Leaders across America whose organizations represent literally millions of people have told the nation of Israel, much like the wizard told Dorothy in Oz, “don’t listen to that man behind the curtain,” or in the current case, don’t listen to the man in the White House.
The message to Israel was in a full-page newspaper ad published today in Jerusalem by a coalition of American organizations coming together under the slogan “Israel, You’re Not Alone.
“WE STAND WITH YOU,” the Jerusalem Post ad states. “Mr. Prime Minister, you are not alone! Millions of Americans stand with you and Israel and we welcome you on your upcoming visit to the United States of America.”
The ad is signed by dozens of leaders of major Christian and other organizations including Tim Wildman of American Family Association, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, now of Family Talk, Gen. William G. “Jerry” Boykin of Kingdom Warriors, Bill McCartney of Promise Keepers, Judge Roy Moore of the Foundation for Moral Law, Jimmy Draper of LifeWay Christian Resources, Rev. Rob Schenck of National Clergy Council, Dick and Rich Bott of Bott Radio Network and Jane Hansen-Hoyt of Aglow International.

The message of the ad, which appeared one day earlier in the Wall Street Journal, isn’t complicated:
“We, the undersigned, encourage President Obama, the State Department, the Congress, and the whole of the United States of America to stand unwaveringly with Israel, without further sacrificing Israel’s sovereignty, safety, or security.”
It asserts that the United Nations “Peace Plan” actually is “not a plan for peace at all, but would ethnically cleanse 400,000 Jews from their homes and lands. No foreign country or U.N. resolution has the right to decide a nation’s borders.”
“We must stand with Israel at this critical time,” said Mike Gottfriend of Team Focus, one of the originators of the idea. “We are thrilled that more than 50 Christian and Jewish leaders, who represent millions of Americans, have joined the ad and the effort.”
Gottfriend is a former ESPN sports commentator and head coach in Cinncinnati, Kansas and Pittsburgh. A news conference on the issue is set Monday at 1 p.m. Eastern time at the National Press Club with many of the leaders. Gottfriend said members of Congress need to oppose Obama’s remarks “immediately.” His plan, Gottfried said, would not only divide Jerusalem and the nation of Israel but make America’s strongest ally in the region nearly indefensible.
“Who are we to change Israel’s borders,” asked Janet Porter, president of Faith2Action. “We must stand with Israel like never before.”

Porter told WND the ad is a response to Obama’s “assault” on Israel.
Based on biblical references to the Jewish nation as the “apple of God’s eye,” she said, “I believe that to follow what the president would want puts both countries in peril.”
She said the Palestinians from whom Obama is trying to obtain favor “do not recognize the right [of Israel] to exist. They despise her.”
Even on a secular plane, without references to the biblical prophecies regarding Israel, she said, “No foreign country or U.N. resolution has a right to decide a nation’s borders. In America, if we can tell Israel its borders, what keeps Dearborn from a U.N. resolution announcing ‘Dearbornistan. It’s absurd.”
The newspaper ad said:
We stand with your right to secure Israel’s borders without giving away additional land to your openly avowed enemies who do not recognize your right to exist. We recognize that former “land for peace” agreements such as the Gaza withdrawal that ravaged thousands of families from their homes, only served to increase terrorist attacks from even closer range, killing many innocent men, women, and children.
We recognize that the United Nations “peace plan” is NOT a plan for peace at all, but would ethnically cleanse 400,000 Jews from their homes and lands. No foreign country or U.N. resolution has the right to decide a nation’s borders.
We acknowledge Jerusalem as Israel’s God-ordained undivided capital, knowing that Israel’s sovereignty will protect the holy sites of all faiths, rather than allowing them to come under control of Hamas terrorists who hate Jews and Christians alike.
We honor Israel as our greatest and most trusted friend and ally in the region, and are grateful for the vital intelligence and technological advances that have enhanced our own security. We believe Israel’s ancient prophets who warned of dire consequencs to any nation who would divide your land.

Unfortunately, this book comes up light on two levels: the lack of new insights and the lack of sharp writing spoils the book for me. For example, Menocal provides few new relevations about the role of Moors and Jews in Medieval Spain. Her book also lacks good story telling on the major figures and thought leaders of this 700-year period. I found Menocal’s analysis sharp and able, but sometimes overdone. And like too many academics, Menocal is neither a good storyteller nor writer.
More broadly, the fundamental premise of the book: That Arabs, Jews and Christians lived peacefully under Moorish rule, is more romantic than true. Except for a very brief period of 50 or so years around 900 AD, there was more persecution than tolerance over the 700 year Moorish period. Ask the Jews of Granada that were slaughered in 1066, or the thousands of Christians who were deported by the Almoravid dynasty to Morocco as slaves in 1126. During the same period, it is well known the Berbers of Northern Africa would frequently pillage Spain, robbing Andalusian Arabs and Christians alike. Later, of course, a united Christian Spain would deport the heavily taxed and persecuted Moors in 1492; some authorities report Muslims were forced to leave their children behind as slaves for the Christian Monarchs to work in various trades.
I believe the book’s only bright light is an interesting and original tale about how the enlightened Arabs and Jews of the period translated and preserved some of the world’s best literature and science thought lost after the fall of Rome and Greece. The works of Aristotle, for example, were translated from Greek to Arab, then several hundred years later by the Christian clergy from Arab to Latin and other romance languages.
An alternative book about Islamic and Jewish influences in Andalusia is Richard Fletcher’s “Moorish Spain.” Fletcher is considered by some authorities to be the Bernard Lewis of Islamic Spain and his well-written 1990 book remains the one of best efforts covering that period. Another well-written book, but more detailed effort, is L.P. Harvey’s “Islamic Spain 1250-1500.” A third book, a superior piece of modern travel writing, rich in Moorish and Jewish history, is Gees Nooteboom’s “Roads to Santiago.”
All three of books are widely available, offer an unvarnished overview of Moorish & Sefardic Spain, and are worth consideration for people seeking a non-academic overview of this classic period.
I won’t have time to do research on the Quran for a couple of days, but the Quran is written in classical Arabic, which I believe took final form about the 8th century. To ishy guy, yes I am reading another book, _The Ornament of the World, How Muslims, Jews and Christians Created a Culture of Tolerance in Medieval Spain_ by Maria Rosa Menocal, with a foreward by the great literary critic and author of many books about Judaism, Harold Bloom of Yale, who is the reason I bought the book.

Come on Catarin: muslims have been killing Jews since the time of mohammed. Yes there were times of peace. A few decades here or there where Jews were treated rather acceptably by muslims. But for the most part, through the ages, Jews either lived as dhimmis in muslim countries, or they were subject to being slaughtered from time to time. You might think this era is worse, only because the Israeli Jews today are strong and well armed and can’t be kicked around nearly as easily as in the old days. So the arabs make a big thing out of Jews fighting back and hurting them in retaliation. Then again, in today’s time of instant news, we hear about everything almost as it’s happening. Mohammed died in 632 and the final rendition of the qu’ran was written in 650. 18 years later, not “a couple of hundred years later”. “Mohammed was never in Jerusalem” you say. I have heard that before. Then how could he have ascended to heaven from the Rock upon which the Dome of the Rock is built?

Well, yes, my views about Obama are my opinion. But my writing on Islam is not. Most information I know comes from the Will Durant book. It took Islam a couple hundred years to complete the Quran. We know it was always an imperfect book, because according to Durant, Mohammed had his 12 companions memorize verses for the Quran, to be repeated when the gathering of the grass, twigs, leaves, etc. upon which was written other verses, were collected. One of Mohammed’s companions was killed in a battle with other Arabs, most of whom resisted Islam ferociously, before he could recite his verses, and those verses were forever lost. Mohammed could not have personally known so much about the Jews, but the Muslims had 200 years to piece their arguments against Jews and Christians together.
Muslim tradition that Mohammed rose into heaven from the Dome of the Rock is also a scam. Mohammed died about 50 years before the Dome was completed in 691 CE. Mohammed was never in Jerusalem. Jerusalem is mentioned nowhere in the Quran. Muslim clerics being Muslim clerics, the sky is the limit as to the stories they can make up.
It’s this era’s group of Muslims determined to kill Jews and steal Jerusalem and Israel who are the most dastardly people I know of.

Islam posits that, after having given the Torah to the Jewish people, the God of Israel — which it calls Allah — sent Isa (Jesus) as the Prophet of Christianity in order to correct the doctrinal errors of Judaism, and that He, seeing that Christianity had also fallen into false doctrine, thereafter sent His final Prophet, Mohammed ibn Abdullah, in order to transmit God’s original and perfect Message to Humankind, devoid of the prior errors of both Judaism and Christianity (see Koran, Sura 5 “The Dinner Table” at 44-49). The repository of this Message, the Koran (sometimes spelled: Quran or Qur’an) — authored by Mohammed ibn Abdullah at the behest of the Angel Jibril (Gabriel) — is, by design, the complete and final Scripture of God, thereby superseding, in Revelation, both the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Bible. This is reflected in the Islamic dogma that: “The only true Religion in Allah’s Eyes is Islam. …” (Koran, Sura 3 “The Family of Imran” at 19). It also explains why the Koran states: “No; Abraham in truth was not a Jew, neither a Christian, but he was a Muslim, and one pure in faith. …” (Koran, Sura 3 “The Family of Imran” at 67). Since Allah is the God of Creation, it is He Who spoke to our forefather Abraham. Since God’s Religion is Islam, it is only Islam that He imparted to Abraham, as a result of which Abraham became the first Muslim. Since Abraham was a Muslim, and since Abraham’s Jewish progeny of Seventh Century C.E. Arabia rejected any return to the true and only Religion of God, God’s eternal Promises to, and Covenant with, the descendants of Abraham devolved exclusively upon Abraham’s Arab progeny (through Abraham’s elder son, Ishmael) who accepted Islam as revealed through the pages of the Koran.
The Koran also declares that Allah sequentially created two species of self-aware beings: first, the Jinn and, only afterward, the Humans (“And certainly We created Man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. And the Jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire.” — Koran, Sura 15 “The Rock” at 26-27). The Jinn are not Angels (who lack Free Will), but rather supernatural creatures who use their Free Will to obey or disobey Allah and to tempt Humans to do likewise. (“Say: It has been revealed to me that a band of Jinn listened, and they [the Jinn] said: ‘Surely we have heard a wonderful Koran. Guiding to the Right Way, so we believe in it, and we will not elevate anyone together with our Lord. And He — exalted be the majesty of our Lord — has not taken a Consort, nor a Son. And [yet] the foolish among us used to utter falsehoods against Allah. And we had [previously] thought that Men and Jinn did not utter a lie against Allah. And [moreover] persons from among Men used to seek refuge with persons from among Jinn, but they [the Jinn] caused them [the Men] to increase in wrongdoing. … And some of us are righteous while some of us are not; we are sects following different ways.'” — Koran, Sura 72 “The Jinn” at 1-6; and: “On the Day when He [Allah] shall gather them all together, He [Allah] will say: ‘O assembly of Jinn, you have seduced Mankind in great numbers. …'” — Koran, Sura 6 “The Cattle” at 128; and: “And certainly We have created for Hell many of the Jinn and the Men. …” — Koran, Sura 7 “The Elevated Places” at 179).
Like the Christian Bible, the Koran suffers from many misunderstandings, misquotations and erroneous summarizations of the Hebrew Bible. For example, the Koran:
misidentifies Haman, who was chief minister of Persia’s Emperor in the Purim story, as being a minister of Egypt’s Pharoah in the Exodus story (see Koran, Sura 28 “The Narratives” at 1-42, especially 6, 8 & 38); and
falsely conflates the two righteous spies (i.e., Joshua and Caleb) who advocated conquering the Land of Israel despite the apparent strength of the Canaanite nations then occupying the Land with Moses and his brother (i.e., Moses and Aaron) (see Koran, Sura 5 “The Dinner Table” at 20-26, especially 23 & 25); and
misidentifies Mary, the mother of Jesus, as being the sister of Aaron (i.e., Miriam) (see Koran, Sura 19 “Mary” at 16-34, especially 28); and
accepts, based upon false Christian dogma (stemming from the mistranslation and misunderstanding of Isaiah 7:14), the virgin birth of Jesus (see Koran, Sura 19 “Mary” at 16-34, especially 20-22), although it rejects both the divinity and the divine lineage of Jesus (see Koran, Sura 5 “The Dinner Table” at 17, 72-75 & 116; and see Koran, Sura 9 “The Immunity” at 30-32).
Yet, in declaring Jesus to be a revered Prophet of Islam, Mohammed ibn Abdullah inexplicably ignored the fact that Jesus, per the “New Testament”, had permitted that which Islam — “the only true Religion” — had explicitly prohibited (i.e., Jesus, having “abrogated” the Torah laws of Kashrut, thereby sanctioned the consumption of pig meat, which the Koran explicitly forbids — see Koran, Sura 5 “The Dinner Table” at 3).
In addition, the Koran, while accepting Abraham’s son and heir, Isaac, as a Prophet, nevertheless declares his expelled brother Ishmael to be the greater Prophet and the one through whom God’s Eternal Covenant with Abraham was transmitted to the generations; for, according to Islam, Ishmael — rather than Isaac — was the son whom God ordered Abraham to sacrifice in the Land of Moriah as a test of the Patriarch’s faith. And, consequently, Ishmael was given the high honor of accompanying Abraham to Mecca (located in modern Saudi Arabia) where together they built and dedicated the Kaaba, the holiest shrine in Islam, and where they thereupon implored Allah to create of their descendants a holy nation to whom Allah’s Truth would be revealed (see Koran, Sura 2 “The Cow” at 127-129). This fanciful tale serves as the basis for the annual Hajj pilgrimage to the Kaaba that culminates in the Muslim holiday known as Eid al-Adha (Festival of the Sacrifice).
Moreover, although certain verses of the Koran contain high praise for the Jewish people, such as:
“Children of Israel, remember My Favor which I have bestowed upon you, and that I exalted you above the nations.” — Koran, Sura 2 “The Cow” at 122; and
“Bear in mind the words of Moses to his people. He said: ‘Remember, my people, the favor which Allah has bestowed upon you. He has raised up prophets among you, made you into kings, and given to you that which He has given to no other nation. Enter, my people, the Holy Land which Allah has assigned for you. Do not turn back, or you shall be ruined.'” — Koran, Sura 5 “The Dinner Table” at 20-21; and
“Thereafter We said to the Children of Israel: ‘Dwell securely in the Promised Land, and when the Promise of the Hereafter is near fulfillment, We shall gather you all together.'” — Koran, Sura 17 “The Children of Israel” at 104;
yet other verses viciously attack the Jewish people (and sometimes Christians), such as:
“O Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians as your friends; they are friends of each other. Whoever of you makes them his friends is one of them! God guides not the people of the Evildoers!” — Koran, Sura 5 “The Dinner Table” at 51; and
“… [Jews are] those whom Allah has cursed and with whom He has been angry, [consequently] transforming them into apes and pigs, and [into] those who serve Satan.” — Koran, Sura 5 “The Dinner Table” at 60; and
“You will see many among them [the Jews] competing with each other in sin and wickedness and in practicing that which is unlawful. Evil is what they do. Why do their rabbis and leaders not forbid them to blaspheme and practice that which is unlawful? Evil indeed are their doings. The Jews say, ‘Allah’s Hand is chained.’ May their own hands be chained! May they be cursed for what they say. …” — Koran, Sura 5 “The Dinner Table” at 62-64; and
“You will find that the most implacable of men in their hostility to the faithful [followers of Allah] are the Jews and the pagans; and that the nearest in affection to the faithful [followers of Allah] are those who say: ‘We are Christians.’ …” — Koran, Sura 5 “The Dinner Table” at 82; and
“The Jews say: ‘Ezra is the Son of God.’ The Christians say: ‘The Messiah is the Son of God.’ That is the utterance of their mouths, conforming with the [false doctrines of the] unbelievers before them. God assail them! How they are perverted!” — Koran, Sura 9 “The Immunity” at 30.
Even worse, the Hadith (Islam’s oral tradition which has preserved the extra-Koranic teachings of Mohammed ibn Abdullah as extrapolated from his words and deeds, as narrated by venerated sources), spews forth a cascade of calumnies and incitements against the Jewish people, the most infamous of which is: “The resurrection of the dead will not come until the Muslims will war with the Jews, and the Muslims will kill them; … the trees and rocks will say, ‘O Muslim, O Servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me. Come and kill him.'” (see Hadith compilations of Sahih Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 52, Number 176 as narrated by Abdullah bin Umar, and Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177 as narrated by Abu Huraira).
There is also the well-entrenched Islamic belief that, also during the time of God’s Judgment upon Humankind, Dajjal (the Anti-Christ) will begin to dominate the Earth together with his army of 70,000 Yahud (Jews) until Isa (Jesus) is resurrected and thereafter destroys Dajjal as well as his Jewish minions.
In order to understand this last enigma, namely, the intermingling in the Koran of philo-Jewish and anti-Jewish declarations, a brief history of Mohammed ibn Abdullah’s rise to power is necessary. When Mohammed ibn Abdullah founded Islam and first began to compose the Koran, he publicly preached his new religion in Mecca among the heathen Arab tribes who controlled the city and its ancient pagan place of worship, the Kaaba. The Arabs of Mecca worshipped a pantheon of gods, the foremost of which was Allah. In order to make his new monotheistic religion more palatable to Arab converts, Mohammed ibn Abdullah — while discarding all of the other gods — retained Allah as an object of worship and elevated it to Supreme Deity. At that time, Mecca had a large community of Jewish merchants. Mohammed ibn Abdullah, who learned about the Hebrew Bible and Judaism through his contact with these Jews, unsuccessfully sought to convince them to abandon Judaism and accept Islam as the superior religion. So important did he consider this effort that he initially incorporated into Islam the following requirements based upon Judaism:
1. The original Muslim kibla (direction of prayer) was towards Jerusalem (– this was, and is, the kibla for Jews).
2. Pig meat was prohibited (– this follows Judaism).
3. The tenth day of the first Muslim lunar month was declared a complete fast day (– this was in imitation of Yom Kippur, Judaism’s fast day, which is the tenth day of the seventh lunar month, being however first lunar month after the turn of the Jewish calendar year).
4. Prayers were required three times a day (– the same as in Judaism: Maariv, Shacharit and Mincha).
5. The Muslim Sabbath was decreed to be Saturday (– this was, and is, the day of the Jewish Sabbath).
When the Jews of Arabia (being loyal to the God of Israel and to their forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) still rejected Islam, Mohammed ibn Abdullah felt humiliated and took personal affront; and, when he had built a powerful army, he went to war against them. He first slaughtered the Jews of Medina (then known as Yathrib), to which city he had fled after his expulsion from Mecca by the pagan Quraysh tribe. After returning to, and conquering Mecca, he also destroyed the Jewish community there. The last refuge of the Jews was at Kuraitah, a town near Medina. For 14 days the Jews held out against Mohammed ibn Abdullah and his army. When the Jews were finally defeated, Mohammed ibn Abdullah personally gave the order to massacre them. He then watched as 600 of the assembled Jewish elders were decapitated in the marketplace of Medina. Thereafter, he declared those portions of Arabia under his control to be Judenrein (cleansed of Jews), and he forbade Jews from ever reestablishing residence there. So it has remained until this Day.
However, annihilating the Jews of Arabia was not sufficient for Mohammed ibn Abdullah. In order to remove all former Jewish influences upon Islam he changed the kibla from Jerusalem to Mecca, he converted the complete fast day into a semi-fast month and he moved it from the first to the ninth Muslim lunar month (– this is known as the Fast of Ramadan), he added two additional times for prayer to the original three times for prayer (making prayer five times a day), and he moved the Muslim Sabbath from Saturday to Friday.
The Koranic passages that are complimentary to Jews were written by Mohammed ibn Abdullah during the period that he was trying to entice the Jews of Arabia to convert to Islam, while those which spew hatred of Jews were written by Mohammed ibn Abdullah after he was rebuffed by all but an insignificant number of them.
What does that have to do with your original claim that Mohamed didn’t spew hatred and violence? Put up or shut up. Try not to deflect when you’re caught with your knickers down. 🙂

Au contraire. More money flowed into the treasury when Bill Clinton was President and the $250,000 a year people had no taxcut. Besides, there is only one group left to tax, the people who make just below $250,000 a year or less. Do you think they should have their taxes raised so that the over $250,000 a year don’t have one? Taxes are what gives us this beautiful country with all its infrastructure, universities, schools. etc. and creates the opportunities for citizens’ success. To ishy guy. There are many verses in the Torah that also spew hatred and violence, but I think most Jews must look at them as being the history of how Jews thought at one time, during the ancient times when cultures were brutally beating each other to pulps. That’s how I look at them, as history. A Hasidic Jew told me, after I asked him about if he patted his wife on the shoulder at her time of the month, he could be killed, he said, not as long as the Temple was not rebuilt in Jerusalem.
I believe that many of the verses you quoted were added in after Mohammed’s death, which has corrupted the Quran in my opinion. Like Jews and Christians, most Muslims do not believe that verses in old holy books have to be obeyed. That’s just common sense, isn’t it?
I think we forget just how primitive many people still are today. A Pakistani told me the Taliban is 200 years behind the times. the Arab Palestinians are behind the times, people in rural areas of most countries are behind the times, and some like it that way. My dentist told me the Taliban rarely have tooth decay because they don’t have candy to eat. Maybe this is a way to get back at them, throw candy from helicopters. Qur’an (5:59-60) – This verse begets the infamous belief on the part of some Muslims that Jews are descended from swine and apes, since it says that wicked Jews (at least) were transformed by Allah in the past. (See also 2:64)
Quran (2:191-193) – “And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]…and fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah.” There is a good case to be made that the textual context of this particular passage is defensive war, even if the historical context was not. However, there are also two worrisome pieces to this verse. The first is that the killing of others is authorized in the event of “persecution” (a qualification that is ambiguous at best). The second is that fighting may persist until “religion is for Allah.” The example set by Muhammad is not reassuring.
Quran (2:244) – “Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things.”
Quran (2:216) – “Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.” Not only does this verse establish that violence can be virtuous, but it also contradicts the myth that fighting is intended only in self-defense, since the audience was obviously not under attack at the time. From the Hadith, we know that Muhammad was actually trying to motivate his people into raiding caravans with this verse.
Quran (3:56) – “As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help.”
Quran (3:151) – “Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority”. This speaks directly of polytheists, yet it also includes Christians, since they believe in the Trinity (ie. what Muhammad incorrectly believed to be ‘joining companions to Allah’).
Quran (4:74) – “Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.” The martyrs of Islam are unlike the early Christians, led meekly to the slaughter. These Muslims are killed in battle, as they attempt to inflict death and destruction for the cause of Allah. Here is the theological basis for today’s suicide bombers.
Quran (4:76) – “Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…”
Quran (4:89) – “They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks.”
Quran (4:95) – “Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,-” This passage criticizes “peaceful” Muslims who do not join in the violence, letting them know that they are less worthy in Allah’s eyes. It also demolishes the modern myth that “Jihad” doesn’t mean holy war in the Quran, but rather a spiritual struggle. Not only is the Arabic word used in this passage, but it is clearly not referring to anything spiritual, since the physically disabled are given exemption. (The Hadith reveals the context of the passage to be in response to a blind man’s protest that he is unable to engage in Jihad and this is reflected in other translations of the verse).
Quran (4:104) – “And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain…” Is pursuing an injured and retreating enemy really an act of self-defense?
Quran (5:33) – “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement”
Quran (8:12) – “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them” No reasonable person would interpret this to mean a spiritual struggle.
Quran (8:15) – “O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle, turn not your backs to them. (16)Whoso on that day turneth his back to them, unless maneuvering for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey’s end.”
Quran (8:39) – “And fight with them until there is no more persecution and religion should be only for Allah” From the historical context we know that the “persecution” spoken of here was simply the refusal by the Meccans to allow Muhammad to enter their city and perform the Haj. Other Muslims were able to travel there, just not as an armed group, since Muhammad declared war on Mecca prior to his eviction. The Meccans were also acting in defense of their religion, since it was Muhammad’s intention to destroy their idols and establish Islam by force (which he later did). Hence the critical part of this verse is to fight until “religion is only for Allah.” According to Ibn Ishaq (324), Muhammad justified the violence further by explaining that “Allah must have no rivals.”
Quran (8:57) – “If thou comest on them in the war, deal with them so as to strike fear in those who are behind them, that haply they may remember.”
Quran (8:59-60) – “And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allah’s Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape. Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy.”
Quran (8:65) – “O Prophet, exhort the believers to fight…”
Quran (9:5) – “So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them.” According to this verse, the best way of staying safe from Muslim violence is to convert to Islam. Prayer (salat) and the poor tax (zakat) are among the religions Five Pillars.
Quran (9:14) – “Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace…”
Quran (9:20) – “Those who believe, and have left their homes and striven with their wealth and their lives in Allah’s way are of much greater worth in Allah’s sight. These are they who are triumphant.” The “striving” spoken of here is Jihad.
Quran (9:29) – “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” “People of the Book” refers to Christians and Jews. This was one of the final “revelations” from Allah and it set in motion the tenacious military expansion, in which Muhammad’s companions managed to conquer two-thirds of the Christian world in just the next 100 years. Islam is intended to dominate all other people and faiths.
Quran (9:30) – “And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!”
Quran (9:38-39) – “O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter. Unless ye go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place.” This is a warning to those who refuse to fight, that they will be punished with Hell.
Quran (9:41) – “Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but knew.” See also the verse that follows (9:42) – “If there had been immediate gain (in sight), and the journey easy, they would (all) without doubt have followed thee, but the distance was long, (and weighed) on them” This contradicts the myth that Muslims are to fight only in self-defense, since the wording implies that battle will be waged a long distance from home (in another country and on Christian soil, in this case, according to the historians).
Quran (9:73) – “O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination.” Dehumanizing those who reject Islam, by reminding Muslims that they are merely firewood for Hell, makes it easier to justify slaughter. It also explains why today’s devout Muslims have little regard for those outside the faith.
Quran (9:88) – “But the Messenger, and those who believe with him, strive and fight with their wealth and their persons: for them are (all) good things: and it is they who will prosper.”
Quran (9:111) – “Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Quran: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.”
Quran (9:123) – “O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness.”
Quran (18:65-81) – This parable lays the theological groundwork for honor killings, in which a family member is murdered because they brought shame to the family, either through apostasy or perceived moral indiscretion. The story, which is not found in any Jewish or Christian source, tells of Moses encountering a man with “special knowledge” who does things which don’t seem to make sense on the surface, but are then justified according to later explanation. One such action is to murder a youth for no apparent reason (74). However, the wise man later explains that it was feared that the boy would “grieve” his parents by “disobedience and ingratitude.” He was killed so that Allah could provide them a ‘better’ son.
Quran (21:44) – “We gave the good things of this life to these men and their fathers until the period grew long for them; See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? Is it then they who will win?”
Quran (25:52) – “Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness…” “Strive against” is Jihad – obviously not in the personal context. It’s also significant to point out that this is a Meccan verse.
Quran (33:60-62) – “If the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease, and the alarmists in the city do not cease, We verily shall urge thee on against them, then they will be your neighbors in it but a little while. Accursed, they will be seized wherever found and slain with a (fierce) slaughter.” This passage sanctions the slaughter (rendered “merciless” and “horrible murder” in other translations) against three groups: Hypocrites (Muslims who refuse to “fight in the way of Allah” (3:167) and hence don’t act as Muslims should), those with “diseased hearts” (which include Jews and Christians 5:51-52), and “alarmists” or “agitators who include those who merely speak out against Islam, according to Muhammad’s biographers. It is worth noting that the victims are to be sought out by Muslims, which is what today’s terrorists do. If this passage is meant merely to apply to the city of Medina, then it is unclear why it is included in Allah’s eternal word to Muslim generations.
Quran (47:3-4) – “Those who reject Allah follow vanities, while those who believe follow the truth from their lord. Thus does Allah set forth form men their lessons by similtudes. Therefore when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners,” Those who reject Allah are to be subdued in battle. The verse goes on to say the only reason Allah doesn’t do the dirty work himself is in order to to test the faithfulness of Muslims. Those who kill pass the test. “But if it had been Allah’s Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost.”
Quran (47:35) – “Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost (Shakir: “have the upper hand”) for Allah is with you,” This very important verse asserts that the Religion of Peace is not to grant peace to the broader society until Islamic rule has been established.
Quran (48:17) – “There is no blame for the blind, nor is there blame for the lame, nor is there blame for the sick (that they go not forth to war). And whoso obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow; and whoso turneth back, him will He punish with a painful doom.” Contemporary apologists sometimes claim that Jihad means ‘spiritual struggle.’ Is so, then why are the blind, lame and sick exempted?
Quran (48:29) – “Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves” Islam is not about treating everyone equally. There are two very distinct standards that are applied based on religious status.
Quran (61:4) – “Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way” Religion of Peace, indeed! This is followed by (61:9): “He it is who has sent His Messenger (Mohammed) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam) to make it victorious over all religions even though the infidels may resist.”
Quran (61:10-12) – “O ye who believe! Shall I lead you to a bargain that will save you from a grievous Penalty?- That ye believe in Allah and His Messenger, and that ye strive (your utmost) in the Cause of Allah, with your property and your persons: That will be best for you, if ye but knew! He will forgive you your sins, and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, and to beautiful mansions in Gardens of Eternity.” This verse was given in battle. It uses the Arabic word, Jihad.
Quran (66:9) – “O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern with them. Hell will be their home, a hapless journey’s end.” The root word of “Jihad” is used again here. The context is clearly holy war, and the scope of violence is broadened to include “hypocrites” – those who call themselves Muslims but do not act as such.
The Saudi’s are paying millions a year (maybe much more) to spread the Wahhabi version of Islam around the world. The Saudi people have nothing to say about sending them out or kicking them out. They are financed by the Royal family as a sop to the people so they can stay in power. Maybe Jeremiah Wright didn’t act up for years. As closely as Obama guarded his reputation, he would have left that church long ago if Wright had done that. After his parents’ divorce (his father, being black, came from Kenya), Obama’s mother wedded an Indonesian student. Of course, Indonesia is a blatant Muslim country. According to US Intelligence, the nation is composed of primarily Muslim schools that teach legalistic Islam — Wahhabbi.
That particular segment of Islam is especially harsh, Koran-abiding, and following the law of the cult to the nth degree. The Wahhabbi proclaims that non-Muslims have no rights, should not exist, and Islamics should particularly hate Jews.
The schools receive moneys from Saudi Arabia that in kind is laden with Wahhabbi Muslims.
When understanding that this was Obama’s childhood teaching, one then can understand how he could live twenty years with a screaming, anti-American mentor such as Jeremiah Wright. Wright was preaching exactly what Obama believed as a closet Muslim.

Those terrible Republicans are the only thing standing between the President’s wild spending sprees and America going down the tubes. A country cannot prosper by raising it’s taxes, it prospers by cutting it’s expenditures. But you go ahead and vote for him anyway next time around.
Obama was not raised a Muslim. As I understand it, his father wasn’t around during his childhood. The father had gone back east to study at Harvard and from there returned to Kenya. Obama’s mother and grandparents raised him as a Christian.
Yes, I still support Obama. He is my president and I look at several issues. Take cutting the budget deficit, for example. The Republicans are pillorying him because of his stance against cutting social programs. Yet for all the noise Republicans make about Obama not cutting these, it is the Republicans who are fighting against a tax increase for those making over $250,000 a year (that’s over $20,000 a month–how much fun would that be?!). It’s the Republicans who refused to cut subsidies to oil companies, who are having the most prosperous year in their history. The oil companies say But we need those billions of dollars to help us in exploring for more oil… There are more examples. Their position is cuts to senior citizens and the Middle class and poor. This Republican bunch is the most _immature_ unstatesman-like bunch in U.S. histiry. They don’t care about running the country. They care about enriching the richest, which many of them are.
Say oil will have a 200 year cycle. I think we are in the part that is winding down. Too bad, Arabs.

I am so proud of Prime Minister Netanyahu. Jeruselum and especially the Old City under the stewardship of Israel is open for all people of all religions to come in peace to the font of all Western Religions. The lie of the land means the eastern ring of apartment buildings outside of Jeruselum must be part of Israel. Before the Israelis built them there was essentially unsettled land east of Jeruselum. Jeruselum sits on top of a mountain high above the surrounding land and thus must be united as Israel’s Capital. The great grandchildren of former Arab residents of Pre-Israel Palestine should find a home and life in any of the other 20 plus Arab countries.

Thank you to this coalition for your unwavering support of Israel and the Jewish People. You must assume the lead in this, because among our own people here are great divisions. Some of our own well meaning people view our sworn enemies as a minority, and are quick to blame Israel. This is not new. Before Hitler rolled through Europe many Jews would sit in cafes, and explain him away too. It is difficult to believe that our peoples history has been riddled wih ant-semitism, pogroms, wholesale slaughters. One thing is true. Throughout history those who cursed the Jews became. Ursed and thise who blessed the Jews were blessed. Those who rose up against Jews disappeared or never recovered, yet the Jews are still here. There is no logic to this.
One thing I ask. To the Christian commnity – please organize a fund to go to the IDF to eliminate our dependence on the U.S.. If every Christian pledged $10 per year per person, it would eliminate our need for U.S. Support. Thank you and God Bless you.
Obama should decide who is his boss, the king of Saudi Arabia to whom he crawling to, or the American people, his words are the plans that Saudi Arabia made for Israel.And I thought that he has brains and intelligence, sadly he just proved otherwise.

And as far as the U.N. goes I think Israel should wait until Russia returns the Kuriles; China leaves Tibet; France leaves the Rhine valley; the Albanians get the hell out of Kosovo; Spain leaves the Basque lands and Turkey returns the parts of Armenia it conquered. Obama cannot be trusted for a minute and is a serial liar. The only promises he will keep is that the cost of energy will be sky high at the end of his term and no one will recognize the USA when he leaves.
Dreaming of putting out the same kind of full page ad here in South Africa too. Don’t have the finances and it will take some time to get the names of all the pro-Israel guys, but we would like to send the same message out to our own anti-Israel government. Israel and Israeli’s must know that they are not alone. I sense that the tide is beginning to turn, especially when the Israeli government itself is beginning to send out clear and unequivocal messages to the world and it’s leaders that Jerusalem is not up for division anytime. God is not about to allow it ever, of that we are more certain than anything

I have always stood with Israel, and always shall. I sympathize with Mr. Netanyahu. The heavy-handed contempt Obama displayed is reminiscent of the SS guards at the concentration camps of Buchenwald, Auschwitz, et al toward the “untermensch” (lower species, not people) prisoners. I don’t appreciate that attitude. If Obama wants Israel to return to 1967 borders, why doesn’t he agree that the U.S. should give up all the territory won from Mexico? How about returning Alaska to its previous owner? If you want to go all the way, native Americans (the Cheyenne, Apache, Comanche, Crow, and every other indigenous tribe) residing in America before the Europeans came should claim the land and kick the rest of us out. Especially Obama.
I have supported Obama from the beginning and disagree with the above writer’s condemnation of him. I have to say after hearing his Friday speech, and after all the information this site and others have made public for the past few years regarding problems with Arab Palestinian leaders, some Muslim clerics and with the continued Muslim attacks on Israel and the Jews, I felt a bit like Maria Shriver when I heard his words. I had expected a more pro-Israel position.
I didn’t hear his speech this morning (I was watching cartoons), but it is apparent that the people of the United States have a more pro-Israel view than the president. I am taking into consideration outside pressure he may be under, perhaps from Saudi Arabia and $250 a barrel oil and who knows what else. So be it. The people can be ruled just about as much as they will allow,* and the people of the United States will not allow Israel to suffer setbacks which will cause her harm.

An American Citizens Personal “Apology Tour”…
I am a private, unknown, middle class, American citizen. I would like to apologize to the State of Israel and the Jewish people for the President of the United States…Barack Hussein Obama.
I am ashamed of the speech that he gave on the 19th day of May, 2011, where he proposed, on the world stage, that Israel return to pre-1967 national boundary’s.
I didn’t vote for him, as in my research during the ’08 Primary, I determined that he was, at the least, sympathetic to the muslims, and NOT sympathetic to Israel. This was easy to ascertain based on his associations.
I am apologizing that despite the best efforts of those who saw him for what he was, and is, we were not able to convince those who did vote for him, not to.
I am apologizing for the extreme Far Left media in America that makes it appear that my whole country is against Israel. This is far from the truth. The Far Left media represents a minority opinion in America. They just have the loudest voice.
I would also like to apologize to Britain, Honduras, the Green Movement in Iran, and any other nation or truly Democratic movement that has been injured or insulted by the misguided, Far Left, Anti-Capitalist, Anti-Semitic, or racist policies of the President of the United States…Barack Hussein Obama.
I am truly sorry that he represents my country, and I promise to do everything in my power, within the confines of the Constitution of the United States, to remove him from the Presidency at the end of his first term.
