Israel Update: Famine in Gaza?

Peloni:  Mike Doran and Gadi Taub begin their conversation by detailing the fake news surrounding the antisemitic claim of famine in Gaza which is being promoted by both the Israeli press as well as the international press.  During this, Mike makes the important observation that this is due to a failure in leadership around the world, and that even Pres. Trump has failed to focus upon the fact that Hamas needs to be destroyed and that there is no famine in Gaza.  Following this, they discuss the role being played withing the IDF, notably by Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, raising the aim of rescuing the hostages above that of achieving victory.  They also address the controversy over the need of Israel to occupy Gaza whenever the war actually ends.  Beginning around 28 min. mark, Mike provides an important perspective challenging Israel’s policy of protecting the Druze as it has Israel opposing policies pursued by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the US, while also working towards the benefit of Iran, thus questioning both Israel’s wisdom and ability to deal with the consequences of doing so.

  1. There is an excellent article about the famine claims in today’s Arutz Sheva, entitles “no famine in Gaza” which refutes the famine allegations. According to Arutz Sheva and COGAT, the Israeli gpvernmentagency that coordinates aid to Gaza, huge quantities of aid packages, most of them containing food, have piled up on the Gaza side of the Israel-Gaza border, while UN agencies that are responsible for distributing the aid (UNWRA?) refuse to distribute it ‘for their own reasons.” This pile-up of aid packages while the UN and affiliated agencies refuse to distribute it to Gazans has happened at least once before during the current war. There was an article about that earlier aid hold-up a few months ago in INN. It played out the same way as the present ditribution hold-up.

Israel and the US had set up their own aid organization, independent of the UN, to distribute aid to the Gazans. However, Hamas shot and killed many of the aid workers distributing this aid, This shows how much Hamas cares about the human needs of Gaza’s people. The reaon that hamas murdered the American-based organization’s aid workers is that they wouldn’t give the aid to Hamas “soldiers” The uN agencies do deliver the aid to Hamas soldiers, who take most of it for their own use, or sell it to Gazan civilians at inflated prices. Apparently the UN is more interested in keeping Hamas in control of Gaza than it is in providing food and medical care to the Gazan people.

  2. The photographs and videos of Gazans that I have seen in the mainstream U,S, and British media don’t show anyone who looks like they are starving.

It is interesting that photos of starving children taken in Yemen, where starvation is real, are being used with claims that they were taken in Gaza. Our enemies lie systematically and deliberately in their efforts to discredit Israel before the “court” of world public opinion. That suggests that they are aware that their whole “case” against Israel is a lie, and that they know that Israel is not the evil entity that they claim it is.

Hatred that is so severe that it enables its perpetrators to “frame” and innocent nation and people that they know is innocent is an extremely pathological hatred. Vast numbers of human beings are sociopaths in relation to their malevolence towards certain peoples, religions or ethnic groups that they think are rivals to their own ethnic or religious community. John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester had it right when he wrote more than 300 years ago, “Humanity is our worst disease.”
