The anniversary of the passing of a Jewish leader is often an occasion to reflect on the deceased’s life and legacy, and the death of the Zionist leader in August 1940 is no different.
But in Ze’ev Jabotinsky’s case, the controversy over his re-interment, decades later, is also a matter of significance—and offers important lessons for our own era.
Jabotinsky was one of the most dynamic and influential Zionist orators of the 20th century. Speeches were vital for inspiring the masses—especially the downtrodden masses of interwar Eastern Europe. He exhorted the Jews of Russia and Poland to take pride in their heritage, to recognize that violent anti-Semitism was on the horizon, and to prepare to settle in the Land of Israel.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Despite 25 years of formal peace, many in Jordan regard Israel as an illicit enemy state. The Jordanian government plays a double game: its public hostility toward Israel enables it to preserve its popularity while, behind the scenes, it maintains close ties with Israel.
In an unusual and particularly outrageous declaration, Jordanian MP Tarek Khoury recently called on Jordanians to blow up pipelines that are supposed to bring natural gas to Jordan from Israel. Khoury, who is from the Christian community, stated early in July: “I want to propose something to all the members of parliament: to sign an honor roll. Each one is free to sacrifice his life and his children’s lives in order to blow up any [Israeli] gas pipeline that passes through Jordanian territory. All of us will be martyrs. We will sign this honor roll to prevent this gas pipeline from passing through one centimeter of Jordanian land.”
Over the centuries, rabbis have addressed cases related to potentially deformed fetuses, pregnancy as the result of rape or adultery. According to the Jewish texts, there is more than one view.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed a bill on May 17 that criminalizes most abortions, threatening providers, such as Planned Parenthood with a felony conviction and up to 99 years in prison.
It was one of the numerous efforts across the United States to restrict access to abortion and challenge the Supreme Court’s 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade that legalized the practice nationwide.
Six states have recently passed legislation that limits abortions to approximately six weeks after the end of a woman’s last period, before many know they are pregnant. Although the laws have not yet taken effect and several have been blocked on constitutional grounds, if enacted the legislation would prohibit most abortions once a doctor can hear rhythmic electrical impulses in the developing fetus.

In a study conducted by the research center, Jewish people got an average likability score by Americans, while Muslims scored the lowest, together with Atheists
U.S. Jews know more about religion in general than their non-Jewish neighbors, a new survey shows.
Americans who are not Jewish, meanwhile, don’t know a lot about Judaism. But they like Jews more than any other religious group. And they think there are more Jews in the country than there actually are. The more non-Jews know about Jews, the more they like them.
The data comes out of a new survey on what Americans know about religion published Tuesday by the Pew Research Center. The survey asked a group of diverse Americans a set of 32 questions about religion, ranging from knowledge of the Bible and Christianity to knowledge of Judaism and other religions.

The Department of Justice is opening a sweeping anti-trust review to determine whether the country’s leading technology firms are stifling competition in violation of federal law, it announced Tuesday.
“Without the discipline of meaningful market-based competition, digital platforms may act in ways that are not responsive to consumer demands,” Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim of the Antitrust Division said in a statement announcing the remarkably broad probe. “The Department’s antitrust review will explore these important issues.”

From the day the 116th Congress opened in January, Democrats have used their committee powers in a multi-front legal war on President Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, Trump fought back with some legal warfare of his own.
And the fight isn’t just on Capitol Hill.
In federal court in Washington, Trump sued the House Committee on Ways and Means and New York state, claiming congressional Democrats were working with New York Democrats to get around federal laws protecting Trump’s tax returns, according to The Hill.

The House of Representatives just passed three important pieces of bipartisan legislation that will help keep Israel safe, strengthen the U.S.-Israel alliance, and combat the global BDS campaign.

This is happening right under the noses of the American authorities, across the United States. Tzvi Yechezkali, a Jewish Israeli reporter, went undercover as a Muslim across the USA, exposing the Muslim Imams, from New York to California and Texas, who incite their Muslim congregants to hate and murder Jews. Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)—Saeb Erekat—has told a political symposium in Jericho that West Bank Arabs would not be allowed to voluntarily leave—virtually holding them captives against their will.
Erekat stated:
“We will not allow resettlement or formation of refugee committees for that aim, while holding on to the settlement of their cause in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.”
Michael Lynk – the United Nations Human Rights Council’s “Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967”had issued a statement on June 28 endorsing the right to freedom of movement—enshrined in Article 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Johnson’s Jewish history
Johnson’s ease with the community is unsurprising. Although he is an Anglican, his maternal great-grandfather was a rabbi from Lithuania. Johnson also has a connection to one of Britain’s leading Jewish families: his father’s second wife, Jenny, is the stepdaughter of Edward Sieff, the philanthropist and former chairman of retail giant Marks & Spencer. (Johnson also has Muslim ancestry: his great-grandfather, Ali Kemal, was the last interior minister of the Ottoman empire after World War I).
It was, though, thanks to the Sieff family’s connections to Kibbutz Kfar Hanassi that Johnson and his sister spent a summer in Israel while he was studying at Oxford University. According to Rachel Johnson, the experience didn’t entirely suit her brother’s temperament. “Boris’s memories aren’t quite as fond as mine,” she told one newspaper in 2013, noting that his work assignment in the “searingly hot” kibbutz kitchen was “brutal.”

Hardline Brexiteer Boris Johnson was announced as Britain’s new Prime Minister on Tuesday.
The New York-born politician and President Trump favorite won a landslide victory against rival Jeremy Hunt to be his party’s pick to replace Theresa May as leader — and to finally lead the UK through Brexit.
Johnson, 55, the clear favorite, addressed his party soon after the announcement, thanking them for “the extraordinary honor and privilege that you’ve just conferred on me.”

Actress Natalie Portman is the latest luminary to add her name to the pantheon of celebrities who willfully or through sheer ignorance are trivializing the Holocaust. After playing the title character in the 1997 revival of The Diary of Anne Frank, Portman evidently believes herself competent to compare Anne’s experience during the Holocaust to that of any young undocumented migrant currently in hiding in the United States because she fears being deported for being in the country illegally.
According to news reports, Portman recalled in an Instagram her visit as a 16-year-old to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam accompanied by Miep Gies, the family friend who had hidden the Franks when the Nazis were rounding up Jews in the city.

In the real-life Beltway version, the Michigander (Ms. Tlaib) and the Minnesotan (Ms. Omar) constitute half of “The Squad”—the four female House progressives who are defying the convention that freshman members of Congress are to be seen and not heard. Ms. Tlaib is the first Palestinian-American woman elected to Congress and speaks often of her grandmother in the West Bank. She has endorsed a “one state” solution under which Israel would cease to exist.
Ms. Omar came to America after fleeing Somalia. Her election marked several congressional firsts: the first Somali-American, the first naturalized citizen from Africa, the first nonwhite woman from Minnesota, and one of the first two Muslim women (along with Ms. Tlaib).

New Right seeks to run in technical bloc with United Right with Ayelet Shaked at the top of the ticket.
The leaders of the New Right party unveiled Monday an official proposal for the unification of the right-wing parties under the title, “Let’s unite today!”
The Offer Details:
1. The union will be implemented as a “technical bloc”. After the elections, the two parties will operate independently.
2. Full equality in the list,
3. The management of a shared election campaign.
4. At the top of the bloc will be the one who will bring the most seats: Ayelet Shaked.
The leaders of the New Right handed their proposal to the heads of the United Right and waited for an answer.
“We can close the union within 10 minutes, and we are waiting to hear from Rabbi Peretz and Bezalel Smotrich in order to close this week, in order to advance in the general election campaign,” the party said.
Outwardly, Russia is loyal to the idea that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the reason for Middle East unrest. This approach raises the bar on Palestinian demands and makes normal life in the region less likely.
China’s and Russia’s absence from the economic conference in Bahrain last month was hard to ignore. If past experience is any indication, one can assume the Chinese are not set to initiate alternative plans for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Russians, on the other hand, will promote – if only behind the scenes – plans that will interfere with the normal regional routine and are in opposition to Israeli interests.
The Kremlin’s policy vis-à-vis the Palestinians is not the result of altruistic motives but tangible Russian interests. Moscow is interested in enlisting the support of Muslim and Arab states for its plan to establish itself in the Middle East and Africa. The Russian position is also connected to the morale of its Muslim citizens, who make up some 10% of the country’s population, and reflects a desire to avoid internal unrest. It was only a few weeks ago that Russia’s Deputy Mufti Rushan hazrat Abbyasov declared that Muslims in the country supported every aspect of the Palestinian struggle. Add these two components to Russia’s traditional inclination to encourage anti-Western movements around the world and the Kremlin’s adoption of a pro-Palestinian policy in opposition to Israeli interests but also the interests of moderate Arab and Muslim states. Makes a great deal of sense.
