Peloni & David Fieldstone
In his Saturday, March 15 show: Mark’s opening segment focused on what should be understood to be the central strategic challenges which are facing America in its conflict with Iran. He explains directly with no courtesy – this is not only a contest vs. the external enemies in Iran, but also with the internal political opposition – which is actively attempting to undermine the war effort which is required for US security.
Mark’s core thesis: is that there is a long-time internecine war ongoing in the USA between the Conservatives and the Liberals – with the latter actively betraying the country in a time of war with Iran, despite the American public broadly supporting the defeat of Iran. Indeed, the Democratic leaders, left-wing activists, and parts of the media – are highly focused on weakening said U.S. resolve – by raising challenges of legality, strategy, and costs relating to the conflict. He notes that these criticisms, which discourage national unity, are being leveraged as political sabotage rather than legitimate debate. Simultaneously, these attempts to undermine American solidarity serve to embolden all of America’s foreign adversaries, prolong the conflict and undermine US victory. To illustrate the hypocrisy in the arguments now being raised against Trump’s Iran policy, Mark contrasts current Democratic opposition with Chuck Schumer’s 2012 statement – in supporting a hard line against Iran – revealing the party’s shifting position being based upon internal political advantage, rather than earnest intellectual arguments.
Mark also addresses: his concerns with Iran itself. He explains that the Iranian regime is a longstanding sponsor of terrorism – which has pursued nuclear weapons while deceiving international negotiators during the debate over the JCPOA negotiations. Furthermore – Mark draws on arguments previously raised by Joe Lieberman. He raises the issue of Iran’s operational ties with al-Qaeda – & also its having facilitated attacks on Americans, including links cited in discussions of the September 11 attacks – as well as other terrorist operations.
Mark also makes the connection: between the foreign conflict with Iran and domestic policy disputes. He notes that the budgetary tactics being pursued by the Democratic Party are tied to immigration enforcement – which Party has effectively defunded or disrupted key security agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, the Transportation Security Administration, the United States Coast Guard, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the United States Secret Service – thereby weakening homeland security during a period in which the nation is actively at war with a foreign power which will soon be able to send nukes to the USA , unless it is stopped.
To close his peroration: Mark links immigration policy, rising antisemitism, and domestic terrorism to the broader geopolitical struggle. He highlights that open-border policies have allowed potential extremists to enter the country – and that ideological movements—Islamist, Marxist, and the fringe right-wing groups—are fueling anti-American and anti-Jewish sentiment. In his view, these internal dynamics erode national cohesion – and reduce the country’s ability to confront adversaries such as Iran and its proxies. His anger was the background.
In his second segment, Mark talks with John Spencer, a foremost expert on modern urban warfare. Spencer supports Marks comments, but goes further – explaining in detail – that Israel’s participation in its partnership with the US actually acts as a force magnifier of American capabilities, thus making the US an even great superpower. He also suggest the significance of this reality is intentionally ignored by the voices challenging any benefit from the US-Israeli alliance, led by the Democratic Party – which wants internal hegemony in the USA.
In Mark’s third segment: he talks with Julian Epstein – who provides a chastening rebuke of his own party’s efforts to undermine America in the current war – as it addresses an obvious existential threat to the American people. Epstein makes an important point that the Democrats, while opposing Trump’s Iran policy, have never had an answer for how to deal with Iran, as they embarked on alternatively trying to appease and ignore the threat raised by Iran against the US. Similar to Mark’s arguments earlier in the show, Epstein argues that the Democrats are pursuing policies of reflectional opposition in simply opposing Trump’s policy, because it is Trump’s policy, but with increasing relevance than this, he also sees the Democratic opposition being based on increasing radicalization within the party.
