Of all Israeli institutions, the Israelis public has the most faith in the IDF

While the world around us faces crisis after crisis, it is safe to say that Israelis are feeling rather content with themselves, their country and their general standing, judging by a special holiday poll conducted by New Wave Research this week.

According to the poll, 73% of respondents characterized the state of Israel as “a good place to live.” A similar number of respondents (70%) defined themselves as “proud to be Israeli” with an average score 8.2 out of 10 for Israeli pride.

Unsurprisingly, the Israeli body that received the highest rating of public trust was the Israel Defense Force, with an average score of 8.1. Coming in at a distant second place, the Supreme Court received a score of 6.5 — a passing grade considering the onslaught of attacks the court has endured in recent years.

The deal promises to help Iran modernize and protect its nuclear program while making it harder for Israel to disrupt the program through military means or sabotage.

The problem is, the same kids who feel that way, do so because they aren’t taught REAL history, they are taught revisionist history, and they’ve never lived to see that these “new” ideas are actually no more than OLD recycled ideas, that have NEVER worked, ANYWHERE they’ve been tried…. Before citing some of the more relevant passages of that article, it should be borne in mind that Brzezinski, a political scientist, served as President Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser. Religion and State Index published annually in Ynet on eve of Jewish New Year shows that over 60% would completely separate religion and state, 65 percent prefers a government without haredi parties, and vast majority supports at least some public transportation on Shabbat

Most Jewish Israelis have traditional lifestyles and worldviews, but support freedom of religion and separation of church and state, according the annual Israel Religion and State Index published on Ynet on the eve of the Jewish New Year.

The Hiddush Association’s Religion and State Index, a comprehensive annual research project published in cooperation with Ynet for the seventh time, questioned participants on a number of controversial issues, including civil marriages, Shabbat, military service, and more.

Eight hundred people participated, a sample representing the adult Jewish population in Israel. The margin of error was 3.5 percent.

T. Belman. I am all for this but will depend on how decisions are made and what policies will be followed. What will be the bottom line on settlement construction and conceding territory? Kahlon, Bennett and Bibi fit well together. This article makes no mention of Shas and UTS which between them have about 12 seats. So they are not automatically in. So they would be pitted against Lapid and Liberman. But even if such a party was formed it would still have to have a coalition of about 65 seats. The key question is would the “Republican” Party get more seats than the three parties currently have. Is Liberman’s Party that toxic?

Senior journalist Yossi Verter reported on Friday in the leftist paper Haaretz that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is considering forming a politically right-centrist bloc of parties to run on a joint list in the next elections.

In recent weeks in meetings with the heads of parties in his coalition government, Netanyahu has raised the possibility of forming a “Republican party” conservative bloc based on the American two-party model, according to Verter.

Ya’alon had reportedly said earlier that suspects in Duma firebombing haven’t been charged to avoid blowing intelligence sources

Security forces have only a “general idea” of who is responsible for the deadly firebombing attack in the Palestinian village in Duma, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said Thursday, calling on reporters to take a wait and see approach to the case.

The statement appeared to walk back comments attributed to Ya’alon earlier in the day to the effect that Israel had tracked down the perpetrators of the attack.

The firebombing of the Dawabsha family home in July killed 18-month-old Ali Dawabsha and mortally injured his parents, who died in the following weeks. The deaths prompted outrage among the Palestinians, in Israel and across the international community. Ali’s 4-year-old brother survived the attack, which was widely attributed to Jewish extremists.

T. Belman. Netanyahu appears to be going on a diplomatic offensive in Europe. Aside from warning them that their attempts to boycott Israeli products will hurt them more than us, he is also rallying Europe to stand up to radical Islam both in the ME and in Africa and to stand with Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu impressed upon British Prime Minister David Cameron that efforts in Europe to restrict trade with the Jewish state could cost the continent access to Israeli tech and strategic influence in the region, the U.K. Jewish Chronicle reported on Thursday.

According to a high-level Israeli source, the prime minister stressed that Indian and Chinese investment could surpass Europe’s in the Jewish state, especially amid increasing efforts in Europe to limit business between its companies and Jewish settlement-related enterprises.

Israeli security sources claim Quds Force sending hundreds of elite troops in unprecedented cooperation with Russia to save embattled Syrian regime.

Qasem Soleimani, commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force, has sent hundreds of ground soldiers into Syria in the past few days apparently in cooperation with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, said a senior Israeli security official Thursday.

Russia has also recently deployed military assets into Syria and according to the Israeli source, has teamed up with Iran in an unprecedented attempt to protect the embattled regime of Bashar Assad from falling to rebel groups including the Islamic State.

As we approach Rosh Hashana, the people of Israel need to recognize how lucky we are.

True, today, we find ourselves largely alone, set apart from our traditional partners in the Western world. But standing alone isn’t always the worst option. Today it is certainly not the worst option.

Over the past several years, we have witnessed the growing radicalization and fragmentation of the societies of neighboring lands. Sunnis fight Shi’ites and one another. Minority populations are slaughtered, enslaved and oppressed. Regimes fall, rise and fall again. Today, every Arab society is either in danger or at war. And in almost every case, it isn’t good fighting evil but varying degrees of evil and barbarism fighting one another.

T. Belman. Russia needs to provoke a war between Israel and Iran in order to raise the price of oil and keep the west preoccupied with the Middle East. This will allow Russia to ease their financial distress and to dominate Ukraine and the Balkans.

The invasion of Europe by over a million Muslims and the rise in oil prices will cause Europe much distress. So Europe will be looking inward rather to Ukraine or hopefully to Israel.

Obama believes that the agreement with Iran is a unique opportunity to limit the escalation of war in the Middle East. In reality, having created “New Middle East”, where Iranian ayatollahs play the role of the hegemon and covert ally of America, he not only threw dynamite into an already raging fire, but provoked a chain reaction of uncontrollable explosions thousands of kilometers far from the region.

As Americans rallied on Capitol Hill demanding more resistance to the Iran nuclear deal, Speaker John Boehner changed course late yesterday. There is a growing consensus that President Obama failed to meet his legal obligations under the Iran Nuclear Review Act, so the speaker scrapped plans for just one vote.

The House will reportedly vote on three resolutions:

A resolution to approve the deal. This vote forces lawmakers to go on the record for or against the deal and will show how little support it has in Congress. This is an important distinction because recent polling found that 66% of likely voters believe that the deal should not go into effect unless Congress approves it — and it won’t.

The second resolution will reportedly rebuke President Obama for failing to submit the secret side deals between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The final resolution would stipulate that U.S. sanctions against Iran are to remain in place.

One reason for this new approach is that if President Obama ignores the will of Congress, as he is likely to do, this series of votes provides the foundation for a legal challenge to stop the deal. The House is effectively stating that the president’s deal is unenforceable because he violated the terms of the Iran Nuclear Review Act.

PM Netanyahu is visiting Britain now. He said “I want to say here in 10 Downing Street, and reaffirm again that I am ready to resume direct negotiations with the Palestinians with no conditions whatsoever to enter negotiations, and I’m willing to do so immediately,”. Don’t worry, that’s a freeby. No one is going to take him up on it.

In a statement, the Cameron’s government said on Tuesday: “We recognize that the conflict in Gaza last year took a terrible toll.

“However the prime minister was clear on the UK’s recognition of Israel’s right to take proportionate action to defend itself, within the boundaries of international humanitarian law.”

I hate this formulation. First of all if you are going to mention the “terrible toll” make sure you say it at the doorstep of Hamas rather than simply noting it happenned.

Trumps first reaction to the “refugee” invasion was a liberal one. He offered to take some in. Which was odd since he is infavour of kicking out all the illegal aliens.

A day later, he changed his tune. BREITBART reported:

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stated of the refugees from the Middle East and Africa going through Europe “I’d love to help. But we have our own problems” on Wednesday’s broadcast of “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.

Trump was asked, “We now know that our State Department, and our president is thinking of bringing in refugees from Syria and Iraq, that have been displaced, that are going through Europe. Now, do we know, many of them are Muslims coming from Muslim countries. I’m sure many of them are very good people. But do you think some radicals might be mixed in with them, is that a fear we should take seriously?”
