Last week, I joined the Shoulder to Shoulder podcast with Doug Reed and Pesach Wolicki to discuss the ideas and beliefs at the heart of the Left.

Daniel makes many good points, and his overview of what the contemporary American left is all about, with its emphasis on “identity politics,” is on target. However, he is abit glib and sometimes oversimplifies things, especially when discussing past history.It is not true, for example, that all of the American Founding Fathers were united against the :Ledt.” Actually, thomas Jefferson and his Democratic Republican party were the left. It was only the more conservative Federalist party, led by Alexander Hamilton and John Adams, that opposed the left and Jefferson’s left-leaning ideas.
