I saw the Rat Race many decades ago in Chicago. Tony Curtis was still a nice young guy, but with a terrible accent he couldn’t easily unlearn. (“Yonda is da castle of my fadda.”)
You can find Singing in the Rain, The Unsinkable Molly Brown and Tammy and the Bachelor on You Tube.
I also noted Marjorie Morningstar with Natalie Wood and watched it again.
Great memories and great viewing.
I had been thinking the same thoughts, Ted. Debbie Reynolds was part of the same generation whose entertainment caught the eyes, ears and sensibilities of all of us who came to adulthood in the early 1950s. As a trouper, she was the real McCoy. The death of her daughter by her marriage to Eddie Fisher obviously destroyed the last shreds of her will to live. As a very selective lover of high quality motion pictures, both of them will live on in my own memories.
