‘Ceasefire’: Trump hails peace in Middle East as Iran rains missiles upon Israel

Peloni:  Trump Blinks Bigly!  Trump’s call for Iran’s unconditional surrender turns into negotiations based on a  plan which calls for a US surrender and full retreat from the region.  This humiliating reversal will undermine US influence in the region, while leaving US allies in an unenviable position of having American resolve to support them instantaneously crumble… or is there more going on than we are acknowledging.  In fact, none of this makes sense if we ignore the recent report of Iran’s threat to use chemical weapons which would devastate the region, while grasping the implications of this report in the hours before Trump’s reversal might explain a great deal.  Indeed, accepting the 10-Point Plan would in fact be a hudna, but might it not be one of Trump’s own making while buying time to either reconsider the situation under this latest escalation.

Note that the Iranians are browbeating their chests while Trump is backpedaling.  Some are suggesting that this is the product of Trump’s bravado and lack of resolve.  Yet, this makes little sense, as Trump could easily have chosen any number of alternate scenarios while seeking an offramp from the war.  Accepting the Iranian backed proposal of American surrender, followed by Iran’s demonstration of its willingness to press on with the war, supports the conclusion that Iran has more then an energy crisis to back its evident current state of leverage over the US.  The simple reality is that when one finds that they are caught in a trap, inevitably, the only way out is to spring the trap.  It would appear that Trump is taking a pause to consider his options before choosing to either spring this current trap or to remain caught in it indefinitely… And the two-week window for ‘negotiations’ based on a US-surrender proposal would form the basis under which he gained this time.

Trump is once again hailing the dawn of peace in the Middle East:

The Islamic Republic of Iran celebrated the ceasefire by immediately breaking it:

The government of Israel says it supports the ceasefire but only if it is real, which it obviously isn’t:

The Iranian Islamic regime is presenting the agreement as an American surrender and acceptance of its nuclear program:

The Trump administration still declares that it will put pressure upon the Islamic Republic of Iran:

These demands, however, are hollow. Without military action, which Trump will become progressively less likely to resort to as the midterms approach, the U.S. has no leverage.

If the Islamic Republic of Iran remains in power, it will build up its strength again and then resume its jihad against Israel and the U.S. That’s one of the only two reasons truces are allowed in Islamic law: one is if the Infidel enemy converts to Islam, which is not in play here, and the other is if the enemy is winning, so as to give the warriors of jihad time to regroup and then fight again more effectively. The Trump administration, like so many others before it, should have studied Islam and realized that the Islamic Republic is serious about Islam above all. Then it would have known that when the Islamic Republic’s leaders showed a willingness to conclude a ceasefire, they were tacitly admitting that they were losing. It was time to press forward to final victory, not to stop fighting. And so another opportunity to rid the world of a jihad threat is lost, another chimera of peace is announced, and the jihadis will rejoice that they have survived to fight another day, as yet another Western government has kicked the can down the road instead of defeating them.

  1. When Trump declares that there is a ceasefire between Iran and the US and Israel but the Iranians continue to fire missiles at Israel, then they are breaking the ceasefire.
There are no excuses along the lines of some minor officer not getting the memo or whatever.
There can only be one response: the promised total destruction must proceed. If Israel is left to go it alone, there may be consequences that the neighbors on the gulf will not appreciate. In this case, the EU might join in to forcefully coerce Israel to cease and desist. Actually, we gave been waiting for this particular EU participation for quite a while now.

  2. Yes, it’s a hudna – a pause, not an absolute ceasefire. And maybe Trump does want it in order to consider his long-term moves. I certainly hope so, otherwise we may be looking at another premature stoppage as happened in Gaza – and that certainly isn’t working out well for Israel. And Trump should allow the IDF full range of retaliations as Israel is still being bombarded by Iran. I can’t see this as a good move, but I’ll keep praying.
