Here are some of the many good (but sad) points made: Israal surroundered its own land to international control, Israel is still afraid to play big but wants to look small; slowly Israel is turning towards more observance of the Bible; at Sinai we were in awe at first when Moses received the commandments but just 40 days later we were dancing to an idol – yet God in his great mercy allowed us to continue anyway.
The implication, as I hear it, is that we will somehow survive our foolishness, as we have so many times before.
