JERUSALEM Israel and the United States have signed a joint statement launching a new strategic partnership focused on artificial intelligence, research, and critical technologies, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral cooperation in emerging and security-sensitive fields.

The announcement was made by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, who said the agreement forms part of the Pax Silica initiative, a framework aimed at advancing collaboration on advanced technologies that are increasingly central to national security and economic competitiveness.

According to Sa’ar, the partnership is designed to reinforce both countries’ technological leadership while aligning innovation with shared strategic priorities. He emphasized that cooperation in artificial intelligence and critical technologies has become a cornerstone of modern alliances.

“Israel signed a joint statement launching a strategic partnership between Israel and the U.S., on AI, research and critical technologies, part of the Pax Silica initiative,” Sa’ar said in a public statement.

The agreement reflects growing recognition in both Jerusalem and Washington that artificial intelligence, advanced computing, and next-generation research capabilities are no longer purely commercial domains but essential components of national defense, intelligence, and economic resilience.

Sa’ar credited senior U.S. and Israeli officials for advancing the initiative, specifically thanking U.S. Under Secretary Jacob Helberg and Erez Askal, Director of Israel’s National AI Agency, for their role in shaping the framework and facilitating cooperation.

“I thank Under Secretary Jacob Helberg and Director of the National AI Agency Erez Askal for paving the way,” Sa’ar said.

Israeli officials said the partnership will support joint research programs, policy coordination, and the development of secure and responsible artificial intelligence systems. While specific project details were not immediately released, the agreement is expected to expand collaboration between government agencies, research institutions, and private-sector innovators in both countries.

According to Sa’ar, the technological partnership is not only a bilateral benefit but also directly supports American strategic interests.

“Our technological partnership strengthens U.S. national security and its economy,” he said.

U.S. officials have increasingly highlighted artificial intelligence and critical technologies as central to maintaining a competitive edge against rival powers, particularly in areas such as defense applications, cyber capabilities, and advanced manufacturing. Israel, widely recognized as a global leader in innovation and high-tech development, has been a long-standing partner of the United States in defense and intelligence cooperation.

The announcement also carries political significance, coming under the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Sa’ar described the current state of bilateral relations as exceptionally strong.

“Under the leadership of President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, our unbreakable alliance is at historic heights,” Sa’ar said.

The reference underscores the broader strategic alignment between the two governments, which has included close coordination on security policy, regional threats, and diplomatic initiatives. Analysts note that technology cooperation has become an increasingly prominent pillar of the U.S.-Israel relationship, complementing traditional military and intelligence ties.

The Pax Silica initiative is expected to serve as a platform for sustained engagement on technology governance, innovation security, and ethical standards related to artificial intelligence. Officials on both sides have stressed the importance of ensuring that advanced technologies are developed in ways that reflect democratic values and protect national interests.

For Israel’s pro-Israel and Jewish audiences, the agreement reinforces Israel’s role as a trusted strategic partner of the United States and a key contributor to Western technological leadership. It also highlights Israel’s continued investment in artificial intelligence and research as national priorities.

The joint statement comes amid rapid global competition in artificial intelligence, with governments increasingly seeking trusted partners to secure supply chains, protect sensitive data, and maintain technological sovereignty. Israeli officials said the new partnership positions Israel and the United States to respond more effectively to these challenges together.

Further details on implementation mechanisms and joint initiatives are expected to be released in the coming weeks as relevant agencies begin operationalizing the agreement.
