EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: A pragmatist like Reagan, President Trump will face three urgent foreign policy issues: renegotiating the Iran nuclear deal with a US-Israel military option and Russia’s acquiescence; resolving the human catastrophe in Syria in partnership with President Putin; and a Great Bargain with Putin on the Ukraine. At home, Trump’s challenge will be to bridge bitter political and racial divides. Establishing bipartisan commissions on the Middle East and Russia might help. So would the appointment of the non-partisan General David Petraeus as Secretary of State.

Four-year, $5 million probe will assess how many members of Nazi regime stayed on after 1945 • Probe comes as report finds around 77% of senior legal experts in Germany’s Justice Ministry in 1957 were former Nazi party members.

Germany will investigate the Nazis’ influence on the country’s post-war government, German magazine Der Spiegel reported over the weekend.

At an estimated $5 million cost, the four-year probe will assess how many members of the Third Reich stayed on at the German Federal Chancellery — the agency that serves the executive office of the chancellor, equivalent to the White House — after the war.

He was welcomed in Moscow, which saw an opening for Russia to gain its first military base in North Africa. According to DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources, President Vladimir Putin began to envision a second Mediterranean base on the coast of Benghazi, twin to Hmeimim in Syria’s Latakia. This one would accommodate Russian naval as well as air units and be located 700km from Europe.

Tourism Minister Yariv Levin (Likud) said Monday morning in an interview with Arutz Sheva that despite the government’s efforts to find alternative solutions for Amona, the coalition still needs to pass the Regulation Law.

“The Regulation Law is a means, not an end,” Levin said. “Our purpose isn’t to prevent the unjust expulsion of all Amona’s residents. I think we need to advance the Regulation Law, so we won’t end up in a situation in which we failed to find a solution and also haven’t managed to pass the law. If, by the time the Regulation Law is passed, we don’t find a better solution for Amona, we’ll have to use the Regulation Law.”

On November 27, 2016 Kellyanne Conway questioned Romney’s loyalty to Trump, and questioned Romney’s judgment because of his attacks on Trump. She said that Romney lost states in 2012 that Trump won, and questioned what has Romney done since 2012 to warrant an important position such as Secretary of State. Ms. Conway stuck the knife in, twisted it, all with a smile on her face.

Ever since his election as Canada’s prime minister last October, Justin Trudeau has revelled in global tributes, raves and swoons. He’s the Disney prince with the trippy dance moves, the groovy Haida tattoo and the gender-balanced cabinet. He’s the last best hope for globalization, the star attraction at the Pride Parades, the hero of the Paris Climate Summit, the guy everyone wants a selfie with.

Trudeau made himself synonymous with Canada. He made Canada cool again. It was fun while it lasted.

Like many of us, I also realized several years ago that the anti-Semitism in most European countries was not diminishing but rather the exact opposite: It was increasingly growing. I asked myself what was the reason for this phenomenon, which basically has no reason, especially considering the fact that the continent’s large Jewish communities no longer exist.

While the high percentage of Muslims in many European countries spurs anti-Semitism and possibly adds to it, it is only a marginal part of the hatred towards Jews—a “traditional” phenomenon which is hundreds of years old.

The recent United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) decision to deny Jews any connection to the Temple Mount was no coincidence. The ill-considered decision came about under the full and continuous support, and at the initiation of, the king of Jordan.

This is no longer a secret. The UNESCO move came barely three weeks after the king spoke at the UN promising doom to Israel because he alleges Israel is unfair to the Palestinians.

The wildfires that have raged across Israel over five days have left at least 133 people injured, rendered hundreds of homes unlivable and consumed tens of thousands of dunams of protected parks and nature reserves.

The Magen David Adom rescue service reported Saturday that among the 133 people treated by the organization for fire-related injuries, one was seriously hurt and three others were moderately injured. The overall tally is likely higher, officials said, as some people – one estimate suggested as many as 50 – may have gone to hospitals on their own for injuries such as smoke inhalation.

Barack Obama has two faces. After Trump’s victory and Hillary’s defeat, the public Obama has been gracious and diplomatic. His lectures to Trump, directly and indirectly, are couched in praise. He echoed the feeling of millions on both sides when he said, “We are now all rooting for his success”.

That’s a lie. Or rather a disguise.

Obama and his aides had, in one insider narrative, decided to don the “mask of decorum”. The contempt for Trump still seeps through the mask. And the mask hides Obama’s next big move.

On November 3, a Jordanian soldier opened fire on three CIA vehicles carrying over a dozen US soldiers, many of whom helped train Jordanian soldiers. In the senseless attack, three Americans were killed, and to this day, no one knows why.

Jim Moriarty, the father of one of murdered Americans, asks the King of Jordan and the President of the United States: “Who was it that murdered my son and why?”

As leader of Jordan’s Opposition Coalition, I feel obligated to answer to Mr. Moriarity directly, because none of the families of the fallen soldiers have received acceptable answers.

Replacements for four justices – about a quarter of the court – will be announced together in the coming months. This is Shaked’s dream – a chance to move the court to the right and toward a more conservative approach to negating government policy, both in one fell swoop.

Soon after the end of the June 1967 Six Day War, Israel’s Foreign Minister Abba Eban met in New York with U.S. Secretary of State Dean Rusk. Eban was asked about Israel’s thinking on a future political settlement following her extraordinary military victory and territorial conquests. He responded that the Israeli government had decided on June 19 that in exchange for peace agreements, Israel would return the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt and the Golan Heights to Syria, while considering granting autonomy to the Arab population in the West Bank. Rusk, Eban later recorded in his autobiography, could hardly believe what he was saying and responded that “he did not know of any case in modern history where a country, which had been attacked and emerged victorious, put forward such daring proposals so soon after.” President Johnson considered that Israel’s position was “constructive;” while Gideon Rafael, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, later wrote that the Secretary of State was impressed by Israeli “moderation.”

The New Israel Fund (NIF) recently received a grant to “research and report on anti-Semitism on U.S. campuses.” On the surface, this appears to be a welcome development—a progressive group being mobilized to confront a major social malady plaguing institutions of higher education.

Beneath the surface of the Sept. 27 grant, however, are vested interests seeking to use this issue to cover up their role in fomenting the atmosphere that is hostile to Jewish students. The NIF is being paid by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF)—a main backer of the anti-Israel activism that contributes to, enables and devolves into anti-Semitism on college campuses.

RBF provides hundreds of thousands of dollars to a number of organizations that delegitimize the Jewish state and promote the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, both on and off campus. These RBF’s BDS-promoting grantees that are active on American universities include Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), Palestine Legal and the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC).
