Peloni: Gen. Avivi explains the need for Israel to demonstrate its unity to the world and to Hamas, even as the departure of Gantz while calling for election achieves the complete opposite of this need. Avivi goes further by explaining that any call or move towards elections at this time harms Israel’s war aims, including the aims of getting our hostages out of Gaza. The divisions being promoted by Gantz and which would accompany any election would only serve to strenghthen Hamas in their expectation that they would ultimately win the war, even as they continue to hold our hostages.
