  1. My gut feeling about is that one reason many articulate, educated Jews, down through the ages, slander their own people is that it has nearly always been safe for Jews to criticize their fellow Jews, but very dangerous to criticize the non-Jewish, and often antisemitic authorities in the countries where they lived. The state authorities in many countries, during the two millennia in which there was no Jewish state, were very harsh in punishing Jews who protested the ill-treatment an ddiscrimination against them by the state authorities. There were also harsh penalties for criticize the religious leaders of the of the dominant, state-endorsed religion–whether that religion was Christianity, Islam , Zoroastrianism or some sort of polytheism (for example, the Gods of Rome). Critizing these official state religions themselves were dealt with even more harshly. As a result, Jews who were unhappy with their situation for whatever reason would pick fights with their fellow Jews and say all sorts unpleasant things about them. This was usually safe, because the Gentile authorities rarely intervened in these internal Jewish quarrels. The result was a “tradition” that combined exaggerated deference to Gentile authorities with aggression against one’s fellow Jews. Unfofortunately, this diaspora “tradition” has continued in Israel. “You can take the Jew out of the diaspora, but you can’t take the diaspora out of the Jew.”

    • Adam I totally agree with your point that Jews criticize Jews because it’s safe to do so. I find that the same Leftist Jews who criticized Jews in Europe for not standing up to the nazis, are the same Jews who criticize Israel, Bibi and Trump today. I see many of these same Jews have bought the MSM’s inverted analysis that Gazan’s are starving thanks to Israel. Meanwhile the only people starving there are the remaining hostages.

  2. Excellent commentary by Ari, He hits the nail on the head. Israel’s elites are traitors who libel their own country and brave fellow citizens, thereby giving aid and comfort to antisemites around the world. People in all foreign countries undoubtedly say, “this is what the most prominent Israelis say about their own country, their own people. Surely it must be true. ”

I have often wondered what it is that causes so many Jews, including prominent and influential Jews, to slander their own people and give ideological and moral support to their oppressors. But that is too big a topic to deal with in a comment on a column. However, more books badly need to be written to explain this tragic phenomenon, and to enable the world’s people, both Jews and Gentile, to see through these traitors and their lies.
