Diplomatic officials in Israel said on Sunday evening that the series of gestures to the Palestinian Authority (PA) approved by the Cabinet are “a gesture ahead of President Trump’s visit that does not harm Israel’s interests.”

“The measures are all in the economic-civil sphere. There are no security measures,” stressed the officials.

“The measures are not status-changing,” the sources stressed. “Planning authority remains in the hands of Israel – existing construction, which in any case will not be demolished, has been approved.”

The sources added that the Supreme Planning Council of the Civil Administration will convene at the beginning of next month.

The measures approved earlier on Sunday include extended opening hours at the Allenby Crossing, new industrial zones for the PA, and increased Palestinian Arab construction in Area C. Israel will determine the nature of the construction, be it agricultural, industrial or residential.

The Cabinet also approved the establishment of a committee for a period of three years that will promote the regulation of structures and outposts in Judea and Samaria. The team will include members of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Defense and the Civil Administration.

The Ministers decided that a proposal would be submitted to the government within 21 days to define the roles of the committee, its composition and the manner of determining its work plan. The team will report to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense every three months on the progress of the discussions.

The measures were approved following a long Cabinet meeting, which lasted for more than five hours, and in which differences of opinion emerged between Jewish Home Ministers Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Bennett and Shaked expressed their opposition to the gestures, particularly plans to approve significantly more construction by Palestinian Authority residents in Area C – which is under Israeli security and civil administration.

The Jewish Home Ministers attempted to form a coalition that would have voted against the gestures, but failed to do so, as most of the ministers agreed that the measures in question would facilitate PA economic development that could help the region.

So, let me get this straight. They violated Jewish rights by giving away Areas A, B and Gaza

the violation is written in stone, in international law, written in L.O.M., written in u n charter article 80. those who allow this violation should be tared feathered, drawn and quartered using Arabian steeds

  2. How is this not status changing? This is the only concrete, irreversible step I have seen so far in this dizzying light show.

  3. “Abbas to offer land swap with Israel in Trump talks
Plan by which Arabs renounce 6.5 percent of lands under their political control to Israel, three times as much as previously offered.”

“”The Palestinian side will be presenting, during the meeting with Trump, a new vision which is quite detached from that of the majority of the Palestinian people.”

Gee, ya think? Not to mention Hamas, waiting in the wings, assuming it’s not another trick, of which I have not the slightest doubt.

Seen the news of the latest Muslim atrocity?

19 dead in explosion at Manchester concert hall
19 killed and 50 wounded in explosion at Manchester Arena. Terror attack suspected.

No way it will every be safe to have Muslims in close proximity. The policy should be one of rollback and encirclement.

This utterly stupid report is zooming in on the “fact” that there are no security matters endangered..it being only an economic benefit to the squatter Arabs. As if this was all that mattered. Damn it to hell, what about the fact that they will be ensconced on OUR land, depriving us from our legal entitlement of using the whole of Eretz Yisrael for our own normal population expansion. I suppose that the Arabs can live in sprawling i or 2 story buildings, and the Jews must huddle in high-rise apartments closer together… maybe for safety…Huh??

Nobody…but NOBODY is as stupid as a supposedly intelligent, “clever” Jew, who wants to show the whole world how nice we are, before turning to our own very pressing matters of improvement. Poverty stricken single mothers and hungry children and much more…. The Arabs can go to …..Gehinnom.

  5. :
    More government.

Gestures, made by crooked politicians, which increase their own power, at the expense of average folks.

  6. BEN-GURION’S DECLARATION ON THE EXCLUSIVE AND INALIENABLE JEWISH RIGHT TO THE WHOLE OF
    THE LAND OF ISRAEL:
at the Basle Session of the 20th Zionist Congress at Zurich(1937)

No Jew has the right to yield the rights of the Jewish People in Israel –
    David Ben Gurion

(David Ben-Gurion was the first Prime Minister of Israel and widely hailed as the State’s main founder).

“No Jew has the right to yield the rights of the Jewish People in Israel.
No Jew has the authority to do so.
No Jewish body has the authority to do so.
Not even the entire Jewish People alive today has the right to yield any part of Israel.
It is the right of the Jewish People over the generations, a right that under
    no conditions can be cancelled.
Even if Jews during a specific period proclaim they are relinquishing this right, they have neither the power nor the authority to deny it to future generations.
No concession of this type is binding or obligates the Jewish People. Our right to the country – the entire country – exists as an eternal right, and we shall not yield this historic right until its full and complete redemption is realized.”

(David Ben Gurion, Zionist Congress, Basel, Switzerland, 1937.)

“No country in the world exists today by virtue of its ‘right’.
All countries exist today by virtue of their ability to defend themselves against those who seek their destruction

  7. First and foremost, no Jewish built construction should be demolished and no restriction on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria.

Stop the concessions to the Arab-Palestinians. It has not worked for the past 70 years it will not work now.

Israel must deal from strength and not concessions and appeasement, while the Arabs promote hate, terror and violence and kill and stab Jews wherever possible, this is not a peace overture but a way to increase terror and violence.

It is time for Israel to implement its complete sovereignty on all the Land of Israel West of the Jordan River.

Israel must apply a death penalty to all terrorists and those who promote and or support terror and violence.

No Jew or Jewish government has the right to evict Jews from their historical land in Greater Israel. “Israel, including Judea and Samaria, and the land east of the Jordan River has been the land of the Jewish people since time immemorial, over 30 centuries. Judea means Land of the Jews. Never in the history of the world has there been an autonomous state in the area that was not Jewish.” There has never been a Nation known as Arab Palestine. The Arabs received over five million sq. mi. – 12 million sq. km. of territory with a wealth of oil reserves, but that was not enough. Violating international law and treaty the British allocated over three quarters of Jewish allocated land to the Arabs as the new Arab state of Jordan. Now the Arabs want more; they will not stop until they have all of Israel without the Jews. The Arab countries expelled over a million Jewish families and confiscated all their assets including businesses, homes and over 46,332 sq. mi. (about 120,000 sq. km. which is 6 times the size of Israel) of Jewish owned land for over 25 centuries. The Faisal Weizmann Agreement of January 1919 stipulated that all of Palestine is Jewish territory. No Jews are allowed to live in Jordan or in the West Bank area controlled by the Arab Palestinian Authority – Now you see it is the Arabs who are committing ethnic cleansing, just like they cleansed over a million Jewish families from Arab countries and now they are cleansing the millions of Christians and others.
The Oslo Accord is null and void as Abbas stated in the summer of 2015 at the U.N.
You; the Arabs have murdered the Jews and others and now you want to inherit them?
In view of past history of persecution; Israel and the Jews have an obsolete obligation to defend themselves at all costs. NEVER AGAIN. It must be in action not just words. No capitulation to the bias world.
    YJ Draiman

  8. Not only did they agree to permitting Arab construction but they also agreed not to demolish illegal Arab construction. This is tantamount to ceding Area C. We got nothing in return and Bennett agreed to it because he couldn’t muster enough opposition.

At a minimum we should have secured construction rights for ourselves or an agreement the ’67 lines with swaps is not the guiding principle. Rather we should get an agreement that we can keep a minimum of 20% of Area C in places of our choosing.

I fear that Bibi is accepting the Kerry framework and is only asking for better security terms.

  9. @ Sebastien Zorn:
Actually, I would like to sit down and talk seriously with these people. What’s it like to be brain dead? Do they sleep better at night? Do they find it easier to lose weight? Is it cost effective, compared to being dead, say?

So, let me get this straight. They violated Jewish rights by giving away Areas A, B and Gaza, not to mention Jordan, not to mention the Sinai penninsula from which Jewish settlements were booted, Jews are not allowed to live there. Now, Jews can’t build in Area C, the Jewish heartland, but Arabs can? Where Jews are a majority now and almost all the Jewish sacred national heritage sites are? But have to live under military law under Jordanian or Ottoman rules? And have to worry about being murdered in their beds by these counterfeit human beings who live by the code of the psychopath, mohammad? Right. Just checking. Good night. Sleep tight. The fox is guarding the henhouse.

  10. Oy. Isn’t Jewish construction halted? How does this not violate Jewish security interests? and Rights. Human Rights. And every other kind? Are these people brain dead?

  11. This sucks!
They should have demolished all illegal construction in Area C and elsewhere as a gesture to “Palestinians” and Trump.

    The gesture should mean:
This is our land and we are not going to bend to your pressure.
