  1. Laura and Michael, I agree that things look bad at this moment, Trump is hard to figure. I will be surprised if he turns on Israel. It’s more like he’s playing the good cop, bad cop routine all by himself. Iran can do nothing unless Hashem wants it done. Trump was put back in office because he has a job to finish after his second term was stolen from him. I do not know what his job is exactly, but I suspect it will be Good for the world and Good for Israel – if not the only other option is there is gonna be HELL to pay.

    Alan Dershowitz has been repeatedly stating on his podcast that if, like Obama, Trump doesn’t follow through on his threats, he will lose his most precious asset, his credibility, and be unable to make deals.

    I think it’s more specific. Trump is turning against Israel; and after only a few days of this, he is in a constitutional crisis in the US (identical to Bibi’s struggle with the High Court — those two presidents seem destined to sink or swim together).

  3. Cut the crap. There is no peace to be had with the islamo-nazis in Tehran who vow to wipe Israel off the map. They will never peacefully dismantle their nuclear program. Just stop it already. When did conservatives become hippy peaceniks? Conservatives used to be the adults in the room, the realists who saw the world for what it was, not childish idealists with wishful thinking. Even worse, many “conservatives” these days sound like Code Pink. You know when things were the most peaceful? The post WW2 years after we decidedly defeated the nazis and Japan. In the 90’s after the fall of the USSR brought forth by Reagan projecting strength abroad which at the time was condemned by the left and conservatives at the time defended. I think today’s conservatives would not approve of Reagan. They would be calling him a warmonger.

    I think Trump is sincere when he says he wants to save a lot of lives. War is easy— talking it out and finding a peaceful path is hard. It takes time to grapple with a new way– peace, not war. The day of Gog Magog might well come – but think if mankind makes a different choice, we get to a peaceful world without all the death and destruction.

      He was a warmonger, or so he wanted all to think of him as such (recall “3, 2,1, launch missiles”), which is why the Soviets were so frightened of him. Peace thru strength only works if others credibly believe you are going to use the stick.

      The distinction, however, is that Reagan was not a military adveturer, unlike Bush and Clinton. These distinctions are both relevant and material.

  6. I’m not inclined to believe that Trump is up to this level of foolishness, unlike Auntie Merkel who said “Europe Could Be Destroyed Without More Open-Borders”.

    The question is, what would he do if Israel just went ahead, as they’ve been doing since 10/7? I agree with the readers below; just do it and do it now!!!

    • Trump isn’t going to save lives, he’s putting Israel in existential danger. The nukes have to be taken out militarily. If Trump is too chicken to do it, then at least stay out of Israel’s way and let them take care of business.

    “I don’t trust anybody.”

    “We can blow up their labs with people not in them or people in them. We can save a lot of lives.”

    To me Trump is giving Iran has two choices. They lose nukes the peaceful way or they get them blown up and a lot people get killed.
