In the Palestinian Authority, ‘Police By Day, Terrorists By Night’

Peloni:  Recall that the PA is an American equity, that they armed it, funded it, and trained it.  It is time for them to completely repudiate it, outlaw it, and designate it as a terrorist entity, which it has been since its inception.

The one point on which the PA and Hamas agree.

It turns out that many of the police serving in the Palestinian Authority Security Force (PASF) have been moonlighting as terrorists. They were originally trained by American police, paid with American aid dollars, and are now being relied on to help Israel fight terrorists in Judea and Samaria. But instead of fighting terrorists, they are themselves terrorists. More on the double lives of “Palestinian” policemen can be found here: “‘Terrorists in Uniform:’ The PA police moonlight as terrorists,” Elder of Ziyon, July 18, 2025:

During the Oslo process in the 1990s, the US trained the Palestinian Authority police to help them build a state.

An acquaintance says that they used to bring retired American officers to Israel and they would meet with the PA police. One general said to my friend after the meeting, “These are NOT police. These are soldiers pretending to be police. Watch out.”

As we saw during the second intifada, he was right. The PA police would use their American equipment for terror.

Palestinian Media Watch issued a report this week, “Terrorists in Uniform,” that is a must-read on how PA security forces are moonlighting as terrorists, just as Hamas police are also terrorists. Last week, the two terrorists who attacked and murdered 22-year-old Shalev Zevuloni were found to be PA police.

The PMW report gives example after example of how the PA Security Forces themselves brag about these terrorists employed by them:

The PASF spokesman praising the PASF forces specifically because they are fighting Israel, filling the Israeli prisons, and achieving Martyrdom.

The PASF is supposed to be collaborating with Israel in fighting terrorists in the West Bank. It does so intermittently, and only against terrorists belonging to Hamas, rounding them up, or even killing them, not because they are terrorists, but because they belong to the PA’s enemy, Hamas.

Fatah praised the PASF terrorists: “By day security Forces, and by night self-sacrificing fighters.”

The PA is no less supportive of terror than Hamas, and their police – which are the linchpin for any potential takeover of Gaza – are part of the problem, not the solution.

Abbas’ Fatah doesn’t deny that members of the PASF carry out terror attacks against Israelis. Fatah is clearly proud of such attacks. Abbas himself keeps pretending to be against terrorism, but he continues to finance his “Pay-For-Slay” program that rewards past, and incentivizes future, acts of terrorism. And now we discover that Fatah — which Abbas runs — brags that members of the PA’s police force are “by day Security Forces, and by night self-sacrificing fighters.” The PA is no less a supporter of terrorism than its arch-rival Hamas. And should the PA ever be put in charge of Gaza by the Western powers, in the dreamy belief that unlike Hamas, the PA opposes terrorism, they will soon be disabused. The PA and Hamas are rivals for power, and prepared to kill each other’s fighters, but on one point they agree: terrorism against the hated Israelis is always to be encouraged.

  1. @peloni, you opening comment is wonderful, but how can it be turned into reality? The PA, just like Hamas, must be disbanded and the pay for slay program must be aborted.
As a side thought, don’t all the Gazans sho participated in 10/7/23 also have a right to a lifelong pension from Abbas? If he were to pay them all, the PA would be bankrupt tomorrow.

  2. PLO, PA officials face US sanctions for ICC actions, terror support
The US has imposed visa bans on PLO and PA officials, citing violations of peace accords, international legal actions against Israel, and ongoing support for terrorism.

The State Department has reported to Congress that the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Palestinian Authority (PA) are not in compliance with their commitments under the PLO Commitments Compliance Act of 1989 (PLOCCA) and the Middle East Peace Commitments Act of 2002 (MEPCA), including by initiating and supporting actions at international organizations that undermine and contradict prior commitments in support of Security Council Resolution 242 and 338, taking actions to internationalize its conflict with Israel such as through the International Criminal Court (ICC) and International Court of Justice (ICJ), continuing to support terrorism including incitement and glorification of violence (especially in textbooks), and providing payments and benefits in support of terrorism to Palestinian terrorists and their families. The United States is imposing sanctions that deny visas to PLO members and PA officials in accordance with section 604(a)(1) of the MEPCA.? It is in our national security interests to impose consequences and hold the PLO and PA accountable for not complying with their commitments and undermining the prospects for peace.
