Peloni: Pay particular attention to Tina Ghazimorad‘s comments about the IRGC.

After all of the off and on, all of the mixed messages, US President Donald Trump is on the verge of caving to Iran. The majority of US citizens are understood to be opposed to further American fighting with Iran, and so Trump, a political pragmatist, is looking for a way to stop the fighting – falling back on a “deal,” which he would undoubtedly, and maddeningly, portray as a “victory.”
As tired as I am of writing about him (and that means very tired), I will be visiting the issue of what he is proposing, as the story unfolds. Details remain unclear. What is presumably going to be signed very shortly is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that establishes yet another ceasefire, this one for 60 days. Allegedly this would allow time for the US and Iran to achieve that final deal. Should this materialize, it would be very bad news.
Trump had predicted the MoU would be signed today. As of this writing, it has not been. Nor, frankly, did I expect it would be. The leaders of the Iranian regime tend to drag their feet as a matter of course. But today, as the situation is tumultuous (keep reading), it is unlikely that there will be a signing.

One of the issues pertaining to a US-Iranian deal is the matter of Israeli attacks on Iran’s terrorist proxy, Hezbollah. Iran is seeking to tie the issues together, but this is something Israel cannot allow. We will not move out of southern Lebanon and will not cease attacks on Hezbollah; but Trump will pressure us.
This morning, three drones launched by Hezbollah in Lebanon entered Israeli airspace. Two exploded in in the western Galil and the third in an IDF military zone. In response, the IDF launched a precise attack on Hezbollah infrastructure—a command center—in the Hezbollah stronghold in Dahiyeh, Beirut.
Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz put out a joint statement: “Israel will not tolerate fire directed at its territory.” This is precisely as it should be.

Trump’s comments on Truth Social:
“This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran.” No, no Mr. President, you are close to a MoU, not a Peace Deal.
He added that “Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but” Israel “should not disrupt this important process…we are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon, and all sides should stand down.”
“…This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace – Let’s not blow it!”

How much of this highly inflated rhetoric does he believe? Surely he knows about the reports exposing divided opinion in Iran regarding a signing of any agreement with the US, which is viewed by hardliners as a sellout.

At any rate, Iran has now announced intention to launch missiles at Israel later tonight in retaliation for our hit in Beirut. Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has indicated that “We are closely monitoring developments while maintaining a high level of alert and readiness across all fronts. The reality at this time is sensitive and complex. Forces are preparing for Iran to attack Israel in the coming hours.”

And so, we here in Israel are prepared for the possibility of a disturbed night’s sleep.

Here I wish to turn to an analysis of enormous significance. Tina Ghazimorad, an Iranian journalist who grew up and studied in Tehran, is former editor-in-chief of Manoto TV, an Iranian channel based in London.
What she has to say about the regime in Iran is of enormous significance. I urge each of you, my friends, to read what she has to say and then share her insights as extensively as possible.

“When the international community engages with Tehran, it repeatedly commits a fundamental methodological error. Western diplomats and analysts treat the Islamic Republic as a conventional nation-state driven by national interest, borders, and civil welfare. This is a dangerous illusion.
“The Islamic Republic is a transnational revolutionary movement that captured Iran’s geography and resources, transforming a historic nation into a command headquarters to export fundamentalist ideology. At its core sits the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
“The IRGC does not merely serve the regime; the IRGC is the regime.
“This regime operates as an anti-national occupying force. The Constitution of the Islamic Republic explicitly defines the military’s mission as fulfilling the ideological mission of jihad to extend God’s law globally, supporting ‘the struggles of the oppressed against the oppressors in every corner of the globe.’” (Emphasis here and following added)

Ghazimorad then explains the evolution of the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps).
“The word ‘Islamic’ in its title was a deliberate declaration: its mission was never to defend Iranian borders, but to protect the theological survival of the regime. The Islamists quickly seized absolute control and systematically purged their naive allies…
“The ultimate manifestation of this ideology is the regime’s proxy network. For a revolutionary movement, national borders are arbitrary. This worldview is perfectly illustrated by the genesis of Lebanon’s Hezbollah.
“Beyond Lebanon, Hezbollah evolved into the IRGC’s global hitman and transnational criminal syndicate. Operating across Europe, West Africa, and Latin America, it runs a shadow empire of drug trafficking, money laundering, and smuggling.
“Whenever Tehran requires plausible deniability, it deploys Hezbollah for political assassinations, bombings, and hostage-taking. From targeting dissidents on European soil to training regional proxies like the Houthis, Hezbollah functions as a heavily armed mafia cartel executing the wet-work of its handlers in Tehran…
“For decades, the West engaged in futile appeasement, but the strategic landscape shifted permanently due to the military resolve of the State of Israel. Beginning in 2024, Israel launched a historic campaign that systematically dismantled what the IRGC spent 40 years building.
“Through unprecedented intelligence operations, Israel decapitated Hezbollah’s leadership. From the legendary exploding pager operation that neutralized thousands of operatives, to precise airstrikes eliminating longtime chief Hassan Nasrallah, Israel exposed the ‘hitman’ as deeply vulnerable.
“By degrading missile stockpiles and destroying command bunkers, Israel did what the rest of the world lacked the courage to attempt.
“In 2026, Israel masterfully exploited the fog of war surrounding the Islamic Republic’s conflicts and launched a massive aerial and ground offensive into southern Lebanon, obliterating Hezbollah’s strategic infrastructure in key strongholds like Bint Jbail, El-Khiam, and the Beaufort fortress.
“This dismantling explains why Tehran was driven to madness upon witnessing the destruction of its primary global hitman, culminating in its desperate retaliatory missile barrage on June 7, 2026…
“In this dark landscape, the international community owes a profound, eternal debt of gratitude to the State of Israel for standing as the irreplaceable shield of civilization…”

We have clarity here, as to why we Israelis must continue on our path.
We might hope, as well, for a bit of clarity regarding the error Trump is making in attempting to negotiate with the Islamic regime in Iran.
Send this out, put this up, wherever you can.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I also ask, as I always do, that you please pray.
Pray for the strength and courage of our leadership, both political and military; for all of our fighting forces in the IDF; and for all Israelis, who understand the situation and are prepared to withstand what we must going forward.
