The impossible deal: Establishing a peaceful Palestinian Arab state

The answer to Kerry’s peace proposal.

By Morton A. Klein, ZOA President

It was exhilarating to watch President Trump, at his press conference with PM Netanyahu, refuse to parrot the tired, irrational, dangerous mantra that a Palestinian Arab state is the only option for peace.  Instead, President Trump wisely spoke about real peace; creative solutions; ending the Palestinian-Arabs teaching of “tremendous hate” to their children in their schools; and the essential requirement that the Palestinian-Arabs must recognize the Jewish State.

The truth is, irreconcilable, diametrically opposed differences between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) have long made it clear that the creation of a Palestinian-Arab state is an impossibility.

For example, the PA demands at least all of eastern Jerusalem – while Israel requires all of Jerusalem remain united under Israeli sovereignty. The world needs to understand that Jerusalem is not even holy to Muslims. The word Jerusalem is never mentioned in Islam’s holy book, the Koran, while being mentioned 700  times in the Jewish holy books. No Arab leader, except Jordan’s King Hussein, ever visited Jerusalem when Arabs controlled it from 1948-67. Jerusalem has never been the Capital of any country except Israel.

The PA demands that every Jew must be ejected from their future State, meaning the 800,000 Jews in eastern Jerusalem/Judea/Samaria.  That will never happen.

The PA also insists that millions of descendants of so-called Palestinian “refugees,” created by the 1948 Arab War to destroy Israel, be allowed to move to Israel (Even though there are only 40,000 actual refugees from 1948 living today). Every Israeli government, from left to right, unequivocally rejects this, because it means overwhelming Israel with a hostile population and ending Israel as a Jewish state.

The PA also demands a “contiguous” state that connects Gaza to Judea/Samaria, thereby cutting Israel into two separate pieces.  Israel obviously cannot agree to this demand either, if Israel wishes to remain in existence.

The PA refuses to agree to Israel’s basic demand for recognition as the Jewish State.

And to top off all this, the PA refuses to sign a peace deal that “ends all claims” against Israel.  Israel understandably cannot agree to a deal that permits new or continued anti-Israel claims.

Another irreconcilable PA demand is that Israel must free all Palestinian-Arab terrorists in Israeli jails. Of course Israel won’t release thousands of unrepentant convicted murderers and attempted murderers.

Also with respect to security, Israel, at a minimum, must maintain control over the major Jewish communities in Judea/Samaria, and, as Netanyahu said during Wednesday’s joint press conference, Israel needs “overriding security control over the entire area west of the Jordan River” because “otherwise we’ll get another radical Islamic terrorist state in the Palestinian areas exploding the peace, exploding the Middle East.”  Israel also requires that it continue the legal Gaza weapons blockade. But, the PA says it will never accept these security demands.

Similarly, as Prime Minister Netanyahu explained back in 2009 during his speech at Bar Ilan University, any Palestinian-Arab state needs to be “demilitarized” – meaning that it cannot have an army, control its airspace, forge military pacts with the likes of Hezbollah and Iran, and import weapons, and must be subject to strong measures to prevent weapons smuggling. The PA opposes all of these Israeli security requirements.

Still another irreconcilable issue is that because a Palestinian State deal asks Israel to give up irreversible tangibles (i.e., land) for intangible peace promises, Israel needs partners that keep their promises.  But, the PA broke its repeated Oslo and other agreements to combat and stop inciting terror, collect illegal weapons, outlaw terrorist groups, and preserve and provide Jews access to Jewish holy sites in PA territory.

Finally, the PA’s unrelenting goal is to destroy and replace all of Israel with a Palestinian-Arab state that no Jews can step foot in.  This goal is clearly laid out in the PA ruling party Fatah Charter and in PA President Abbas’ speeches condemning the Israeli “occupation” since 1948 – and in the PA maps, stationery, official emblems, stamps, media and atlases showing all of Israel as Palestine.  The PA leadership assures its people that any concessions it obtains are “stages” towards their final goal of destroying the Jewish State.  Additionally, the PA is politically aligned with Hamas whose Charter calls for Israel’s destruction and the murder of every Jew!

Israel cannot agree to commit suicide – or give the PA a stronger base for advancing the Palestinian-Arab “struggle” for Israel’s total annihilation.

  1. Liberals suffer from poor reading comprehension. Just like the statute giving the President unlimited authority over immigration that the liberal courts didn’t seem to understand, Here”s article 3 of the ten point 1974 PLO phased plan which serves as the Constitution or Basic Law of the Palestinian Authority. They have never deviated from it even once, including so-called “moderates.” They haven’t been “recalcitrant.” They’ve been consistently faithful to their Constitution which is intrinsically evil and inimical to our survival, as are they. Here it is in black and white:

“3. The PLO will struggle against any plan for the establishment of a Palestinian entity the price of which is recognition, conciliation, secure borders, renunciation of the national right, and our people’s deprivation of their right to return and the right to determine their fate on the national soil.”

  2. Mr Klein is absolutely correct. Any talk about a Palestinian state is a
foolish premise marred in insanity. This is a sick ploy to end the
existence of Israel in stages since they know that they cannot beat
Israel in one instance. Israel has become powerful,
organized, Israeli society is smart, hard working, progress has been
the cornerstone of this incredibly efficient Nation. Pals on the other
hand teach their children hate which fryes their brains into zombies.
The Pals don’t have a Plan and they never will.
Europe is in decadence and going straight to hell unless they wake-up
one day and reverse this awful situation. They better do it fast.

  3. It is the Arab Conflict, not Israel. The Arabs want what Israel has; which they built with blood sweat and tears; well they cannot have it.
Israel is on its own historical territory, that with hard work and toil have turned the desert into green pastures with a first class technology and innovation that is helping all the people and nations in the world. The Arabs have over 12 million sq. km. of which 70% is vacant with a wealth of oil reserves.

Israel is a sovereign country which also serves as a land based Super-Large Aircraft carrier for the U.S. (with no risk to U.S. personnel) with much more amenities and a sophisticated intelligence apparatus. Israel is one of the worlds leading countries in sophisticated and innovative weapons technology and development of which the U.S. benefits greatly.

Mahmmoud Abbas and his Arab Palestinian authority are a terrorist entity and anyone who condones them is supporting terror and violence. Mahmmoud Abbas is a convicted murderer who is an escaped convict and belongs in Jail. Stop patronizing Abbas and start applying what he deserves, to be put in jail. He gladly admitted for sponsoring the Munich massacre and other terror acts. Abbas is playing the peace game as long as he can milk the nations of the world for billions of dollars and running a dictatorial terrorist entity.
The Arab PA is no different than Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

There never was and will never be a second Arab-Palestinian State West of the Jordan River; they have Jordan which is Jewish territory. Anyone who thinks about putting another terrorist entity in Judea and Samaria aka West Bank, needs to have his head examined, and any government considering such a proposal must be replaced. Such a move is suicidal to Israel in view of the results from Gaza with thousands of rockets attacking Israel. Judea and Samaria is Jewish territory no concession. Israel does not need the consent of anybody to apply its sovereignty to Judea and Samaria. Israel must expedite in building housing, industry and roads in Judea and Samaria. No country has the right to interfere and or dictate to Israel how to conduct its internal affairs and or its safety and security.
