Peloni: Kazakhstan has had a long history of close ties with Israel for many years now, making it joining the Abraham Accords a natural fit. It is important for Israel to find peace with its neighbors, but like the peace which exists for some time now with Kazakhstan, making peace should not come at the costs of security by Israel, nor should it make Israel dependent upon its treaty partners for any aspect of its security. Instead peace should be agreed upon because all parties actually want peace, not because it secures an existential threat around Israel’s neck in the form of preventing the extension of sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. All sides should gain a sense of stability, economic windfalls, and intermingling of societies, otherwise it is all a deception in the form of war by other means. Peace between Israel and Kazakhstan should be the model, not the exception, to how peace in the region is pursued.
