PELONI: The arguments about the need for AI dominance in the US consistently evades the need to address those who will be in control of the AI in the US. Recalling that those who control the AI infrastructure in the US will control the future seems as much of discussion as the need to maintain US dominance in this vital field over China.

China remains behind the United States in the race to dominate artificial intelligence, and Washington cannot afford to slow development as Beijing works to close the gap, China expert Gordon Chang told Newsmax on Tuesday.
“Whoever wins AI wins the 21st century,” Chang, a senior fellow at the Pacific Research Institute, said on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America.” “And don’t let anyone tell you that the Chinese are there and ahead of us, because they’re not.”
Chang said China’s most advanced AI models are approaching the capabilities of U.S. models, but the United States retains advantages in semiconductor design and computing infrastructure.
“We are far ahead of China on the design of chips, which is absolutely critical for AI,” Chang said. “And also, we’re far ahead in compute.”
