Peloni: Al Jolani proposes that Israel return either 1/3 or 2/3 of Golan for peace deal. Israel should counter this offer with a proposal of Syria giving Israel 1/3 of Syria, in deference to the Syrian minorities which Israel is protecting from being annihilated by Jolani’s forces.

1/3 of Syria in could create a commonwealth with Israel.
that would protect the Kurds, Christians, Druze and Alawites.
Later we could sale the Alawites to the Russians.
Who needs the Hollywood antisemites!
Simply put the Golan has been part of Israel longer than it ever was part of Israel. Israel applied its law in 1981.
It is part of Syria. Syria needs a peace treaty with Israel and not the other way around. We do not if we can even trust this country to pull out of the buffer zone we have taken since the fall of Assad. We do not know if this government will last. It does not yet control all of Syria.
The Golan is part of Israel by our laws and we have the power to keep it. It is vital for our security and is a beautiful place. I know I used to live there.
I have a typo in my above comment. The Golan is part of Israel and will stay that way. The 19 years Syria controlled the Golan (1948 to 1967). It used to attack Israeli farmers below.
What about Turkey? A peace treaty with the current Syrian regime without one with its NATO member sponsor which has declared its determination to wipe Israel off the map? Would such a treaty be worth the paper it would be written on?
@Sebastien
Turkey is said to be less than pleased with Al Jolani for its efforts to secure peace with Israel. Syria is believed to have swapped sponsors during Trump’s Mideast Gulf State Tour, from being Turkey’s proxy to being that of MBS. Still, his suit can not displace the fact that Jolani still swims in a swamp of Jihadi characters who fill the halls of power in Syria, all of whom were formerly in the pay of Turkey, til literally just a few weeks ago. Just FYI
@Peloni Thank you. What was your source?

Give the Golan back to Syria?
Why?
It’s peaceful right now.
@John Galt IV Excellent point. Now, can we get Israel to annex California? 😀
Trump will be here for another 36 months. Then what!
May take another 1,000 years for the next “Trump”!
The Muslim countries need to DE-Islamize their masses!!!
Perhaps it’s time to consider getting rid of the country demarcations as they now are, their having been established by the UK (and France and perhaps others). They can thus be renamed as they once were, such as Mesopotamia… This could stimulate rational (?) discussion on the histories of the various areas as they once were.
Renaming Iran as Persia may also be in interesting idea. If Trump can rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, what’s to stop others from doing similar renamings?
Well, Mesopotamia literally means between rivers.
Most of Syria is West of Euphrates and not between the rivers.
Iraq is mostly Mesopotamia.
But we could rename parts of Syria “Aram”. 🙂
As for Persia and Iran, I am not sure if they are exactly the same.
Persian people, the Parsi are only 50% to 60% o Iran.
The others, Azeris, Kurds, Arabs, Baluchis, Gilakis and probably 10 more other nationalities.

Arutz Sheva reports today that IDF troops landed near Damascus for five hours performing an undisclosed mission. Right now, the IDF has unhampered freedom of movement in this unstable, recently defanged region with its Jihadist government that is already killing Druze and other
minorities when it can.
International law and custom does not require nations to return territory seized in a defensive war and formal treaties with defeated enemies tie Israel’s hands.
Remember when the former Jordanian PM, the one who had signed the treaty, said he would invade Israel if Jordan were strong enough? Remember the Island of Peace Massacre? NOTHING happened in the 30 years between Jordan’s defeat and the treaty. What’s Egypt doing? Is the Sinai still demilitarized? Could Oct. 7 have been perpetrated if Sinai was part of Israel?
Will the Abraham Accords even survive the fall of
the Iranian regime?
Who needs this hudna more? What would “peace” look like? How would it benefit Israel? How sustainable would it be?. We’ve seen how the UN won’t lift a finger if a “peace partner” suddenly invades. What happens when President Trump is out of office and there’s a President Mamdani, say? One who was born in the U.S. What happens when Syria has the breathing space to re-arm? Israel destroyed their weapons and now they want a peace with Israel giving concessions, as usual? Isn’t the burden obviously on them to prove they aren’t a threat to Israel or to the peoples who make up the patchwork country called, “Syria?” Including the other half of Israel’s Druze who have pleaded for Israel’s protection? Withdraw it? No. Unthinkable. And not just for humanitarian reasons. The Druze are the one firmly loyal Israeli Arab constituency who even serve in the IDF.
I would start off by negotiating for ALL of Syria, then apportion each defined section of the country to each of the endangered minorities.
@Peloni Except upon reconsideration, since negotiation is, after all the art of compromise, Israel should demand 3/4 of Syria and then after some back and forth should graciously consider compromising on only taking half or a third or whatever.
@Peloni Seriously!
No, no!
Syria is already 9 times bigger than Israel.
@Vivarto I ask you is that fair, is that proportional? 😀
