PELONI: What a great tragedy that this last minute endorsement was not made weeks ago, or even a single week ago. With less than 48hrs before the polls open, and after 1.7 million early votes (more than a third of the number of votes cast in the 2022 midterm election) already cast, it is questionable how many people this endorsement might affect, but as explained below, it demonstrates an important crack in the Blue Wall of support for the expanding role of Islamist tolerance and support within the Democratic party.

Clinging to his pathological Jew-hatred cost Sayed this critical endorsement.
Rep. Haley Stevens endorsed Republican Mike Rogers for Michigan Senate. Stevens who lost the Democratic primary to Abdul El-Sayed in August, endorsed him initially but tensions boiled over an ad and Israel views, leading El-Sayed’s campaign to bar her from events. The endorsement gives Rogers a key cross-party boost in Michigan’s tight Senate race that could sway chamber control.

WFB: El-Sayed disinvited his primary opponent, Michigan congresswoman Haley Stevens, from a planned “unity” event after he refused to condemn an antisemitic ad produced on his behalf that blames the rising cost of groceries on Jews and Israel.
The remarkable turn of events came after Stevens said on Friday that El-Sayed’s condemnation was “expected” and that, at the invitation of her mentor, Rep. Jim Clyburn (D., S.C.), she would attend a “unifying” event at a black church in Detroit on Sunday with El-Sayed and Clyburn.
El-Sayed responded by releasing a statement criticizing Stevens and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which backed Stevens in the primary.
“Our campaign has always been focused on addressing the most critical challenges Michiganders are facing,” El-Sayed said. “That focus is why our people-powered campaign defeated a historic $70M in outside spending from big corporations and AIPAC on behalf of Congresswoman Stevens.”
Hours later, on Friday night, El-Sayed reportedly disinvited Stevens from the event. Stevens told the Washington Post that she would not discuss the matter further until after Tuesday’s election.
The feud could cost El-Sayed support from Stevens’s primary voters, particularly those in Detroit, where Stevens secured 51 percent of the Wayne County primary vote to El-Sayed’s 45 percent. Some black voters in the city have since said that El-Sayed is struggling to make inroads among the crucial voting bloc. El-Sayed defeated Stevens in the primary by less than 1 point.
The ad in question came from Cenk Uygur, the cofounder of the left-wing media company The Young Turks and the uncle of El-Sayed’s inflammatory primary campaign surrogate, Piker. It depicts a married couple in the grocery store who blame the price of eggs on Israel and its war on Hamas in Gaza.
Abdul El-Sayed’s ex-Dem opponent Rep. Haley Stevens makes dramatic switch to support GOP rival in 11th-hour Mich. Senate twist
By Ryan King, NY Post, Nov. 1, 2026:
Michigan Dem Rep. Haley Stevens has endorsed Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers in a stunning defection two days before the midterm election after a massive, public falling-out with Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed.
Haley’s comet comes at a critical time in the Michigan Senate race, which polls say is one of the tightest in the country.
“Our Democratic nominee for US Senate, Abdul, said that I was no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away. And he’s right,” she said in a video message released Sunday.“And that’s why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today. I don’t belong in Abdul’s campaign. I do not stand with Hassan Piker.”
“This is the conscience of the Senate right now and our Michigan moment. And I’m just letting you know where I am. I’m still a very proud Democrat.”
El-Sayed currently has a 3.5 percentage point edge over Rogers, according to RealClear Politics. Rogers’ campaign says his internal polling shows the Republican ahead.
Stevens was initially supposed to attend a unity event with El-Sayed on Sunday — before making the surprise heel-turn to appear with Rogers, a former congressman and FBI agent who lost his 2024 Senate race by less than half a percentage point.
But the two clashed late last week, prompting El-Sayed to gloat over his defeat of her in the primary and disinvite her to the Dem rally.
During her appearance with Rogers, Stevens touted her support for investing in black businesses.
“And that’s the policy that Mike’s going to take on,” she told reporters before entering the nave.
The shocking move marked the latest high-profile defection for El-Sayed, who has faced fractures in the Democratic coalition among Jewish and black voters. Former Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Lon Johnson, for example, urged Wolverine State voters not to back El-Sayed.

Rep. Hillary Scholten (D-Mich.) has declined to endorse El-Sayed.“I am really proud to have her vote,” Rogers said of Stevens. “There are lots of Democrats that are joining us.”
Looming over her defections was her fiancé, Jason Turkish’s decision to endorse Rogers, which became public last week. Initially, Stevens stood by El-Sayed. She released a statement late last week confirming plans to appear beside him at a unity event on Sunday, in which she dinged him over a controversial ad by “Young Turks” co-founder Cenk Uygur released in support of El-Sayed, which blamed Israel for high prices at the grocery store.
“[O]ur people-powered campaign defeated a historic $70M in outside spending from big corporations and AIPAC on behalf of Congresswoman Stevens,” El-Sayed said in a statement on Friday. “Now the stakes are even higher.”
Later, it was revealed that El-Sayed’s team asked Stevens not to attend the event on Sunday with Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), which took place not far from the church where Stevens and Rogers were seen smiling together.
The Post contacted El-Sayed’s team for comment.
“I am sorry people are upset. I understand that. I did endorse the Democratic nominee. He chose to say I wasn’t welcome,” Stevens said when asked about Democratic concerns over her defection to Rogers.
