religion, the immediate impetus for the crisis comes out of the little understood Absentee Assets Law.

How did this law come about historically, what does it mean today and why does it seem to favor Jews over Arabs?
