  1. Great video. I learned a lot, But, I disagree with his final conclusion. Getting rid of money in politics will no more prevent this from happening again than banning guns will stop gun violence. Trump didn’t have to spend as much but he did raise as much through small contributions . The first one to do this was Howard Dean who raised more than his corporate backed rivals but still lost.
Ross Perot outspent everybody with his own money and was on the air constantly. He still lost.
We The American People are not dummies. There has to be enough advertising of a message for us to notice it, but it doesn’t necessarily follow that we will be convinced.
As with guns, the money that the Clinton machine had to buy dirty tricks with was mostly illegally acquired.
In the spirit of Hamilton’s reasoning against voting as a unitary state that he puts forward concerning the proposed Electoral College in Federalist 68, I believe that it would be easier to corrupt a unitary state-sponsored financial system, though I don’t have any specific ideas as to how. I’d be curious to see if anybody can come up with some hypothetical scenarios.
    Competition is better.
Or as I used to see on tee shirts in the East Village in the ‘70s, “Freedom of the Press only exists for those who own one.”*

*Was attributed to Benjamin Franklin though the origin appears to be more recent.
