Shameful interview of Dennis Ross

Rachel Lipsky on Statecraft by Jamie Glazov FrontPageMagazine.com

Dennis Ross quotes from Chautauqua Institution; August 21, 2004 right before the Gaza disengagement;

    Israeli pullout from Gaza could bring about peace.

    “Ariel Sharon’s decision to get out of Gaza was the spur for the reform movement. “Ninety percent of Palestinians today want reform. The reformers are now trying to create a whole new process. The Israelis getting out of Gaza is an opportunity for Palestinians.”

    “They can show the world they can govern themselves, and are ready for statehood. The reformers are insisting on a rule of law, transparency and accountability and new elections.”

Some of Dennis Ross statements he made in the interview with Front Page Magazine. September 10, 2007(See below)

His assumptions regarding the prospects for peace with the Palestinians after the pull out from Gaza, are the perfect antithesis to his definitions of statecraft; he argues that bad statecraft is “mismatch between objectives and means”, he warns not to be engaged in “’¼ wishful thinking,” he states that statecraft should be “reality based and not assessments to shape objectives, understanding reality before you can change it”.

Bad statecraft is always characterized by a mismatch between objectives and means.

The administration was governed by wishful thinking

Good statecraft requires reality-based, not faith-based assessments to shape objectives.

Interestingly, reality based assessments “require understanding reality before you can hope to change it.”

When there is a mismatch between objectives and means, there is an inevitable price to be paid in terms of our credibility.

Indeed, when there was an opportunity with Arafat’s passing, Abbas’ election on a platform of non-violence (unprecedented in the history of the Palestinian movement), and Sharon made the decision to disengage from Gaza and take on the settler constituency in 2005, the Bush administration was passive and only hesitantly involved. Timing is to statecraft what location is to real estate

When the administration should have acted it didn’t;

Statecraft involves recognizing our leverage and the vulnerabilities of those whose behavior we seek to change.

got the picture???

Remarks made by Ruth King;

DENNIS ROSS IS A COURT JEW WHO BETRAYED ISRAEL AS JAMES BAKER’S ENFORCER; AS MADELEINE ALBRIGHT’S LAP DOG BARKING AT ISRAEL AND MASSAGING HIS OLD BUDDY YASSER; ESCORTING TANZIM TERRORISTS TO CONGRESS USING HIS LEVERAGE TO SWAY LEGISLATORS ON BEHALF OF ISRAEL’S SWORN ENEMIES. JAMIE GLAZOV SHOULD HAVE CHALLENGED THE PIG BY ASKING POINT BLANK:

    MR. ROSS: HOW IS IT THAT EVERY SINGLE POLICY WHICH YOU CRAFTED WAS BASED ON ISRAELI CONCESSIONS AND APPEASEMENT? HOW IS IT THAT YOU HAVE THE EFFRONTERY TO CLAIM THAT ABBAS IS ” NON VIOLENT” WHEN HE IS JUST A CLONE OF YOUR FORMER PAL YASSER? HOW IS IT THAT YOU KNOW AND SAY AND PREDICT NOTHING ABOUT ISLAM AND JIHAD?

  1. How is it possible that a man like Dennis Ross with his record of failure (and the incalculable damage caused in the process) can continue to enjoy a “reputation” of Middle East expert in demand by the media?
    Because he has no shame, and the media would make – Let me put it as delicately as possible – an honest “sex-trade worker” blush.
