What do you say to someone who just tried to murder you?

By Vic Rosenthal

I felt sorry and sad when I saw the 16-year old Arab girl lying in the road after she was shot. She was someone’s daughter and she could have had a life. She stabbed a soldier getting off a bus at Mevo Dotan in Samaria and tried to stab another.

After she was shot, the soldiers called for medical assistance. Before it arrived, one or two of the soldiers or civilians present cursed her, told her to die and called her a particularly offensive name in Arabic (video here). She received first aid, and was evacuated to a hospital where she later died.

Gideon Levy thinks this incident illustrates our depravity:

There wasn’t even one soldier there with a shred of compassion or humanity. One has to recognize the magnitude of hatred felt by soldiers of the occupying army towards the nation they lord over. One has to see the extent to which they’ve lost their humanity. How can anyone be joyful over a dying schoolgirl? Cursing someone suffering like that is no less evil than shooting her.

The article claims that she was left to bleed to death and not offered medical attention, which is false. The video is less than a minute long. It did not show her being treated at the scene and placed in the ambulance.

But the most important way in which Levy distorts the truth is this. He wrote:

One has to recognize the magnitude of hatred felt by soldiers of the occupying army towards the nation they lord over.

It has nothing to do with “occupying” and the soldiers don’t see themselves as “lord[ing]” over another “nation.” All of that is ideology projected on the inside of Levy’s eyelids.

What the soldiers feel (ask any soldier) is that here is another one of the countless Arabs with knives, or meat cleavers or automobiles, who have taken the lives of 49 and injured 737 in the last two years, in 386 separate attacks. Or perhaps they have longer memories and are thinking of the 1,323 who have been murdered by bombs, guns, knives and vehicles, since we tried to give away Judea, Samaria and Gaza in 2000. And this one has just spilled the blood of one of your friends in an attempt to kill him.

Maybe she thought she wanted to die or maybe – who knows what she thought? But she took a knife and stuck it into a soldier, and changed from a schoolgirl into a terrorist. She changed herself from someone’s daughter who could have had a life into an instrument of death, no less a terrorist than those that butchered four rabbis and a policeman at a Jerusalem synagogue one Tuesday morning, or the ones who murdered five members of the Fogel family (2 adults and 3 children, including Hadas aged 3 months). She was just less competent.

She made an existential decision when she cut into that soldier’s flesh, and there is a price for that action, a price that everyone knows.

The Arabs are responsible for this conflict, and they have been responsible for the countless times they murdered Jews long before the founding of the state, for the wars they started and lost, for the thousands of Jews (and sometimes Arabs) murdered by terrorism, and now for the cynical and astonishingly evil practice of indoctrinating and inciting their children to kill.

This is where the real depravity lies, not with the soldiers who must protect themselves, but with those that orchestrate the Palestinian educational system, praise “martyrdom” for their cause to impressionable young people, provide hero’s welcomes (and funerals) for terrorists, name squares, soccer fields and schools after them, and then send children out to kill.

Yes, she should not have been cursed while lying critically wounded, but what do you say to someone who just tried to murder you? Yes, it is a shame that a young person who could have grown up to have children and grandchildren of her own will now only be a memory. But even a 16-year old can make very permanent choices, and with the help of the society that molded her, she made hers.

Maybe the Palestinian Authority will name a school after her.

  1. You don’t say anything.
You KILL them (Man, woman, teenager, child or whatever).
The world must learn that anyone who tries to spill the blood of a Jew will die (hopefully, painfully).

It was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt via video that this Arab terrorist stabbed 1 Jew and tried to stab another.
Yet, Gideon Levy chose to blame his own people, which is why the Arabs believe they can continue to do so.

Further, I don’t recall Gideon Levy levy lamenting the death of the Fogul family children murdered in their sleep nor any of the countless other innocent Jews killed by Arab terrorists.

    Gideon Levy is the KAHBA.

  2. Maybe she would not have grown up to have a family. I’ve read that sometimes the young people and women especially are sent out to commit terror because it is a way to die with honor. Otherwise, they would have to be killed in an honor killing.

  3. Our upbringing and many millennium old genetic settings do not allow us to wantonly commit murder.
That is not the case with adherents to Islam. As the Islamic roots spread into their inner works, they seek to harm other people known to them as “infidels”.
I would not have rejoiced on her dying but no feeling of guilt should be on us.

  4. @ Pancake rachel corrie:

I agree, but I don’t think they care about their own like we do. If they did, they would not send them to their death.

Although, in my opinion, many times Israel has demonstrated a lack of resolve in combating and punishing this kind of terror, which may be why they send their children to what should be, but isn’t, certain death.

However, as with this case, it should be made clear that any person (man, woman, teenager, child) who attempts to spill Jewish blood will be killed.

As for the KAPO Gideon Levy, I don’t recall him lamenting the murder of the Fogul Family children in their sleep by Arab terrorists nor the many other similar murders of Jews.

    He is the KAHBA.

  5. one or two of the soldiers or civilians present cursed her, told her to die and called her a particularly offensive name

    :
    Attaboy(s)!

  6. :
I would not have left the damsel alone to die on the street.

I would have enlisted the aid of a fellow gawker in order to rip her apart, limb from limb.

But friends say I’m a softy (and a coward).

  7. The soldiers don’t hate but the leftist do hate. Soldiers feel contempt for the Murderer. Leftists feel shame and guilt.

Robin Rosenblatt, M.Sc. Animal Science, former Israeli Soldier and past Anti Terrorist Agent

  8. Let’s start a hotline for prospective honor killing victims and save her mother and brother the trouble of an unruly girl.
Time to turn the tables on them. Lure them away, capture them and hypnotize them (use an Obama look-a-like to perform the brainwashing) and that rather than kill Jews have her boomerang back on the whole village with a knapsack filled with C4. She will then detonate her real enemies back in the family mansion.

  9. There is so much anger today because everyone or at least almost everyone in Israel knows someone or the family of someone that has been murdered by terrorist Arabs. Some which were so horrific that I personally try not to remember but the pictures don’t go away nor the pain felt. We know the Arabs hate us and most of us know they aren’t so interested in the land, but to kill us and rid the area of Israel. Those that deal with this type of thing everyday have to express themselves someway. There may have been better ways but this is how they were feeling while dealing with many feelings & most likely memories.

  10. My sentiments as well…unfortunately. If Muslims hadn’t been trying to slaughter us since the dawn of time I might not feel this way. And I hate them for making me fell this way!
Lucky Gideon Levy! How very nice for him!He can still feel morally superior to the rest of us, but only because he cannot muster a shred of moral indignation or righteous anger over the deaths of his own people.
This girl made her choice and now she has to live with it or die by it. She could have chosen differently. If she was pressured to do this due to some perceived dishonor, she could have approached any Israeli soldier and asked for help. Israel would have given her sanctuary. She chose to kill instead.
Anyone who does this deserves to die and deserves to be cursed. Let’s all stop being so concerned with the hurt feelings of those seeking our destruction.
And let’s all begin to question the faux indignation of Gideon Levy. Gidi sweetie, time to pick a side and stand there!

  11. The sad reality is that there are so many Gideon Levy’s promoting the Palestinian cause to our anti-Semitic “friends” out there.

  12. War is war, and the Arab educational program, both in YESHA and Gaza, promotes its continuance til total liberation of all Israel and defeat of the Jews within it! Levy, who thinks Tel Aviv is not occupied territory, needs to open his eyes to recognize the Arabs’ goal that they have declared many times. As for the female terrorist, no pity is warrant. Mr. Rosenthal said it well, “She made an existential decision when she cut into that soldier’s flesh, and there is a price for that action, a price that everyone knows.”

  13. @ Noah:
    xx
YOu mention Gideon Levy’s “own people”….He likely HAS people somewhere but they are not Israelis and not Zionists, they are “globalist Liberals’ and by definition, virulently Jew-hating.

He should be given a degree in the “Hebrew” University, for obfuscation, and turning real news into real lies. Perhaps he already has a degree from Moscow University, or the Ali Baba mosque in Riyadh.

  14. Gidon Levi is either anti-Israel and pro-Arab or has simply not yet understood that the main goal of the Palestinians is to kill all Israelis and take over the country. Maybe it’s not the most courteous thing to curse a wounded and dying Arab but given the number of times our soldiers have had to witness the deaths of their people, one could easily forgive them for their bad manners.

  15. @ SHmuel HaLevi:
    xx
Don’t pompously pontificate, and don’t try to “teach your grandmother to suck eggs”….. We all KNOW that our traditions and teachings don’t recommend “Wanton Killing”…. and only a fool-which you are not- would suggest that it does.

But it does not even remotely apply in this case. “If someone comes to kill you, kill him/her, first”… There are no insdtructions as to what should be said to the dying killer, certainly not the Kaddish.

And for the perpetual mass-and-never-ending destruction that Mamzerim Arabim are brought up to do to us, I would crush them like walking on an ant…if I had the power, wanton or not. And so should we all, in our ONE CHANCE ONLY millenia-long battle for not only OUR susvival but the survival of the Torah.

Have you considered what we are going to need to do when Europe becomes completely Muslim……. Only one thing, and that is to assemble our nuclear weapons.

  16. I would have said to her:

“You dedicated your life to death, and death, nothing but death, is what you got.”

“And no, there never will be a Palestine state on the territory of the Jewish nation.”

    Arnold Harris, Outspeaker

  17. >>>>>>After she was shot, the soldiers called for medical assistance. Before it arrived, one or two of the soldiers or civilians present cursed her, told her to die and called her a particularly offensive name in Arabic (video here). She received first aid, and was evacuated to a hospital where she later died.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

All this sounds good to me

  18. Didn’t anyone read about the murderer receiving first aid when the ambulance arrived,
    before the wounded soldier/s did?

As for Gideon the Kapo, what else can be expected of him?

  19. To be honest, I personally am a bit uncomfortable adding anything to the insensitive and crude comments voiced above.

I raised six children in Israel, the four boys all served in the IDF in combat units, two as officers. At no point have I or my wife, our children’s teachers in the various schools they attended, the counselors of the Youth Movement they attended nor anyone in a position of influence while they served in the IDF – no one neither taught our children to hate nor condoned expressions of hatred for the misguided and manipulated people who seek to kill us. To do so would not only be in contravention of everything they learned about Jewish values (baseless hatred) but would make us no different than our advesaries.

If I’m not mistaken it was Golda Mair that once said “we can forgive the Arabs for trying to kill us but we can’t forgive them for putting us in a situation where we have to kill them [in self defense]”

  20. Let’s recall another quote from Golda Meir,

“On peace, she said in 1957, before the National Press Club in Washington: Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.”

As for the soldiers’ reactions, this must be taken in context. Emotions are an expression of the heart and part of our humanity. In times of war, we cannot ignore this form of demonstration. Our brave IDF soldiers are not robots! T

  21. the OPTICS here in the West of seeing a dying child is not good.
Goyim don’t understand that you can’t just go over and hold the child’s hand and comfort her, even just to give appearance for the photographer, because she’s an Arab in their culture it is highly inappropriate for a male to hold the hand of female, even that of a dying child, it would result in a ‘pollution’ of the corpse or seen as worse, a sexual advance on the dying child. You can’t win in this situation. It would be better that the IDF be instructed to encircle an attacker and prevent photography entirely.

  22. @ Yaakov:
Nobody actually believes in the Torah except for a phrase or a passage here and there. Nobody ever reads Psalm 137 past line 6. None of the songs that set it to music, none of the sermons or parshas ever go beyond line 6.

    “Psalm 137
1 By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept
    when we remembered Zion.
    2 There on the poplars
    we hung our harps,
3 for there our captors asked us for songs,
    our tormentors demanded songs of joy;
they said, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”
4 How can we sing the songs of the Lord
    while in a foreign land?
5 If I forget you, Jerusalem,
may my right hand forget its skill.
6 May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
if I do not remember you,
if I do not consider Jerusalem
    my highest joy.
7 Remember, Lord, what the Edomites did
    on the day Jerusalem fell.
    “Tear it down,” they cried,
“tear it down to its foundations!”
8 Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction,
happy is the one who repays you
according to what you have done to us.
9 Happy is the one who seizes your infants
and dashes them against the rocks.”

  23. London police leave 16 year old Jewish girl bleeding for hours
Police take two hours to respond to call after teenage girl beaten by anti-Semitic thugs for being Jewish in London.

A 16-year-old Jewish girl who was wounded in a violent anti-Semitic assault in London was left bleeding for two hours after the Metropolitan Police Service failed to send any officers to the scene of the crime, the British Campaign Against Anti-Semitism reported.

Alexander Goldberg, a police Chaplain and the father of the victim, posted the details of the incident on Facebook on Sunday. The attack occurred on May 27.

“Last Shabbat (10 days ago) my 16 year old daughter was racially and religiously abused and physically attacked in public by young men. A group of five young men were playing basketball and my daughter was in the park with two girls (all three of them are religious Jews and wear skirts on Shabbat so were identifiable),” Goldberg wrote.

He described how the young men began staring at the girls, and how when his daughter asked why they were staring two of them began shouting obscenities and anti-Semitic chants at her.

Goldberg wrote that “One of them, from an ethnic minority background himself said ‘Hitler should have killed all you Jews when he had the chance… You should have all been gassed.””

When she protested against their anti-Semitism one of the boys then threw their basketball into the girl’s face, causing her to bleed. He then proceeded to kick her while another of the boys punched her.

The girl’s friends pulled her away from her attackers. They found a former Royal Mail employee who called the police for them. However, the police did not send officers to the scene for two hours.

Goldberg said that he was “proud of my daughter. Proud of her for standing up to sexism, racism and religious abuse. Proud of her for continuing to fight for the rights of others despite a vicious assault on her…”

Less proud of the police service that I have worked with for over two decades in failing to respond to three girls being attacked and racially abused… In a time of heightened racial and religious tensions they should have been on the scene to aid a young girl who had been punched, verbally abused and was bleeding…”

Wow! The reserve, the euphemisms, the political correctness. No punches pulled on behalf of the teenage Arab murderer but who cares about our young?

No exceptions for terrorists of any age, gender or mental capacity.

    The world turned upside down.

There’s scarier things than death, especially to a young person who has been raised to glorify it (young people have little awareness of their own mortality and are easily carried away by fantasy so they make the best soldiers wherever brutality and self-sacrifice are required).

They aren’t afraid of us. That’s the problem.

Someone really mixed up commentors, here.

In a war, one does not waste men and material on tending to a wounded enemy, especially not in the heat of battle.

One must wound them, in hopes that they will waste resources in order to save their fallen, fellow belligerent.

It’s their war. Let them deal with the fallout. If they don’t like it, they can stop making war.

What Jewish Values? What on earth are you talking about? Sure there was a little ethical tweaking here and there of the prevailing norms. Tiny things here and there. But so what? Why should we be any less tribal than our enemies. Of course we are superior. Of course we are more deserving of life than those who wish us dead. Because we are us and they are them. It’s a zero sum game. True throughout nature and throughout human history. We must stand by our own.

What Jewish Values? What on earth are you talking about? Sure there was a little ethical tweaking here and there of the prevailing norms. Tiny things here and there. But so what? Why should we be any less tribal than our mortal enemies. We never were back then were we? Of course we are superior. Of course we are more deserving of life than those who wish us dead. Because we are us and they are them irrespective of our morality or the lack thereof. It simply doesn’t matter. To hell with “purity of arms.” Maybe that’s why there’s too many pacifist retired generals. It’s a zero sum game. True throughout nature and throughout human history. We must stand by our own.

Like the Kennedys, Golda wasn’t the pacifist wuss that liberals make her out to be, re-writing history.
From Orianna Fallaci’s November 1972 interview with Golda in Interview with History Boston, 1976., pp. 100-101:

O: “What do you think of this war and the men who are conducting it? Of Arafat, for instance, of Habash, of the Black September leaders?

G: I simply think they’re not men. I don’t even consider them human beings, and the worst thing you can say of a man is that he’s not a human being. It’s like saying he’s an animal isn’t it?…”

O: And how can one fight such terrorism Mrs. Meir? Do you think it really helps to bomb Lebanese villages?

G: To a certain extent, yes. Of course. Because the Fedayeen are in those villages. The Lebanese themselves say they can’t do anything. Well, that’s what Hussein used to say at the time when the Fedayeen were encamped in Jordan. Even our American friends said it. “It’s not that Hussein doesn’t want to get rid of them! It’s that he doesn’t have enough strength to get rid of them.” But in September 1970, when Amman was in danger and his palace was in danger and he himself found himself in danger, Hussein realized he could do something. And he liquidated them. If the Lebanese go on doing nothing, we’ll respond. “Very well. We realize your difficulties. You can’t do anything. But we can. And to show you, we’ll bomb those areas that shelter the Fedayeen…Praying doesn’t help. What helps is to counterattack. With all possible means, including means that we don’t necessarily like. Certainly we’d rather fight them in the open. But since that’s not possible…”

O: Mrs. Meir, what if Israel let the Palestinian refugees come back here?

G: Impossible. For twenty years they’ve been fed hatred for us, they can’t come back among us. Their children weren’t born here, they were born in the camps, and the only thing they know is that they must kill Israelis, destroy Israel. We found arithmetic books in the Gaza schools that put problems like this: “You have five Israelis. You kill three of them. How many Israelis are left to be killed?” When you teach such things to children of seven or eight, there’s no more hope. Oh, it would be a great misfortune if there were no other solution for them but to return here! But, there is a solution. It was demonstrated by the Jordanians when they gave them citizenship and called on them to build a country called Jordan…”p. 104

“…In the stretch of land between the Mediterranean and the borders of Iraq, there’s room only for two countries: one Arab and one Jewish…The important thing is that a third Arab state doesn’t emerge between us and Jordan. We don’t want it. We can’t allow it. Because it would come to be used as a dagger against us…” p.106

She was worse than a pacifist. She was a weak traitorous coward. Fearful of the American reaction and procrastinating in the face of a Jewish holiday, she did not preempt in 1973 when the Egyptian military buildup was unmistakable, though she could have deluded herself about its purpose. Compounding a grave error with a grave crime, Golda sent Jewish reservists to the slaughter, which resulted in 10,000 casualties—instead of employing nuclear weapons. Golda’s fear of world opinion greatly exceeded her concern with Jewish lives. That ugly character famously announced that she could forgive the Arabs for killing Jews, but not for making the Jews to kill Arabs. Likewise, her accomplice Moshe Dayan remarked during the early stages of the Yom Kippur war, “We’re witnessing the Third Temple’s destruction,” and reportedly was on the way to offer capitulation instead of nuking the Arabs. To this day few have any warm positive feelings for her or Dayan in Israel….

Baseless hatred? Baseless? How many friends, relatives and loved ones have you lost to anti-semitic Terror? What Jewish values?

Rabbis tried to make Jews nice, to make us “more pious than God.” Guess what, Jews are not nice. From those who fought under Abraham to those who robbed the Egyptians to those who knocked down the towns of Canaan to Dir Yassin to Kach—the Jews are anything but nice. Jews must serve God and their moral principles zealously, and how could humble people be zealous? Zeal is about certainty of one’s right and willingness to establish that right in the Land of Israel.

Nice Jews were supposed to talk nice, and rabbis invented the doctrine of evil tongue. What could be further from Judaism? It is the obligation of any Jew to talk bad—very bad—about deviants, and to denounce evildoers. That’s regardless of his or her own piety. Judges need not be unblemished and righteous in order to condemn sinners. The evil tongue is bad only if it spreads baseless rumors. Speaking evil of an evil person is an obligation. Jews need to denounce their own in order to cleanse society.

Modern rabbis have made Judaism into a copycat of Christianity by declaring “love your neighbor” to be the major commandment. It is only a technical commandment which bans inequality of aliens in the court of law. The major thing in Judaism is simply… Judaism.

Don’t be afraid to say that the Jewish way of life is inherently better than any other. Jews are more ethical because we adhere to more ethical prohibitions. Judaism is about strength—social and moral. Only a strong society can expel deviants for every moral offense. Only a strong society unrelentingly executes and otherwise punishes those who threaten its moral integrity and ritual purity. Only a strong society exterminates Amalek.

Strength inhibits assimilation. For American Jews, in the 1967 war “we won,” but in the peace process “they are giving the land away.” The Diaspora identifies with strong Israel, and dissociates from the weak.

I fell in love with Nietzsche the moment I read him praising the crowd of club-wielding Hebrews.

So, nobody’s perfect. Interesting that nobody has used nukes since 1945. I know of at least one book pondering that though I haven’t read it.

Armageddon Postponed: A Different View of Nuclear Weapons
    by Theodore Caplow (Summary)

“In the closing days of World War II, scientists working for the U.S. government invented nuclear explosives by splitting the atoms of heavy metals. Germany had already surrendered, but the United States and its allies remained at war with Japan. In the summer of 1945, the Japanese city of Hiroshima was flattened by a single nuclear bomb. A second bombing occurred just a few days later, decimating the city of Nagasaki. These were the first nuclear weapons ever used in war.

‘And – so far – they are the last.

‘Since then, tens of thousands of nuclear weapons have been manufactured and deployed by governments around the world. Many of these weapons are much more powerful than the atomic bombs that destroyed the two Japanese cities. None have been used so far, and the absence of nuclear war among nations armed to the teeth with nuclear weapons is a great mystery.

‘While the threat of a nuclear attack on the United States has receded, the possibility of a nuclear attack on an American city by terrorists has taken its place in our official nightmares. So far, no terrorist group has made a serious effort to buy, steal, or build a nuclear weapon. The absence of nuclear terrorism in a world swarming with fanatical terrorists is another great mystery.

”The slippery slope to a nuclear Armageddon has been present for more than sixty years. In secure locations in Washington, Moscow, Beijing, London, and Paris, there are buttons to push than could put an end to human civilization, but these buttons have never been pushed.

‘Why not? What has so far kept us safe from these mortal dangers?

Those are the questions that Caplow asks and answers in Armageddon Postponed.”

Question… What are Jews doing living in England, some say the most anti-Semitic country in Europe? In truth I have little sympathy for what happens to Jews who despite all of the warning signs still cling to the exile…. Today it’s their choice and there are consequences for wrong choices.

    Answer: Self evident!!

  33. @ Sebastien Zorn:

Her flaws resulted in over 10,000 Jewish casualties and 2500 dead Jews. We came within a hair of losing the whole country because of her imperfections…. Yet she paid no direct consequences for her perfidy… The Labor party yes she, No!! You can take the Jew from the ghetto but it’s difficult to take the ghetto mentality out of the Jewish mindset and world view… Will take many generation it seems for the complete turnaround…..

  34. @ Sebastien Zorn:

In the early days of the war things were so bad that there was not only fear but a belief by the government and general staff at least some that it was really the end we had no defenses against the Syrians and Egyptians and were expending men and material at a rate that without rapid resupply we would soon run out of ammo. We were losing half our air-force to Egyptian SAM’s….. A couple of small yield tactical nukes would have stopped both the Egyptians and Syrians and save thousand of our troops. Only because of the threat where American Intel detect Israel readying a nuclear strike did Kissinger and Nixon agree to resupply Israel. Because the Europeans would not allow American overflight it delayed first supply by almost a critical week. By the time the first plane arrived we had the whole third army surrounded and surrendered. Sharon had already crossed the canal and the road to Cairo was open virtually ending the war in Sinai only then did Kissinger and Nixon intervene to stop us. The generous resupply came too late to effect the outcome of the war.

When it comes to national survival you employ whatever means you have and there was a case for national survival and a serious even criminal dereliction of will/ spine. ‘What the goyim will say’ became more important to those pygmies than national survival

The Arabs attacked knowing full well Israel had nukes but the attacked anyway…. They did not believe or take seriously our will to use them, rendering them worthless for a deterrent… Use a few and it elevates them to real deterrent.

  35. @ Yoel Ben-Avraham:

Oy!!! “let the high praises of G-d be in their throat and a two edged sword in their hand – to execute vengeance upon the nations…” (Psalms 58).

The rabbis say: “Yes, when vengeance is needed, it is a great thing” (Brachot, 3a).

Jews of Ashkenaz created a prayer of vengeance in memory of the Jews massacred during the Crusades, a prayer that we read each Sabbath and that says:

“May He avenge the blood of His servants which has been shed, as it is written in the Torah of Moses, the man of G-d: ‘O nations, make His people joyful! He avenges the blood of His servants, renders retribution to His foes and atones for His land and His people.’ And in the holy writings it says: ‘Why should the nations say, ‘where is their G-d?'”

Our sages teach (Kohelet Rabbah 3:[8]1):

“There is ‘a time to kill’ – during war; ‘and a time to heal’ – during peace. There is ‘a time to break down’ – during war; ‘and a time to build up’ – during peace… There is ‘a time to seek’ – during peace; ‘and a time to lose’ – during war. There is ‘a time to rend’ – during war; ‘and a time to sew’ – during peace… There is ‘a time to love’ – during peace; ‘and a time to hate’ – during war. There is ‘a time for war’ – during war; ‘and a time for peace’ – during peace.”

Tanchuma, Shoftim 15: “‘When you go forth to battle against your enemies’ (Deut. 20:1)… What is meant by ‘against your enemies‘? G-d said, ‘Confront them as enemies. Just as they show you no mercy, so should you not show them mercy.’”

Our sages also said (Sifri, Shoftim 192):

“You are going to war against your enemies and not against your brethren. It is not Judah against Simeon or Simeon against Judah such that if you fall captive they will have mercy on you… It is against your ENEMIES that you are waging war. If you fall into their hands, they will show you no mercy.”

Who won the “covenant of peace,” the everlasting reward of peace, if not Pinchas? Pinchas acted zealously on G-d’s behalf, taking G-d’s revenge, and becoming the first mashuach milchamah, or kohen anointed to lead the nation in war (Deut. 20:2-4). Yet G-d said (Num. 25:12), “Tell him that I have given him My covenant of PEACE.”

  36. @ Edgar G.:

I hope we begin to show even flaunt our nukes before to complete takeover of Europe by Muslims… I would make a law where we unleash our nukes automatically when our radars detect incoming missiles. We publish initial nuke targets which would include Mecca all the oil fields in the ME most European capitals including Turkey Iran and Moscow. To emphasize our seriousness I would dismantle the IDF to airforce missile command navy and border patrol. We will rely on our nukes and 2nd strike capabilities.

Stockpile Israeli WMD and systems for delivery

The State of Israel has never made public any details of its nuclear capability or arsenal. The following is a history of estimates by many different sources on the size and strength of Israel’s nuclear arsenal. Estimates may vary due to the amount of material Israel has on store versus assembled weapons, and estimates as to how much material the weapons actually use, as well as the overall time in which the reactor was operated.

1948- Israel begins recruiting Jewish nuclear scientists and forming scientific institutes during war of independence for a nuclear weapons program.[110]
1949- Israeli scientists invited to participate in French nuclear program [1][2][3]
1957- Dimona nuclear facility construction begins with French assistance [1]
1960- First French nuclear tests, Israel scientists participated alongside French with access to all test data, [1]Charles de Gaulle begins to disconnect French program from Israeli[111]
1961- Dimona nuclear facility operational [1]
1963- Alleged underground nuclear test in Negev desert[112][28][1]
1966- Alleged Underground nuclear test in Negev desert, possibly zero yield or implosion type[113] First fully weaponized fission designed for aircraft delivery available for activation[114]
    1967- (Six Day War)– 2 bombs;[115][116] 13 bombs[117]
    1969– 5–6 bombs of 19 kilotons yield each[118]

    1985– at least 100 nuclear bombs[128][129]
1986– 100 to 200 fission bombs and a number of fusion bombs[130] Vanunu leaks Dimona facility secrets, at US’s level in fission and boosted weapons as of 1955 to 1960, would require supercomputers to improve their “less complex” hydrogen bombs without nuclear tests, had “unequivocally” tested a miniaturized nuclear device.[89]
    1991– 50–60 to 200–300[131]
1992– more than 200 bombs,[129] estimated 40 top nuclear weapons scientists immigrated to Israel from ex-USSR.[85]

    2008– 150 or more nuclear weapons.[140]
2008– 80 intact warheads, of which 50 are re-entry vehicles for delivery by ballistic missiles and the rest bombs for delivery by aircraft. Total military plutonium stockpile 340–560 kg[141]
2009– Estimates of weapon numbers differ sharply with plausible estimates varying from 60 to 400.[142]
2010– According to Jane’s Defense Weekly Israel has between 100 and 300 nuclear warheads, most of them are probably being kept in unassembled mode but can become fully functional “in a matter of days”.[143]
2010– “More than 100 weapons, mainly two-stage thermonuclear devices, capable of being delivered by missile, fighter-bomber, or submarine”[32] After extensive renovations Dimona facility now functioning as new[86]
2014– Approximately 80 nuclear warheads for delivery by two dozen missiles, a couple of squadrons of aircraft, and perhaps a small number of sea-launched cruise missiles.[144]
    2014– “300 or more” nuclear weapons.[30]
2015– “Israel has 200, all targeted on Tehran”[31][145]

    Delivery systems
Main articles: Nuclear weapons delivery and Nuclear triad

Israeli military forces possess land, air, and sea based methods for deploying their nuclear weapons, thus forming a nuclear triad that is mainly medium to long ranged, the backbone of which is submarine-launched cruise missiles and medium and intercontinental ballistic missiles, with Israeli Air Force long range strike aircraft on call to perform nuclear interdiction and strategic strikes.[146] During 2008 the Jericho III ICBM became operational, giving Israel extremely long range nuclear strike abilities.[147][148]
    Missiles
    Main article: Jericho (missile)

Israel is believed to have nuclear second-strike abilities in the form of its submarine fleet and its nuclear-capable ballistic missiles that are understood to be buried deeply enough that they would survive a pre-emptive nuclear strike.[32][149] Ernst David Bergmann was the first to seriously begin thinking about ballistic missile capability and Israel test-fired its first Shavit II sounding rocket in July 1961.[150][151] In 1963 Israel put a large-scale project into motion, to jointly develop and build 25 short-range missiles with the French aerospace company Dassault. The Israeli project, codenamed Project 700, also included the construction of a missile field at Hirbat Zacharia, a site west of Jerusalem.[152] The missiles that were first developed with France became the Jericho I system, first operational in 1971. It is possible that the Jericho I was removed from operational service during the 1990s. In the mid-1980s the Jericho II medium-range missile, which is believed to have a range of 2800–5000 km, entered service.[153][154][1] It is believed that Jericho II is capable of delivering nuclear weapons with a superior degree of accuracy.[155] The Shavit three stages solid fuel space launch vehicle produced by Israel to launch many of its satellites into low earth orbit since 1988 is a civilian version of the Jericho II.[156] The Jericho III ICBM, became operational in January 2008[157][158] and some reports speculate that the missile may be able to carry MIRVed warheads.[159] The maximum range estimation of the Jericho III is 11,500 km with a payload of 1000–1300 kg (up to six small nuclear warheads of 100 kt each or one 1 megaton nuclear warhead),[160][161] and its accuracy is considered high.[157] In January 2008 Israel carried out the successful test launch of a long-range, ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead from the reported launch site at the Palmachim Airbase south of Tel Aviv.[162] Israeli radio identified the missile as a Jericho III and the Hebrew YNet news Web site quoted unnamed defence officials as saying the test had been “dramatic”[163][164] and that the new missile can reach “extremely long distances”, without elaborating.[165] Soon after the successful test launch, Isaac Ben-Israel, a retired army general and Tel Aviv University professor, told Israeli Channel 2 TV:

Everybody can do the math and understand that the significance is that we can reach with a rocket engine to every point in the world

The test came two days after Ehud Olmert, then Israel’s Prime Minister, warned that “all options were on the table to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons” and a few months later Israel bombed a suspected Syrian nuclear facility built with extensive help from North Korea.[166] At the same time, regional defense experts said that by the beginning of 2008, Israel had already launched a programme to extend the range of its existing Jericho II ground attack missiles.[158] The Jericho-II B missile is capable of sending a one ton nuclear payload 5,000 kilometers.[1] The range of Israels’ Jericho II B missiles is reportedly capable of being modified to carry nuclear warheads no heavier than 500 kg over 7,800 km, making it an ICBM.[167] It is estimated that Israel has between 50 and 100 Jericho II B missiles based at facilities built in the 1980s.[168] The number of Jericho III missiles that Israel possesses is unknown.

Israel is believed to use fighter bombers as a means to deliver nuclear weapons. The Israeli Aerial refueling fleet of modified Boeing 707s and the use of external and conformal fuel tanks gives Israeli F-15, F-15I and F-16 fighter bombers strategic reach as demonstrated in Operation Wooden Leg. F-16 fighter aircraft have been cited as possible nuclear delivery systems.[169][170][171][172]

    Main article: Popeye Turbo

The Israeli Navy operates modern German-built Dolphin-class submarines.[173] The first three Dolphins were delivered to Israel in 1999 and replaced the aging Gal class submarines, which had served in the Israeli navy since the late 1970s.[174] Various reports[155] indicate that these submarines are equipped with Popeye Turbo cruise missiles that can deliver nuclear and conventional[175] warheads with extremely high accuracy. The proven effectiveness of cruise missiles of its own production may have been behind Israel’s recent acquisition of these submarines which are equipped with torpedo tubes suitable for launching long-range (1500–2400 km) nuclear-capable cruise missiles[176][177] that would offer Israel a second strike capability.[178] Israel is reported to possess a 200 kg nuclear warhead, containing 6 kg of plutonium, that could be mounted on cruise missiles.[176] The missiles were reportedly test launched in the Indian Ocean near Sri Lanka in June 2000, and are reported to have hit their target at a range of 1500 km. In June 2002, former State Department and Pentagon officials confirmed that the US Navy observed Israeli missile tests in the Indian Ocean in 2000, and that the Dolphin-class vessels have been fitted with nuclear-capable cruise missiles of a new design. It is believed by some to be a version of Rafael Armament Development Authority’s Popeye turbo cruise missile while some believe that the missile may be a version of the Gabriel 4LR that is produced by Israel Aircraft Industries. However, others claim that such a range implies an entirely new type of missile.[179][180][181] During the second half of the 1990s, Israel asked the United States to sell it 50 Tomahawk land-attack cruise missiles to enhance its deep-strike capabilities. Washington rejected Israel’s request in March 1998, since such a sale would have violated the Missile Technology Control Regime guidelines, which prohibit the transfer of missiles with a range exceeding 300 km. Shortly after the rejection, an Israeli official told Defense News, “History has taught us that we cannot wait indefinitely for Washington to satisfy our military requirements. If this weapon system is denied to us, we will have little choice but to activate our own defense industry in pursuit of this needed capability.” In July 1998, the Air Intelligence Center warned the US Congress that Israel was developing a new type of cruise missile.[182]

According to Israeli defense sources, in June 2009 Israeli Dolphin-class submarine sailed from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea via the Suez Canal during a drill that showed that Israel can access the Indian Ocean, and the Persian Gulf, far more easily than before.[183] IDF sources said the decision to allow navy vessels to sail through the canal was made recently and was a definite “change of policy” within the service. Israeli officials said the submarine was surfaced when it passed through the canal. In the event of a conflict with Iran, and if Israel decided to involve its Dolphin-class submarines, the quickest route would be to send them through the Suez Canal.[184]

The Israeli fleet was expanded after Israel signed a 1.3 billion euro contract to purchase two additional submarines from ThyssenKrupp’s subsidiary Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft in 2006. These two U212s are to be delivered to the Israeli navy in 2011 and are “Dolphin II” class submarines.[185] The submarines are believed to be capable of launching cruise missiles carrying nuclear warheads, despite statements by the German government in 2006, in confirming the sale of the two vessels, that they were not equipped to carry nuclear weapons.[186] The two new boats are an upgraded version of the old Dolphins, and equipped with an air-independent propulsion system, that allow them to remain submerged for longer periods of time than the three nuclear arms-capable submarines that have been in Israel’s fleet since 1999.[149][187] In October 2009 it was reported that the Israeli navy sought to buy a sixth Dolphin class submarine.[178]

On June 4, 2012, Der Spiegel published an investigative article stating that Israel has armed its newest submarines with nuclear missiles.[188] Numerous Israeli and German officials were quoted testifying to the nuclear capabilities of the submarines and the placement of nuclear missiles aboard the ships. In response to the article, officials from both Germany and Israel refused to comment.[189] Several papers have stated the implications of Israel attaining these nuclear weapon carrying submarines are increased due to the threat of attacks upon Iran by Israel.[190]
    Other

It has been reported that Israel has several other nuclear weapons capabilities:

Suitcase bomb: Seymour Hersh reports that Israel developed the ability to miniaturize warheads small enough to fit in a suitcase by the year 1973.[191]
Tactical nuclear weapon: Israel may also have 175 mm and 203 mm self-propelled artillery pieces, capable of firing nuclear shells. There are three battalions of the 175mm artillery (36 tubes), reportedly with 108 nuclear shells and more for the 203mm tubes. If true, these low yield, tactical nuclear artillery rounds could reach at least 25 miles (40 km), while by some sources it is possible that the range was extended to 45 miles (72 km) during the 1990s.[1]
EMP strike capabilities: Israel allegedly possesses several 1 megaton bombs,[192][193] which give it a very large EMP attack ability.[194] For example, if a megaton-class weapon were to be detonated 400 kilometers above Omaha, Nebraska, US, nearly the entire continental United States would be affected with potentially damaging EMP experience from Boston to Los Angeles and from Chicago to New Orleans.[195] A similar high-altitude airburst above Iran could cause serious damage to all of the electrical systems in the Middle East, and much of Europe.[196]
Enhanced Radiation Weapon (ERW): Israel also is reported to have an unknown number of neutron bombs.[1]
Nuclear land mine: Israel supposedly has deployed multiple defensive nuclear land mines in the Golan Heights.[197][198][199][200]

    Policy
Main article: Policy of deliberate ambiguity

Israel’s deliberately ambiguous policy to confirm or deny its own possession of nuclear weapons, or to give any indication regarding their potential use, make it necessary to gather details from other sources, including diplomatic and intelligence sources and ‘unauthorized’ statements by its political and military leaders. Alternatively, with the Begin Doctrine, Israel is very clear and decisive regarding the country’s policy on potential developments of nuclear capability by any other regional adversaries, which it will not allow.

Although Israel has officially acknowledged the existence of Dimona since Ben-Gurion’s speech to the Knesset in December 1960, Israel has never officially acknowledged its construction or possession of nuclear weapons.[201] In addition to this policy, on May 18, 1966, Prime Minister Levi Eshkol told the Knesset that “Israel has no atomic weapons and will not be the first to introduce them into our region,” a policy first articulated by Shimon Peres to U.S. President John F. Kennedy in April 1963.[202] In the late 1960s, Israeli Ambassador to the US Yitzhak Rabin informed the United States State Department that its understanding of “introducing” such weapons meant that they would be tested and publicly declared, while merely possessing the weapons did not constitute “introducing” them.[203][204] Avner Cohen defines this initial posture as “nuclear ambiguity”, but he defines the stage after it became clear by 1970 that Israel possessed nuclear weapons as a policy of amimut,[32] or “nuclear opacity”.[205]

In 1998, former Prime Minister Shimon Peres said that Israel “built a nuclear option, not in order to have a Hiroshima but an Oslo”.[206] The “nuclear option” may refer to a nuclear weapon or to the nuclear reactor near Dimona, which Israel claims is used for scientific research. Peres, in his capacity as the Director General of the Ministry of Defense in the early 1950s, was responsible for building Israel’s nuclear capability.[207]

In a December 2006 interview, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert stated that Iran aspires “to have a nuclear weapon as America, France, Israel and Russia”.[208] Olmert’s office later said that the quote was taken out of context; in other parts of the interview, Olmert refused to confirm or deny Israel’s nuclear weapon status.[209]
    Doctrine
Main articles: Nuclear strategy, Deterrence theory, and Assured destruction

Israel’s nuclear doctrine is shaped by its lack of strategic depth: a subsonic fighter jet could cross the 72 kilometres (39 nmi) from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea in just 4 minutes. It additionally relies on a reservist-based military which magnifies civilian and military losses in its small population. Israel tries to compensate for these weaknesses by emphasising intelligence, maneuverability and firepower.[197]

As a result, its strategy is based on the premise that it cannot afford to lose a single war, and thus must prevent them by maintaining deterrence, including the option of preemption. If these steps are insufficient, it seeks to prevent escalation and determine a quick and decisive war outside of its borders.[197]

Strategically, Israel’s long-range missiles, nuclear-capable aircraft, and possibly its submarines present an effective second strike deterrence against unconventional and conventional attack, and if Israel’s defences fail and its population centers are threatened, the Samson Option, an all-out attack against an adversary, would be employed. Its nuclear arsenal can also be used tactically to destroy military units on the battlefield.[197]

Although nuclear weapons are viewed as the ultimate guarantor of Israeli security, as early as the 1960s the country has avoided building its military around them, instead pursuing absolute conventional superiority so as to forestall a last-resort nuclear engagement.[197]

According to historian Avner Cohen, Israel first articulated an official policy on the use of nuclear weapons in 1966, which revolved around four “red lines” that could lead to a nuclear response:[210]

A successful military penetration into populated areas within Israel’s post-1949 (pre-1967) borders.
The destruction of the Israeli Air Force.
The exposure of Israeli cities to massive and devastating air attacks or to possible chemical or biological attacks.
The use of nuclear weapons against Israeli territory.

    Deployment

Seymour Hersh alleges weapons were deployed on several occasions. On October 8, 1973, just after the start of the Yom Kippur War, Golda Meir and her closest aides decided to put eight nuclear armed F-4s at Tel Nof Airbase on 24-hour alert and as many nuclear missile launchers at Sedot Mikha Airbase operational as possible. Seymour Hersh adds that the initial target list that night “included the Egyptian and Syrian military headquarters near Cairo and Damascus”.[211] This nuclear alert was meant not only as a means of precaution, but to push the Soviets to restrain the Arab offensive and to convince the US to begin sending supplies. One later report said that a Soviet intelligence officer did warn the Egyptian chief of staff, and colleagues of US National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger said that the threat of a nuclear exchange caused him to urge for a massive Israeli resupply.[212] Hersh points out that before Israel obtained its own satellite capability, it engaged in espionage against the United States to obtain nuclear targeting information on Soviet targets.[213]

After Iraq attacked Israel with Scud missiles during the 1991 Gulf War, Israel went on full-scale nuclear alert and mobile nuclear missile launchers were deployed.[214] In the buildup to the United States 2003 invasion of Iraq, there were concerns that Iraq would launch an unconventional weapons attack on Israel. After discussions with President George W. Bush, the then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon warned “If our citizens are attacked seriously — by a weapon of mass destruction, chemical, biological or by some mega-terror attack act — and suffer casualties, then Israel will respond.” Israeli officials interpreted President Bush’s stance as allowing a nuclear Israeli retaliation on Iraq, but only if Iraq struck before the U.S. military invasion.[215]

Israeli military and nuclear doctrine increasingly focused on preemptive war against any possible attack with conventional, chemical, biological or nuclear weapons, or even a potential conventional attack on Israel’s weapons of mass destruction.[1][216]

Louis René Beres, who contributed to Project Daniel, urges that Israel continue and improve these policies, in concert with the increasingly preemptive nuclear policies of the United States, as revealed in the Doctrine for Joint Nuclear Operations.[217]
    Maintaining nuclear superiority

Alone or with other nations, Israel has used diplomatic and military efforts as well as covert action to prevent other Middle Eastern countries from acquiring nuclear weapons.[218]

For example, it is believed that Israel filed a false laser patent in the late 1970s to mislead Arab nuclear research. Mossad agents triggered explosions in April 1979 at a French production plant near Toulouse, damaging the two reactor cores destined for the Iraqi reactors. Mossad agents may also have been behind the assassinations of an Egyptian nuclear engineer in Paris as well as two Iraqi engineers, all working for the Iraqi nuclear program.[219]

On June 7, 1981, Israel launched a preemptive air strike against Saddam Hussein’s breeder reactor in Osirak, Iraq, in Operation Opera. The Mossad – as well as any number of other intelligence agencies – are also frequently said to have assassinated professor Gerald Bull, an artillery expert, who was allegedly building a massive cannon or “super gun” for Saddam Hussein in the 1980s, which was capable of delivering a tactical nuclear payload.[220]

On September 6, 2007, Israel launched an air strike dubbed Operation Orchard against a target in the Deir ez-Zor region of Syria. While Israel refused to comment, unnamed US officials said Israel had shared intelligence with them that North Korea was cooperating with Syria on some sort of nuclear facility.[221] Both Syria and North Korea denied the allegation and Syria filed a formal complaint with the United Nations.[222][223] The International Atomic Energy Agency concluded in May 2011 that the destroyed facility was “very likely” an undeclared nuclear reactor.[224]

Journalist Seymour Hersh speculated that this air strike might have been intended as a trial run for striking alleged Iranian nuclear weapons facilities.[225] On January 7, 2007, The Sunday Times reported that Israel had drawn up plans to destroy three Iranian nuclear facilities with low-yield nuclear bunker-busters that would be launched by aircraft through “tunnels” created by conventional laser-guided bombs. These tactical nuclear weapons would then explode underground to reduce radioactive fallout.[226] Israel swiftly denied the specific allegation and analysts expressed doubts about its reliability.[227] However, in 2004 its then Defense minister said that it rules out no option.[228] The death of the Iranian physicist Ardeshir Hassanpour, who may have been involved in the nuclear program, has been reported by the intelligence group Stratfor to have been a Mossad assassination.[229] Iran is currently conducting atomic research that Israel fears is aimed at building a nuclear weapon. Israel has pressed for United Nations economic sanctions against Iran,[230] and has repeatedly threatened to launch a military strike on Iran if the United States does not do so first.[32][231][232]

The 2010 Stuxnet malware – which targeted Iran’s nuclear program – is widely believed to have been sponsored by Israel. In 2009, a year before Stuxnet was discovered, researcher Scott Borg suggested that Israel might prefer to mount a cyber-attack rather than a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.[233][234] Iran uses IR-1 centrifuges at Natanz, which are based on the P-1 centrifuge, the design A. Q. Khan stole in 1976 and took to Pakistan.[235] His black market nuclear-proliferation network sold P-1s to, among other customers, Iran and Libya. Experts believe that Israel also somehow acquired P-1s and tested Stuxnet on the centrifuges, installed at the Dimona facility that is part of its own nuclear program.[236] The equipment may be from the United States, which received P-1s from Libya’s former nuclear program.[237][236]
Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and United Nations’ Resolutions

Israel was originally expected to sign the 1968 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and on June 12, 1968, Israel voted in favor of the treaty in the UN General Assembly. But when the invasion of Czechoslovakia in August by the Soviet Union delayed ratification around the world, Israel’s internal division and hesitation over the treaty became public.[238] The Johnson administration attempted to use the sale of 50 F-4 Phantoms to pressure Israel to sign the treaty that fall, culminating in a personal letter from Lyndon Johnson to Israeli PM Levi Eshkol. But by November Johnson had backed away from tying the F-4 sale with the NPT after a stalemate in negotiations, and Israel would neither sign nor ratify the treaty.[239] After the series of negotiations, U.S. assistant secretary of defense for international security Paul Warnke was convinced that Israel already possessed nuclear weapons.[240] In 2007 Israel sought an exemption to non-proliferation rules in order to import atomic material legally.[241]

In 1996, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution[242] calling for the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the region of the Middle East.[243] Arab nations and annual conferences of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) repeatedly have called for application of IAEA safeguards and the creation of a nuclear-free Middle East. Arab nations have accused the United States of practicing a double standard in criticizing Iran’s nuclear program while ignoring Israel’s possession of nuclear weapons.[244][245][246] According to a statement by the Arab League, Arab states will withdraw from the NPT if Israel acknowledges having nuclear weapons but refuses to open its facilities to international inspection and destroy its arsenal.[247]

In a statement to the May 2009 preparatory meeting for the 2010 NPT Review Conference, the US delegation reiterated the longstanding US support for “universal adherence to the NPT”, but uncharacteristically named Israel among the four countries that have not done so. An unnamed Israeli official dismissed the suggestion that it would join the NPT and questioned the effectiveness of the treaty.[248] The Washington Times reported that this statement threatened to derail the 40-year-old secret agreement between the US and Israel to shield Israel’s nuclear weapons program from international scrutiny.[249] According to Avner Cohen, by not stating that Israel has atomic weapons, the US avoids having to sanction the country for violating American non-proliferation law.[250] Cohen, author of Israel and the Bomb, argued that acknowledging its nuclear program would allow Israel to take part constructively in efforts to control nuclear weapons.[251]

The Final Document of the 2010 NPT Review Conference called for a conference in 2012 to implement a resolution of the 1995 NPT Review Conference that called for the establishment of a Middle East Zone free of weapons of mass destruction. The United States joined the international consensus for Final Document, but criticized the section on the Middle East resolution for singling out Israel as the only state in the region that is not party to the NPT, while at the same time ignoring Iran’s “longstanding violation of the NPT and UN Security Council Resolutions.”[252]
