An Appeal to the Right-Wing Parties: Take Responsibility for the Entire Camp

Peloni:  The next govt will be involved in the most significant changes and dilemmas which has faced the Jewish people and the state of Israel since over a century ago when the reconstitution of the Jewish national homeland and the state of Israel was being considered on the international stage.  As was true then, these moments must be addressed with a sobering recognition that the actions taken today will be coincident with effects which will decide the fate of our people for the foreseeable future.  Hence, it falls to the leaders of national camp to act with care, integrity and responsibility so as to not prevent the majority support for Right Bloc in the nation to be represented as much as possible in the outcome of the soon to come election, as explained below by Yehudit Katsover & Nadia Matar of the Sovereignty Movement .

The number of right-wing parties is growing, and each one includes good, principled, talented people. And that is precisely the problem: you are all good – so whom should we choose?

But in the upcoming elections, the question is not only who is worthy of leading his or her party. The real question is what will happen to the entire right-wing camp.

The proliferation of parties and the splitting of votes will cause some parties to fail to pass the electoral threshold, and many votes from the national camp will simply be lost. In the end, fragmentation, even when driven by good intentions, will bring down the entire camp.

Therefore, we call on you: Unite – even if only in a technical alliance.

Not because there are no differences between you, and not because you are unworthy. On the contrary. But because your responsibility is greater than your own party.

Israel is facing fateful decisions.

The country is more important than any party. The camp is more important than a place on the electoral list.

Do not put us, the voters, before an impossible choice. Do not allow right-wing votes to be wasted and turned into a victory for the other side.

This time, we must not repeat the mistake of 1992. Now is the time to show compromise, flexibility and leadership, find common ground – and unite.
