In a notable shift in American diplomacy, the U.S. Senate has officially confirmed former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as the new ambassador to Israel. The 53-46 vote took place Wednesday, with all Republicans and one Democrat, pro-Israel Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, voting in favor of the Trump administration’s nominee.

Huckabee, a well-known Christian Zionist, enters the post at a pivotal time. With the U.S. opening nuclear talks with Iran a nation openly hostile to Israel his appointment signals strong alignment between Washington and Jerusalem under the Trump administration.

At his confirmation hearing in March, Huckabee voiced personal support for Israel’s annexation of Judea and Samaria but emphasized that his role would be to execute the president’s policies, not his own. “An ambassador doesn’t create the policy,” he reminded the Senate. “He carries the policy of his country and the president.”

While Huckabee’s theological and political support for Israel is well documented, he struck a careful tone during the hearing, acknowledging that diplomacy must reflect official U.S. positions.

This week, President Trump once again hinted at radical new directions in Middle East policy, including relocating Palestinians to other countries and suggesting a potential U.S. role in governing Gaza. These remarks followed two visits from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in quick succession, underscoring the urgency and gravity of ongoing war efforts against Hamas, which launched its deadly invasion of Israel on October 7, 2023.

As Huckabee steps into this influential role, he brings with him a steadfast loyalty to the Jewish state and a commitment to strengthening the U.S.-Israel alliance at a moment when both nations face complex geopolitical threats.

Israel welcomes this deepened bond with its closest ally, and Huckabee’s arrival marks a new chapter in this vital relationship rooted in shared values, enduring partnership, and an unwavering commitment to security and peace in the region.

  1. This article by Steve Apfel about hostility to Israel and support for Hamas by ‘progressive” American Jews in worth a look.

    The Progressive Passover
All the Palestinian Arabs had to do in Gaza after 2005’s Disengagement was make unto themselves a nation. You’d think Moses the Progressive Jew would be happy. Think again.

In fact, I think Israpundit should republish Apfel’s article, which exposes American Jews’ organized “progressive”community thoroughly

Twain attributed it to Disraeli in fact. But there is no record of Dizzy actually saying it, I have a very old Dizzy biography and I don’t think I ever came across it.I’d certainly remember if I had.

It’s a huge very ornately hard covered book entitled “Lord Beaconsfield”

That is a sharp distinction from the Harvard Harris Poll which shows a 42-39% split on favorability for Israel. But, as I have argued previously, how can you trust any poll in a country in which the elections have been so publicly toyed. Indeed, I recall the saying that the only poll that really matters, or might be trusted, is the one taken on election day at the election polls. If thesw lacks credibility then what value might be found in political polling, which is conducted by political advocates on a topic which has become so politicized of late (by Israel’s enemies) as the issue of Israel’s favorability.

  4. A year and a half of lies and blood libels takes its toll. I don’t know if this poll overrepresented demographic groups more likely to be anti-Israel to get these results. But how bizarre that Israel suffers the worst massacre of its people ever and its Israel that’s viewed unfavorably. Our nation’s changing demographics, the less Christian that America becomes and the brainwashing of the younger generations getting their “news” from Tiktok are all factors responsible for these numbers. I worry about the future of the GOP on Israel seeing the numbers coming from younger people, even young conservatives. Much of that has to do with scum like Joe Rogan and fucker Carlson’s influence among young Republicans. I think the GOP will eventually turn against Israel the way democrats have. Trump may be the last president supporting Israel. I hope Israel realizes this and immediately starts developing domestic fighter jets and other vital armaments because it will be standing alone eventually.
