One thing which goes unstated about the motivation of Washington to appease its Islamist allies in the region, is that it secures these actors under Washington’s alliance system rather than seeing them shift towards China. While the consequences of pursuing such a policy has significant and unfortunate implications for Washington, the region and the American people. As I have noted on many occasions, Trump’s greater interest is in dealing with China, not with Iran.

Also Trump is trying to woo Qatar, Saudis, Turkey and Pakistan away from China. That’s exactly why he has ‘befriended’ them. He knows they are unreliable jihadists.

All true. Yet, while Trump is befriending these Jihadists, they are forming an anti-Israel alliance of their own, and while Turkey and Pakistanis won’t have advanced avionics of the f-35, the Saudis will.
Another point which is a bit off topic, but which needs being voiced is that the hostages were freed due to Turkish pressure on Hamas. This was a precedent which gives Trump a great deal of respect and acknowledgement to Erdogan, and is why he wants Turkey involved going forward. This is highly problematic, because the reason that Turkey has influence over Hamas is due to his support and connection to Hamas, ie not because he threatens them, but because he is part of the Muslim Brotherhood cabal. It is impossible to believe that Trump is unaware of this, and yet he acts as if he were, and herein lies a great part of what is described in the video above as a pro-Jihadi outlook by Trump – in effect at a minimum as Rabbi Wolicki explains.
Sure but who pressured Turkey to pressure Hamas? Trump. He also pressured Qatar to do the same.
Don’t get me wrong. I really hearing Gil’s perspective on this and it’s definitely worth talking about. But I’m with the rabbi on this. Trump is neither pro-Jihadi or really pro-Israel. He is pro-American as he should be. So far I think its fair to say that despite all the good he’s done for the world at large and for Jews in particular, his behaviour over the last quarter vis a vis Iran has been nuts.
