America should listen to Mark Levin

Peloni:  Mark Levin has been one of the most stalwart advocates of reason and honesty over the past several years relating to the Middle East, and he has maintained a constant position amid changing US policies which ignore him and shifts in public criticisms meant to silence him. Mark has become a focus of poised resolve to understand what is right and to champion that position despite all forces which might rise against him for doing so, be they friend or foe, foreign or domestic, politicians or simply fake-right podcasters.  It has been in inspiration to see so much courage in an age in which personal opportunism has been the wind which catches too many sails.  Cookie Schwaeber-Issan really captures all that might be said on Mark’s frank and honest battle to guide and critique US policy, and I heartedly congratulate and thank her for doing so.

Which is worse for Israel – an Iran takeover or a US takeover? While the question may sound absurd, on its face, both scenarios, involving a takeover of Israel by the U.S. or Iran, equally result in an existential threat to the Jewish homeland.

Here’s why. An Iranian takeover would only happen once they are able to overpower Israel through possessing nuclear weapons. At that point, they would have the clout to demand total allegiance to Islam or threaten the Jewish people with sure extinction.

If that seems to be the worst of all possibilities, think about the meaning of a U.S. takeover. Whether Israel is denied help, in the form of weapons’ acquisitions, the imposition of sanctions, or being told we are forbidden to continue their fight, the enemy will have a clear advantage to defeat us. Because if we must secure permission to finish a war that has to be fought, Israel is, essentially, no longer the master of her fate.

Both positions have the potential of irretrievably harming our country, and that is why Israel must never be in a situation where others dictate to her what she can and can’t do.

At the moment, ironically, our greatest impediment is coming from the U.S. who, in their quest to avoid an all-out war, is doing everything they can to tie our hands, keeping us from achieving a decisive military win!

Vice President J.D. Vance’s first course of business, in spearheading a negotiated settlement to end the conflict between Iran, the U.S., Israel and Gulf States, has been to diffuse every outlet from seeking escalation or retaliation.

In other words, his goal is to remove any perceived threat on the part of the Iranian regime, to get them to the negotiating table and participate in an effort for peace.

If that means leaning hard on Israel, Vance has no problem stepping into the role of the disciplining father, because the last thing he wants to do is let down his boss.

In fact, he probably sees this as his watershed moment, where this mission could end up being the critical make or break event that either catapults him into a serious 2028 presidential hopeful or, conversely, sends him into political obscurity.

That is why he has used blunt language, reprimanding Israel for being unhelpful in achieving the Middle East peace he believes is attainable.

After what was referred to as a veiled threat by Vance, to end American support for Israel, Fox broadcaster, Mark Levin had his own harsh words for the U.S. administration, posted on Instagram:

“I want to say to people in and out of the administration, stop trashing, smearing and bullying the little state of Israel. Stop cozying up to and telling us that the enemy regime in Iran is now more rational, more moderate and a regime that we can deal with, when just a few months ago, they slaughtered 50,000 people and they’re still hanging young people today. If they had a nuclear missile today, they’d fire it into our country as sure as I’m alive. I don’t know what’s going on, but if people think they can bully a little country and, really, a people that have existed 4,000 years – through the Babylonians and the Persians, to the Romans and the Third Reich, into surrendering their defense and decision on how to secure their country, they’ve got another thing coming. I think it’s outrageous when we used to see the Secretary of War and the Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff daily here on Fox, tell us of the fantastic marriage symmetry, between our militaries, in defeating this enemy.  I’m really appalled by this, and I hope it comes to an end sooner or later. Because it’s not right, it’s not just and it’s not truthful.’

For a man who has had unfettered access to President Trump and many other individuals, within his administration, it took a great deal of courage to come out and publicly make such a bold and controversial statement, at a time when, according to recent polls, 67% of the American people are against perpetuating the war with Iran.

That’s because all they see is a conflict into which they’ve unwillingly been forced to join, the cost of which has been higher gas prices, with no end in sight. It is that major miscalculation, on their part, that prevents them from seeing the real threat to them personally.

Putting their comfort and wallet ahead of the existential danger, they are missing the reality that they’re the next target. That’s the reason that Levin shouldn’t be dismissed, because when someone takes the great risk of putting their fame, fortune and access to people in high places, on the line, it’s worthwhile listening.

Levin has to know that by sternly warning the administration, with whom he has been so closely aligned, up until now, has the possibility of hurting his name and reputation. But he has done it anyway.

For those who attribute his bravery to the fact that he is a Jew, they should realize that he has chosen to live in America and not Israel, something he could have easily changed. Levin is merely standing up for what he believes to be the right and just thing – allowing Israel to fight a battle to the finish, without reservation or condition imposed upon them.

He knows that Israel, as well as any nation that chooses democracy as its pattern for governance, cannot be under the thumb of a government which places political interests above all else.

Levin also, as most people who rely upon common sense and patterns of the past, to judge the plausible expected actions of others, knows that Iran cannot be trusted or relied upon to keep their word or honor any agreements they make.

Therefore, he sees no reason to use positive spin or put a nice face on what, by every metric, appears to be a doomed deal from the outset. As a student of history, Levin knows that a cruel and barbaric leadership, which systematically murders their own people, will not voluntarily end their oppressive rule.

His message is plain and simple. Israel must be free to defend itself in a fight that is only getting started against all of humanity. It should not be hindered from doing that, especially by a nation that claims to love liberty and freedom!
