  1. @ Ted Belman:

About the conference ( the right time-very topical) I sincerely hope it is fully attended, lots of well-known, knowledgeable speakers, (not DEM Dershowitz) and well funded. I hope ridicule plays a part…there is nothing like ridicule, even in a serious discussion, for making people sit-up and listen deeply.

  2. @ Ted Belman:

She undoubtedly knows all I mentioned, but in the heat of the discussion…. But it was a perfect opportunity for their presentation.

The subject of UNWRA itself would take an 800 page book for proper examination. The Emmett Laor book I mentioned does a good job. I learned a lot from it, much of which I actually had known but had allowed to lapse from instant memory.

By the way, I mentioned Hadriani Relandi a while back to you and you know of the controversies over his census, and not on record as ever having left his country. There is a symposium on Reland next month at Utrecht University, presumably the anniversary of his death. After much emailing with Haifa professors (hostile) and essay translators, (180 deg. positive), I finally contacted a couple of the Utrecht profs (who seem very nice people) and was given the link to the professor actually in charge of the Symposium, and I am awaiting an answer from him.

If you are interested, I will let you know, if you’re not, I won’t. You re too busy to waste time.

  3. @ Edgar G.:
The specific book is “Battleground: Fact & Fantasy in Palestine” by Samuel Katz

    https://www.amazon.com/Battleground-Fantasy-Palestine-Samuel-Katz/dp/0929093135

And, in this book, which was written by one of Israel’s founding fathers — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shmuel_Katz_(politician)
and written decades earlier than the Peters, he has all the same information but more in depth and backed up by more primary sources. Though she worked independently and the criticisms of her book are nonsense, it still reads somewhat like a summary of Katz. And this is the link you were looking for for the Lauer:

The page you cited was just the general publishers page. Easy to google. You just highlight and type over (to replace) everything in the address bar (www etc.) and then type in the author and title and hit enter. It should come up on the first page.

It is also available as an Amazon KIndle ebook, I see, though I don’t know if the citations are all there as they are not in the Katz.

    https://www.amazon.com/Invention-Palestinians-Revised-Emmett-Laor-ebook/dp/B00C4APMV6

The ebook version is $9.99 to buy or free with Kindle Unlimited which is $10 a month and lets you borrow certain books without paying extra. Print edition is $20. $18 used.

In the Calvo book, the ebook looks even better because it not only has footnotes but it has links to videos as well.
I paid about $27 for the Calvo as an ebook. It was much more for the print edition.

  4. TED- I hope you read this, especially the bottom half which is a definite link about the refugees etc and much more.. I thought Hotovely said 750,000. She specified that these people were REGISTERED, she didn’t get into where they came from or the fact that at least half of them piled in from the surrounding countries within the previous 2 years. Nor that many so-called “refugees” never left their homes at all, and many others just moved a mile or two out of the way of the fighting.

If you are looking for a link, surely you know that Joan Peters said something like 320,000-340,000, another census said not more tha 370,000; and there are others.

TED–…I just was reminded of Shmuel Katz, and whilst looking for him I came across a very specific book ( which states that there were 350,000 “refugees) with lots of references by a writer named Emmett Laor called “The Invention Of The Palestinians …27 Theses They Won’t Let You Hear argued at the University on Israelophobia, Judaism, The Middle East and Related Matters”.
