Peloni: I long to see the hopes fulfilled of the one million protestors around the world who support a free Iran. The context of these protests are two-fold. First, there is the reality that the protests of support in the West are the voices of Iranian expats and their supporters, all of whom live in the West while looking towards a future for Iran free from oppression and able to choose a path of freedom for the Iranian people. The question is whether this represents only the perspective of those who were able to flee the tyranny of the Mullahs, or if it speaks to the hopes of the people who have lived under Iranian oppression for nearly 50yrs. Second, these protests, no matter their relevance in Iran, demonstrate a political movement in the West which might be transformed into political weight at the polling booths. If this is accurate, it might come to be more relevant to what comes next than the first point.
BREAKING: Persia has risen. Over 1 million Iranians and allies marched across the world for a free Iran and the return of national sovereignty. Toronto 350,000. Los Angeles 350,000. Munich 250,000.
