The UK (Starmer), France (Macron) and EU Commission (von der Leyden) are focused on ways to continue warfighting operations in Ukraine. Any cessation of hostilities runs counter to their collective financial and geopolitical interests.

The European NATO coalition continues to demand blood to oil the machinery of war and opposing any peace efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump is now paramount. Unfortunately for Starmer and Macron, Ursula von der Leyden cannot guarantee or secure the long-term financing they need to replace funds from the USA stopped by President Trump.

If the pattern holds, there is likely to be a U.K/France supported Ukrainian drone or missile attack into Russia on Tuesday morning GMT. The U.S delegation of Secretary Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and President Trump’s emissary Steve Witkoff will all be in attendance.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered the following remarks:

“Today, a highly productive meeting took place in Kyiv between the diplomatic teams of Ukraine and the UK.

We discussed our joint steps that could bring us closer to peace and accelerate diplomatic efforts. I’m grateful for the support. Ukraine is determined to do everything to end this war with a just and lasting peace as soon as possible.

Next week, I will begin with a visit to Saudi Arabia. After my meeting on Monday with the Crown Prince, Ukrainian diplomatic and military representatives will stay for a meeting on Tuesday with the American team. The Ukrainian team will include Andriy Yermak, Andriy Sybiha, Rustem Umerov, and Pavlo Palisa.

On our side, we are fully committed to constructive dialogue, and we hope to discuss and agree on the necessary decisions and steps.

Ukraine has been seeking peace from the very first second of this war. Realistic proposals are on the table. The key is to move quickly and effectively.” ~ Zelensky, EU Representative for War

There is some indication President Trump has moved beyond the ‘minerals deal’ distraction talking point and remains entirely focused on getting Ukraine and the EU to commit to peace.  However, Ukraine needs to push the minerals deal as part of their “security guarantee” proposal that is intended to put U.S. troops in their fight.

The people who truly want peace are not afraid of concessions to guarantee it.  The people who want war reject concessions and want the security guarantees, so they have a tool to deconstruct peace.

WASHINGTON, March 9 (Reuters) – U.S. officials are planning to use Tuesday’s meeting with a Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia in part to determine whether Ukraine is willing to make material concessions to Russia to end the war, according to two U.S. officials.
The U.S. delegation will also be watching for signs that the Ukrainians are serious about improving ties with the Trump administration after a meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy devolved into an argument last month, said one of the officials, who requested anonymity to preview the closed-door talks.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will fly to Jeddah on Sunday for the bilateral talks with Ukrainian officials, who will be led by Andriy Yermak, a top Zelenskiy aide. Rubio is expected to be joined by National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff.

“You can’t say ‘I want peace,’ and, ‘I refuse to compromise on anything,’” one of the U.S. officials said of the upcoming talks.

“We want to see if the Ukrainians are interested not just in peace, but in a realistic peace,” said the other official. “If they are only interested in 2014 or 2022 borders, that tells you something.” (read more)

Remarkably, Secretary of State Marco Rubio continues to shine in his role as chief diplomat for President Trump.

  1. Zelensky looks to be putting himself in a worse position with Trump. That’s fine with me. No more money, no more military aid. $200 billion in a proxy war with Russia. Insanity on steroids…how many pockets in the USA were filled.

  2. @Adam

Ukraine have said they would accept an armistice and or cease-fire agreement to end the fighting, followed by a permanent peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine. However, Ukraine has demanded permanent “security guarantees”, something like a mutual defense pact with the NATO and EU countries as a condition for peace, in addition to Russia’s ending its military operations against Ukraine.

These two statements are completely contradictory, even as they are accurately reported by you. In fact, there will be no defensive pact between Ukraine and NATO, period, and if there were such a pact, there would be no end to the war – which is of course the Ukrainian position.

If there is any doubt as to this being Trump’s position on this point, you are deceiving yourself.

  3. I still have difficulty believing anything that “Sundance” writes because I know nothing about him.On his web site he reveals nothing about his past employment and work history, any organizations to which he belongs, the identity of any of his past employers, etc. He also does not post any pictures of himself, or any videos in which he speaks to his readers, on his site. All of the podcaster whom I trust post at least some of this information on their sites. Many of them post videos of themselves interviewing or being interviewed by one of their guests. Some also post videos of panel dicussions in which they participated, as well as videos in which they appear alone, but also directly addressing their audience, similar to someone delivering a speech or lecture in a meeting hall or other public space. “Sundance” never does any of these things. So there is no reason why anyone who does not know him personally, and is familiar with his personal history and background, should believe anything he says. I never have believed that “Mr. Anonymous” is a credible source about anything.

  4. From the Ukraine alternative universe: The Ukraine has been launching drone and somewhat less often missile attacks on Russian targets every day for at least the past several months. So If they launch another such attack on Tuesday, it will be nothing out of the ordinary.

I haven’t read anywhere from any EU-based site, not even that the EU has appointed Volodymir Zelensky as its “spokesman.” Not even pro-Russian Europe-based stations have claim this. He is a spokesman for Ukraine and only Ukraine.

What are these “collective financial and geopolitical interests” that make the EU countries and Ukraine fail to “commit to peace?.” Both the Ukraine and the EU nations have publicly committed themselves to seek peace between Ukraine and Russia. All of them as well as Ukraine have said they would accept an armistice and or cease-fire agreement to end the fighting, followed by a permanent peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine. However, Ukraine has demanded permanent “security guarantees”, something like a mutual defense pact with the NATO and EU countries as a condition for peace, in addition to Russia’s ending its military operations against Ukraine.

I believe that the reason the EU countries want to continue some economic and military aid to Ukraine is that they are afraid Russia would follow up a military victory in Ukraine with invasions or other attacks on other European countries. Their fear is ground in a series of speeches and newspaper articles by Vladimir Putin in which he outlined his intention to restore Russia’s “sphere of influence” in eastern and central Europe from what it was during the Soviets long-term military occupation of the Warsaw Pact countries. Germany was also upset by Putin’s plan, announced in his speeches and book, to compel Germany to quit NATO and become a neutral, nonaligned country. I believe the main reason that the EU and NATO countries have given military and economic aid to Ukraine is neither that they want war with Russia or that they have economic interests in Ukraine, but their fear of future Russian expansionism into eastern and central Europe.

  5. The EU (and Canada) are run by Dooshes. The UK has Neville Champberpot 2.0. Macon is an Edapussy, screwing his mommy while his country is overrun by the Ottoman Empire 2.0.

Such a sad state of states. When will people realise Socialism does not work.
