Natasha Hausdorff addresses the UK Green Party’s attempt to delegitimize Israel, the Zionist credo and its call for the replacement of Israel entirely with a second Palestinian state.
Natasha Hausdorff refutes the libel of Zionism is racism by first considering the actual meaning of Zionism: a national movement supporting the Jewish people’s right to self-determination and a sovereign state in their ancestral homelands which are the land of Israel.
She notes that the attempt to portray Zionism as inherently racist, evil, or beyond the pale requires an assumption of a number of falsehoods which distort the history of the Zionist movement and entirely misrepresent its purpose.
These fake depictions of Zionism as rascism are underpinned by the false characterization of Zionism as settler colonialism, which entirely disregards the indigenous nature of the Jewish people in the land of Israel.
Hausdorff explores the reality that the attempt to depict Zionism inherently establishes racial hierarchies, domination, and oppression, are echoes of the false accusation of apartheid.
Hausdorff also recalls that Israel was established as the only democracy in the Middle East and a bastion of equality under the law, where people of all faiths and races are treated equally under a single legal standard.
The repetitive presentation of these baseless allegations as established facts has manufactured a distorted focus of public discussion, allowing the description of Zionism as racist to largely go unchallenged.
She recalls that the United Nations resolution equating Zionism with racism, which was subsequently revoked, remains as a stain on the history of the UN and that the historical and political context of this fake Soviet propaganda ploy is strongly misrepresented by the Green Party in its efforts to support its revival of this ugly chapter of the UN’s history.
Hausdorff hightlights that the Green Party’s call advocating for the replacement of Israel with a single Palestinian state specifically endeavors for the erasure of the Jewish state and the denial of Jewish self-determination, which remains as a guiding principle recognized under international law.
Hausdorff argues further that falsely accusing the Jewish state of racism, ethnic cleansing, colonialism, oppression, or genocide is not legitimate criticism but is in fact a Jew Hatred libel as the allegations have no material basis in fact.
In closing, Hausdorff concludes that the greatest danger emanating from this attempt by the Green Party’s fake news efforts is that it supports a growing acceptance of these falsehoods as established facts, and charges that the effort to portray Zionism as racist precisely emboldens the very prejudices and discriminations which its proponents animate a claim to oppose.
This 15-minute video was very effective in refuting the Green Party’s claims and should be widely shared.
