 If Adolf Hitler were to materialize in the political landscape of the 21st century, he would not waste his time with the politically impotent fringes of the political right. As a historical master of mass psychology and opportunistic institutional capture, Hitler would seek out the most potent modern vehicles for absolute state control. He would look for the forces that command academia, dominate legacy media, engineer corporate speech, and weaponize administrative state power to crush individual sovereignty.

He would, without a doubt, recognize his ideological kin and identify as a progressive leftist.

To grasp this reality requires moving past superficial historical aesthetics and examining the raw, unchanging mechanics of the authoritarian mind.

The common denominator among Nazism, Marxism, Islamism, and modern progressive globalism is a totalizing desire to overwrite individual agency by erasing foundational boundaries—whether those boundaries are geographical borders, the privacy of your home, or the autonomy of your own mind. They require an endless, uniform canvas to paint their collective utopias, and they enforce their visions through the ultimate suppression of human liberty.

The Border-Smashing Imperialists: Refuting True Nationalism

A pervasive historical error labels Hitler as a “nationalist.” True nationalism is fundamentally self-contained; it relies on fixed, sovereign boundaries and respects the borders of neighboring states. Hitler, by contrast, was an expansionist imperialist whose entire ideology was built on the violent violation of borders. Through his policy of Lebensraum, Hitler crossed sovereign borders, explicit in his belief that geographic boundaries were mere inconveniences to be liquidated by the march of the collective state.

This boundary-smashing impulse forms a direct bridge to Marxism, Islamism, and modern progressive leftism. Traditional Marxism completely refutes national boundaries, declaring in the Communist Manifesto that “the working men have no country” and demanding a borderless global revolution. Islamism similarly divides the world into artificial constructs, seeking to erase modern state lines to establish a transnational Caliphate.

Today, the progressive socialist left operates on the exact same psychological blueprint. By demanding open borders and championing globalist structures over national sovereignty, the modern left seeks to dissolve the protective boundaries of the nation-state.

The Autocratic Blueprint: Centralized Power at the Point of a Gun

At the heart of Nazism, Marxism, Islamism, and progressive leftism lies a profound hatred for individual agency. In each of these systems, a centralized leader or elite committee makes decisions for the collective, dictating what is “right” or “wrong.” Whether implemented historically by Hitler’s Gestapo, the Marxist gulag, the Islamist sword, or the heavy-handed mandates of the modern administrative state, the collective will is always enforced at the point of a gun.

To ensure the survival of the collective over the individual, all of these systems rely on the systematic denial of private property and the aggressive implementation of censorship. Where Hitler enforced Gleichschaltung (the forced coordination of all public and private institutions), the progressive left utilizes “cancel culture” and institutional censorship to achieve the exact same result: the absolute destruction of dissent. If you do not submit your speech and thoughts to the collective consensus, you are systematically erased from public life.

The Deeper History: A Continuous Line of Genocidal Hatred

The current explosion of modern left-wing antisemitism is not a sudden aberration; it is the resumption of a timeline that predates the 1948 establishment of Israel. The historical continuity of targeting the Jew spans millennia, beginning with the Roman Empire’s destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE, which uprooted the population of Judea and transported thousands as slaves into Europe. Once embedded across the European continent, the Jewish minority faced centuries of systemic, state-sanctioned collectivist cruelty—ranging from mass expulsions to devastating pogroms, and the absurd scapegoating during the Black Plague.

The historical reality of the word Judea reveals the linguistic fraud of modern anti-Zionism: Judea literally translates to the land of the Jew. To echo the famous observation of historical giants like T.E. Lawrence and his documentarian Lowell Thomas, who famously chronicled the rebirth of the region, the foundational blueprint was always “Arabia for the Arabs, Judea for the Jews, and Armenia for the Armenians”.

Upon Israel’s modern birth, Thomas remarked on air:

“Today, as the Jewish State is established, Americans read through the Bible as a historical reference book.”

You cannot separate the identity of the Jew from the very soil that bears their name.

When the Nazi machinery of industrial slaughter began, the Western democratic collective largely closed its eyes. The institutionalized antisemitism of the West manifested clearly at the 1938 Évian Conference, where 32 nations—including the United States, Britain, and France—expressed hollow sympathy for Jewish refugees while firmly slamming their borders shut.

This systemic indifference was captured perfectly by Canada’s immigration policy during the Holocaust, historically documented by scholars Irving Abella and Harold Troper. When an immigration official was asked how many Jews should be allowed entry to escape certain slaughter, he delivered the infamous directive: “None is too many”. Only 5,000 Jewish refugees were permitted into Canada during the entire Nazi regime.

The horror of the Holocaust temporarily shamed the Western world into silence, driving its deep-seated antisemitism underground. However, the events following October 7 have shattered that veneer. The contemporary progressive left has effectively legitimized anti-Zionism as a modern wrapper for classic Jew-hatred, demonstrating beyond doubt that anti-Zionism is simply antisemitism adapted for the current year.

The University Intifada: From Weimar to the Ivy League Billion-Dollar Compromise

The terrifying spectacle of radical students taking to the streets and targeting Jewish peers is a direct echo of the Weimar Republic’s collapse. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, German universities were not bastions of liberal tolerance; they were the primary breeding grounds for Nazi radicalism. Long before the general public capitulated, the National Socialist German Students’ League took over student governments, rioted in the streets, intimidated Jewish professors, and initiated the infamous 1933 book burnings.

Today, institutions like Columbia University and Harvard University have weaponized that exact same academic intimidation. The moral abdication of elite academia was laid bare during the historic U.S. Congressional Hearings on Campus Antisemitism. When explicitly pressed by lawmakers on whether “calling for the genocide of Jews” violated university codes of conduct, the presidents of Harvard, Penn, and MIT delivered parsed, legalistic refutations, infamously testifying that such genocidal rhetoric was “context-dependent.”

This systemic rot is fueled by a massive, covert influx of foreign capital. Decades of investigative research by organizations like the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP) have uncovered billions of dollars in undisclosed foreign funding flowing directly into Ivy League and elite American coffers from autocratic regimes, most notably Qatar.

The U.S. Department of Education’s enforcement of Section 117 of the Higher Education Act previously exposed massive systematic underreporting. Investigations revealed that institutions like Cornell, Harvard, and Northwestern failed to properly report staggering sums—with Cornell facing disclosures exceeding $3.3 billion in Qatari funding and Northwestern uncovered using Qatar Foundation talking points to actively police public messaging following the October 7 massacre. By embedding themselves in multi-billion dollar dependencies with regimes that harbor and finance Islamist terror networks, these universities contractually traded their moral integrity. They effectively sold out the safety, well-being, and academic freedom of their Jewish student bodies in exchange for institutional wealth.

The Repetition of History: The Modern Red-Green Alliance

The current axis of progressives marching in open defense of Islamist entities is a repetition of historical patterns. Before 1948, the self-proclaimed progressive, anti-imperialist left frequently flirted with or surrendered to totalitarian forces. This was evident in Neville Chamberlain’s appeasement policies, Franklin D. Roosevelt’s initial isolationist inaction regarding the refugee crisis, and the Soviet Union’s direct, cynical alliance with Hitler via the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact—which stood firm until the German army directly turned its war machine eastward.

The progressives of yesterday are the same wolves dressed in different sheep’s clothing today.

This historical axis has mutated into what political scientists label the “Red-Green Alliance”—the de facto coalition of neo-Marxist progressives (“Red”) and anti-Western Islamists (“Green”). Despite the fundamental contradictions between progressive social agendas and rigid Islamist legalism, these two forces are fiercely united by a singular, common denominator: a mutual desire to tear down Western civilization, eliminate private property, and destroy the Jewish state.

The Paradox of Agency: The Incentive to Be a Loser

The modern progressive infrastructure runs entirely on a toxic victim narrative, creating a perverse societal incentive to be a “loser.”

In the intersectional matrix, maximum moral authority is granted to those who claim the highest degree of victimhood and grievance. This framework demands that individuals point their fingers outward, blaming external “systemic” structures for every personal or collective failure.

How do Jews win in such a system? 

Renowned economist and social theorist Thomas Sowell famously cut straight to the core of this paradox. When asked by an official of a Jewish organization what Jews could do to minimize the hostility they face, Sowell gave a blunt, one-word answer: “Fail.” He explained, “Because as long as you succeed you’re going to be hated.”

Because Jews have historically rejected the victim narrative, choosing instead to survive, rebuild, and thrive under the most brutal conditions, the collectivist left views their success as an unforgivable sin. The paradox of the Torah and individual agency is that it mandates the exact opposite of modern grievance culture. The Torah commands Jews to look inward.

This radical internal audit is structurally woven into the foundational texts of Judaism. While collectivism demands an external scapegoat, the Torah establishes localized, internal responsibility:

The Genesis Blueprint: When Adam sins in the Garden of Genesis, God does not offer a systemic critique; He asks a sharp, individual question: “Ayeka?”—”Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9). Adam’s failure begins when he points his finger outward at Eve, rejecting his own sovereign agency.

The Liturgical Duty: The core of Jewish spiritual growth is Teshuvah (literally, “return” or repentance), a process completely dependent on looking inward. As outlined in biblical frameworks and codified by classical Jewish sages, a person cannot rectify the world (Tikkun Olam) by aggressively micro-managing the behavior of their neighbor; they must first assume radical, rigorous responsibility for the moral architecture of their own soul.

While the collectivist world demands a finger pointed outward to fuel tribal resentment, the Jewish paradigm relies on the sovereign individual looking inward to initiate genuine moral progress.

The Invention of Conscience: Why They Hate the Jews

The ultimate irony of these collectivist systems—Nazism, Marxism, Islamism, and progressive leftism—is their desperate reliance on the very Jewish foundations they seek to destroy. Monotheism relies wholly on Judaism; while Judaism stands completely on its own historical meter, Islam and Christianity cannot make that claim. Their theological structures crumble into nothingness without the Hebrew prophets and the Jewish foundations they inherited. Even as the modern world relies daily on Jewish inventions, medical breakthroughs, and scientific milestones, it targets the Jews for annihilation.

Why did Hitler hate the Jews with such demonic intensity? He left no room for ambiguity. As recorded by early associate Hermann Rauschning, Hitler explicitly stated:

“The Ten Commandments have lost their validity… Conscience is a Jewish invention. It is a blemish, like circumcision”.

Hitler further confessed to his inner circle:

“I am freeing men… from the dirty and degrading self-mortifications of a chimera called conscience and morality”.

Hitler recognized that a moral conscience is a deeply individual creation, not a collective one. A person with a conscience evaluates actions based on an objective, divine standard of right and wrong, making them completely immune to state brainwashing. Marxism, Islamism, ancient Christianity’s imperial phases, and modern progressive leftism possess no individual conscience; they operate purely on collective utility.

Judaism acts as the conscience of the masses. By introducing a universal moral code where every single human life is sanctified and every individual is independently accountable to God, Judaism remains the ultimate, eternal roadblock to totalitarian rule.

If Adolf Hitler came back today, he would not wear the swastika; he would adopt the vocabulary of the progressive socialist left. 

He would advocate for the destruction of borders, demand the abolition of individual merit, and utilize cancel culture to silence dissent—knowing that the modern left has successfully built the perfect intellectual infrastructure to finally rid the world of individual agency and the troublesome Jewish conscience once and for all.
