Trump’s Gaza Deal is Horrible – And Why Netanyahu Agreed to it

Peloni:  Avi provides an important, and dare I say accurate, analysis of the Trump 20 Point plan.  It is danger0us, damaging and worrisome.

  1. Netanyahu has a history of always giving in to American pressure. This is a mistake. Israel needs to stand up to American pressure to submit to demands that are not in her interest. Menachem Begin said “no” to American demands when they endangered Israel. So did Ben-Gurion. The Israeli-American alliance survived these refusals to submit to unreasonable demands, In fact, it was strengthened.

  2. He forgot to mention the most important reason: He can’t afford to piss Trump off.
Avi isn’t wrong. Of course I agree with his premise. If it was up to me, I would have flattened Gaza on Oct 8, every sq inch of it.
But I like General Avivi’s analysis. I’ll summarize it as follows:

I’m feeling much better these days about the situation in Israel.

Just a couple weeks ago things looked dire. Almost the entire western world was against Israel and were talking about rewarding terrorists with another Islamic state.

Now thanks to Bibi and Trump, the situation has hopefully changed dramatically. This deal is a win win for Israel. It puts the onus on Hamas to either give up the hostages immediately (all of them) and leave Gaza never to return or be killed by the IDF within a matter of weeks. If Hamas doesn’t meet Trump’s deadline, Israel will conquer every square inch of Gaza. The point being, that if Israel can meet its objectives with a ‘deal’ then why should it be forced to lose more precious soldiers blowing up Gaza.

It’s also frames the deal much larger with players all over the world (it’s more than just freeing hostages and dealing with Hamas). Those 2 guys always think out of the box and I love them for it. Israel could become a leading energy producer that would bring in India, China, Europe, etc….
