Let’s start with a look at this astute analysis which, to my pleasant surprise, agrees with my own assessment, having researched this overall topic for over half century.
My work on the struggle of the Kurdish people for their own fair share of the justice pie has been featured on the recommended reference list of Paris’s acclaimed Institut d’etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) since 1982 and can be found in dozens of other universities and other institutions of higher education all over the globe—Georgetown, Cornell, Kobe University, American University of Beirut, Penn State, Bethlehem University, the main library system of the Abraham Accords’s United Arab Emirates, NYU, UF, Wesleyan, UC-Irvine, Tel Aviv University, and so forth.
The first part of the Foreword of my forever timely book, http://q4j-middle-east.com is penned by the President of the Kurdistan National Assembly of Syria…

Unfortunately, we’re repeating the same mistake we’re making in Syrian Kurdistan, leaving our 43 million truly stateless, loyal Kurdish and their Yazidi cousins at the mercy of genocidal Arab jihadi oppressors, who, along with the Turks, have slaughtered and gassed to death over 350,000 of these people for 3/4 century now….

Professor Ismet Cherif Vanly’s book’s title needs no further explanation: “The Syrian (Arab) ‘Mein Kampf’ Against the Kurds.”
Unbelievably, America has a long history of using and abusing its best friends and allies in the region besides Israel.
TNYT Pulitzer Prize winning columnist, William Safire and Daniel Schorr wrote stinging op-eds about this betrayal and sellout decades ago during the era of the Iran-Iraq War of the ‘80s ànd Gulf Wars later, when a particularly callous Secretary of State, Henry Machiavelli von Bismarck, joked at their slaughter. He did a similar number on Israel in the October 1973 Yom Kippur War when he deliberately withheld needed resupplying arms for almost two weeks while combined Arab aggressors were being resupplied by the USSR, etc…
Reversing Kissinger, Realpolitik, and Henry Machiavelli von Bismarck
Instead of withdrawing from this important, unstable region, America needs to reinforce its position in the Kurdish areas instead.
These folks have never attacked or terrorized us, have lost numerous thousands of fighters fighting our same ISIS, al-Qaida, and similar enemies, and actually like us despite our past minimum support (while supplying their Arab and Turk oppressors with heavy armaments and warplanes), etc.
President Trump’s former great Secretary of State Mike Pompeo wrote a column about this which should be required reading…
The Kurds deserve better — how the US can support an ally’s bid for freedom
With the war involving the Arabized/Islamistized mullahs who’ve hijacked àn ancient, proud Iranian people still not coming anywhere near the total victory and unconditional surrender President Trump had set as a goal, it’s unfortunately a likelihood that the mullahs will still be terrorizing their own people, Israel, many of their neighbors, and a constant menace to much of the rest of the world long after The Donald exists the White House.
The naval blockade will likely vanish soon afterwards, and billions of dollars in oil money will resume pouring in to replenish the mullahs ambitions on multiple fronts—including rearming and supplying its like-minded genocidal proxies in Hamas, Hizbullah, the Houthis, and others as well.
This makes the value of 43 million loyal Kurdish friends and proven fighters all the more valuable for American interests and the cause of peace and security in the region as a whole.
Instead of celebrating withdrawal from traditional Kurdish homelands in Syria and Iraq which belonged to them for thousands of years before an invading Arab or Turk arrived, America should be digging in, training Kurdish jet and helicopter pilots, tank battalions, complete with sufficient anti-aircraft missile batteries, and so forth to be serve as a permanent counterweight to the rampant instability that part of the world has constantly known for over half century.
Why can America choose a black African slaver, Hamas butcher supporting autocratic Arab oil potentate nation like Qatar to establish a major base in, but not Kurdistan?
Think about what àn independent or, at the very least, highly autonomous, Kurdistan, together with Israel, India, an autonomous Druze region, a Lebanon freed from both Syrian clutches and Iran’s murderous proxy, Hizbullah, and reinforced friendly Arab militaries in Abraham Accords members like the United Arab Emirates could do to help balance this situation.
India should be weaned off of Iranian oil as much as possible, in this scenario.
Both Iraq and Syria have been described as artificial states, like the former Yugoslavia of the Middle East, in need of absolute autocrats to try to keep the many different ethnic groups from fighting each other.
When Tito died, Yugoslavia broke apart along ethnic lines.
It can’t be repeated too often that Kurds were indeed promised independence after WWI, and only a collusion of British petroleum politics and Arab nationalism nipped it in the bud.
The forced incorporation of Kurdish fighters into the Syrian Arab army is a nightmare in the making, another
result of President Trump supporting a former al-Qaida/ISIS leader wolf in sheep’s clothing as Syria’s new leader.
Thousands of Kurds, Druze, Assyrian and Chaldean Christians, and others have been slaughtered by both his forces and supporters.
The same holds true in Iraq now…Peace for the moment—at the expense of basic human rights for others who are not Arab or of the same religious sect.
Why the continuous demand for almost two dozen states for ARABISM (including one on almost 80 % of the original 1920 Mandate of Palestine lopped off in 1922 and known as Jordan today), while 43 million Kurds and their Yazidi cousins, frequent victims of both Turks and Arabs (and Iranians too) are being told they’re not worthy of even one independent nation on ancestral homelands thousands of years old?
It is time to correct a horrible travesty of justice.
