Peloni: As Israel and Saudi Arabia stand at an impasse based upon the creation of a second Palestinian state, it renders the Abraham Accords quite meaningless. Do recall that the Abraham Accords was based upon removing the primacy of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, while allowing peace with Israel and the other Sunni nations to proceed. Now with MBS requiring the creation of a second Palestinian state, it renders the entire basis of the Abraham Accords to be a hollow shell. This provides an important context for Trump having allowed the f35 sale to Saudi Arabia to go forward. Importantly, we are faced with the inevitable return of Arab states demanding a second Palestinian state just as Israel, following the October 7 Massacre, is more determined than ever to not agree to such a demand. This of course does leave us with but one possible solution, namely that the first Palestinian state created a century ago should be recognized by one and all to be the Palestinian state which has been obscured by the self interest of one and all. After doing so, it would make many things possible, including normalization with the Saudis.

Peloni, you’re absoluteli right. “the entire basis of the Abraham Accords to be a hollow shell.” Trump is a snake oil salesman, a blowhard. Remember the “Deal of the Century”? Whatver happened to that? The Abraham Accords invented by Netnayahu and adopted by Trump is nonsense. So Bibi got four Arab states to sign on; big deal. Morocco, with whom Israel has done business for years; Bahrain, a microscopic island hard to find on a map; the UAE, which is no modern nation state but a federation of princedoms; and Sudan, today’s hell on earth where every day for the people is Oct. 7.
